About the Role

We’re looking for a flexible, compassionate and organised Project Worker to join us from October. You’ll support our Winter Night Shelter, assist with guest services and casework, and lead on communications through social media and newsletters.

This varied role offers a unique insight into frontline homelessness work, while building skills in project delivery, volunteer management, and digital content creation.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Staffing 2 evening shelter shifts per week (Nov–Apr)

• Supporting volunteers and guests during shelter operations

• Assisting guests with appointments and move-on support

• Managing bookings for showers, laundry, and wellbeing sessions

• Running C4WS social media accounts and producing content

• Providing admin and reporting support to the team

• Helping with community programmes and practical logistics

• A recent graduate (any discipline) with a strong interest in homelessness or community work

• Friendly and empathetic, with great communication skills

• Organised and reliable – able to juggle tasks in a small, busy team

• Confident using social media professionally

• Willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as part of a rota

• Experience working or volunteering with vulnerable adults

• Driving licence (helpful but not essential)

About KLS’ Future Foundations education team 

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family (if they have one) needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school.

•Support with casework tasks, guided by senior caseworker and manager, from initial contact to resolution, maintaining confidentiality throughout

•Liaise with external agencies and organisations on behalf of clients

•Respond to enquiries by telephone, email, referring on internally or externally organisations when necessary

•Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with the data protection legislation

OVERALL PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Night and Weekend Supervisor role is to oversee the provision of high-quality services. This includes supervising night care staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and providing direct support to clients to promote