Role overview:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, positive and creative communicator to help our small team support and empower people living with a genetic bleeding disorder.
It might sound obvious, but we need someone who loves communicating - whether that’s chatting to supporters at events, writing engaging content or creating eye-catching social media posts.You’ll immerse yourself in the wide range of work our small charity does and help us maximise its impact.
Your main focus will be on shaping and improving content and engagement on our social media channels, with support from our Digital Marketing and Content Manager, but this is a varied role with lots of opportunities to get involved in a wide range of projects. There’ll also be ample of opportunities to develop your skills and experience – both learning from members of the team and through external training.
We’re really proud of the work we do. This year’s highlights include writing and launching a ground-breaking report on the treatment of women and girls, coordinating a nationwide celebration of sport and organising a weekend event for parents of children newly diagnosed with a bleeding disorder. On top of that, we offer complex support to those in our community impacted by the infected blood scandal.

Background and purpose
We are the only UK-wide charity for all those affected by a genetic bleeding disorder, a community of individuals and families, healthcare professionals and supporters.
For more than 75 years we have campaigned for better treatment, been a source of information and advice and supported people living with life-long conditions.

We are looking for a Communications and Marketing Officer to promote the vision, values and activities of the charity to grow our profile, membership and supporter numbers across the UK.
You will work closely with the small team at the Haemophilia Society to ensure a positive, engaging, consistent, regular and effective programme of communication.
The Haemophilia Society is a member of the Charity Comms and Charity Digital organisations which offer a range of training opportunities.
Key duties & responsibilities
- Assume the day-to-day running of our social media channels, with support from our Digital Marketing and Content Manager. This includes planning, sourcing and creating content as well as monitoring the channels to ensure comments, queries and feedback is responded to as quickly as possible, liaising with relevant teams where necessary to formulate an agreed response
- Liaising with services, fundraising and public affairs to ensure engaging and informative messaging
- Work with all departments to create content to promote activities, drive member recruitment, fundraising and engagement
- Help to plan, source and create content for our twice-yearly members magazine Community Matters

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Head of Communications and Networks will amplify The Politics Project’s voice, build strategic partnerships and strengthen collaboration across the youth, education and democracy sectors. You will lead on communications, stakeholder engagement and the continued development of the Democracy Classroom Network.
You will oversee a team responsible for communications, partnerships and events, providing leadership and guidance to ensure clear messaging, impactful storytelling and strong, coordinated engagement across the sector. The post holder will combine strategic thinking with strong operational delivery, managing both the external profile of the organisation and the networks that underpin its reach and influence.
Key responsibilities include:
Communications
- Develop and lead The Politics Project’s communications strategy to raise visibility and strengthen reputation.
- Ensure clear, consistent messaging across all channels, including website, social media, newsletters and press.
- Lead media relations, drafting press releases, handling journalist enquiries and identifying media opportunities.
- Monitor and evaluate communications activity to measure reach, engagement and influence.
Partnerships and networks
- Work with the Partnerships Manager and Director to cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders across civil society, government, education and youth sectors.

This is a fast-paced senior management role in a small but growing organisation. The post includes a six-month probation period and is fixed-term until March 2027, with the potential of extension depending on funding. You will explore and address service users' needs, make referrals to relevant services, and ensure safeguarding concerns are managed in collaboration with social services, safeguarding leads, and mental health teams. What’s your mission?
In this role you will embody Ada’s culture, being responsible for the wellbeing of the staff and attracting new talent as well as providing effective leadership and line management of the People function. Reporting directly into the CEO, you will act as a trusted, strategic partner, ensuring alignment on both organisation and people capabilities, fostering a culture of high performance and growth. You will regularly attend Executive Leadership Team (ELT) meetings and engage with Board Members and have the opportunity to harness the experience and expertise of some of our private sector pro bono supporters to drive forward the vital People Management agenda at Ada, which is a core pillar of our ‘Evolving to Ada 2.0’ strategy and critical to scaling our impact.
You will be responsible for leading the People and Talent team across our London and Manchester campuses, and ensuring relevant processes are followed as well as driving forward people management priorities and initiatives. This is a hands-on operational role that will also stretch your strategic thinking and planning skills. The role is expected to evolve in seniority as you build out the team underneath you in line with the College’s planned growth in learner volumes and staff headcount. The postholder will be expected to make regular visits to the college’s campus in Manchester/London.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
● Management -
○ Partner the Executive Leadership Team to lead on the implementation of Ada’s people management strategy as part of our new organisational strategy.
○ You will set clear priorities and focus areas for the People team, effectively managing performance, and supporting development.
○ Provide effective day-to-day support for the Executive Leadership Team and line managers to ensure the College runs smoothly, is attracting ever an ever better quality of candidates for vacant roles and is HR compliant at all times.
○ Design and implement initiatives that enhance employee satisfaction and retention, promoting a positive and inclusive culture for Ada.
● Building our Employer Brand -
○ Working with internal and external stakeholders, work to ensure we significantly improve our ability to attract and retain the best talent in a competitive market.
Create a transparent and authentic brand externally to help Ada to welcome more amazing people.
● Employee Relations -
○ Advise line managers and staff on best practices for managing employee relation cases and conflict resolution using external best practice and up to date legislation.
○ Partner with the ELT on complex, high risk cases or disputes to deliver a pragmatic outcome that reduces risk to Ada.
○ Stay up to date with relevant employment laws and regulations, and ensure compliance in all employee activities while upholding Ada’s organisational values.
● Policies & Procedures -
○ Provide support and guidance to line managers and the Executive Leadership Team. Acting as a trusted advisor in all cases including performance management, conflict resolution and disciplinary cases ensuring Ada’s policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
○ Act as the leader on topics/requests related to policies, employment law and compliance.
○ Ensure policies and procedures are reviewed regularly and are up to date.
● Systems & Processes -
○ Provide support on change management programmes including restructures, ensuring change processes are implemented smoothly and risks are identified and mitigated in a timely manner.
○ Drive adoption of the recently implemented HR platform (i.e. AccessHR). Ensure all staff adhere to the agreed processes including performance management.
Plans are to effectively link performance management to reward and recognition.
○ Proactively review existing processes and identify areas to introduce efficiencies.
● Diversity & Inclusion - Partner with the Executive Leadership Team, and lead on the implementation of the EDI action plan. In time, evolve this into a more formal strategy that ensures Ada remains an inclusive and welcoming employer across our campuses for all our staff and other stakeholders.
Key Skills and experience required
- A minimum of 4 years previous People/HR generalist and partnering experience preferably with some experience of working in schools, colleges, universities, training providers or education management organisations.
- Level 7 CIPD qualified, or similar experience is essential Demonstrable experience of improving talent attraction, selection and development
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of UK employment law and experience in handling complex ER cases, Employment Tribunals, ACAS Conciliations and Settlements.
- Demonstrable experience of working with leaders on complex people related issues.
- High level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality.
- Evidence of delivering HR solutions, including strategic HR initiatives and change projects.
- Strong problem solving and decision making ability, with a proactive and solutions oriented mindset and approach.
- Excellent leadership skills with a track record of building and/or maintaining a high-performance culture and role modelling excellent behaviours.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

About the role
This role will be an expert resource to support the Housing Income Team on legal issues and best practice on all aspects of income management and debt recovery. Ensuring collection of the maximum amount of rental income to ensure sufficient revenue to maintain a first-class housing service, and good quality, safe homes as well as compliance with all relevant legislation, including the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023. There will be a focus on reviewing, implementing and monitoring of tenant service charges and legislative changes which may impact on what we can collect.
The role will help drive a positive performance culture with a tenant centred approach and will manage a small team of Tenancy Sustainment Officers as well as deputise for the Income Management Team Leader in their absence.
About you
You should be educated to degree level or able to demonstrate significant experience in an equivalent role, have a high level of literacy and analytical skills and experience of working with a range of client groups within the community. Working knowledge of housing, landlord and tenant legislation, regulations, standards and core disciplines of work area is essential for this role as is experience of successfully managing staff, debt recovery and service charging in a social housing setting.

The Employer
The British Society for Haematology (BSH) is the largest UK multidisciplinary Haematology Society with over 3,000 members. Our activities include running education events and courses (including our flagship Annual Scientific Meeting held in April), producing guidelines, awarding grants, and raising the profile of haematology.
The Role
The main role of the BSH Guidelines is to provide haematologists with up-to-date advice on the diagnosis and treatment of haematological disease and on laboratory haematology practice, primarily by the production of evidence-based guidelines.
The co-ordination and commissioning of the required guidelines is administered by the Guidelines Team, overseen by the Guidelines Executive Committee; and carried out by four Task Forces, each responsible for a specialist area: blood transfusion, haemostasis & thrombosis, haemato-oncology and general haematology. In addition, each Task Force oversees 10-14 Writing Groups, who develop BSH guidance.
The post-holder supports the Guidelines Team, including coordination of activities of the volunteer groups and supporting liaison with external groups and organisations.

About the role
We’re seeking a committed and enthusiastic Homework Club Lead to prepare and deliver
engaging weekly sessions for children of families seeking sanctuary (primarily Key Stage 2).
You’ll plan and lead a supportive after-school environment where children can complete
homework, strengthen their English and maths skills, and enjoy fun, child-centred activities.
You’ll also oversee volunteers during sessions, making sure each child gets the right level of
support, and help coordinate volunteers outside of session time.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in education or community
learning, who loves working with children and wants to help them thrive in both learning and
life.

- Contract: Freelance consultancy agreement, 1-year fixed-term (with potential to extend up to 4 years). Post funded by National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund
- Hours: 6 hours per week (must be available Thurs 3.30–6.30)
- Location: Tower Hamlets, London
- Pay: £24 per hour
- Start date: as soon as possible
- Line manager: Touching Safe Ground Project Lead

What you’ll do:
- Plan, prepare and deliver weekly Homework Club sessions (1.5 hrs) for primary school children (Key Stage 2 focus)
- Communicate with parents/carers, project partners and GCP ensuring strong relationships and consistent support for children
- Set up and clear away the session space each week
- Welcome and greet children, ensuring they feel safe and included
- Match children with volunteers, ensuring either 1:1 or 1:2 support and age-appropriate learning materials
- Provide additional support in Maths and English where needed (up to age 11/12)
- Organise fun, creative activities alongside homework to keep sessions balanced and enjoyable
- Take a participatory, child-centred approach to all activities
- Lead and manage volunteers during sessions, and support coordination between sessions
- Report safeguarding concerns immediately to the Project Lead, following procedures
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Experience leading or supporting educational sessions (school, after-school, or community-based)
- Knowledge of the UK school curriculum, particularly Key Stage 2
- Confidence supporting English and maths learning up to age 11/12
- Experience working with children from asylum-seeking, refugee and/or migrant families
- A child-centred, participatory approach to learning
- Strong safeguarding awareness and commitment to child welfare
- Patient, tolerant, professional, able to set and maintain boundaries, and a genuine love of working with children
Desirable
- Experience of working with children with additional needs and/or SEN
- Speaks a community language
- Interest in or knowledge of child development
- Lived experience of migration or seeking sanctuary
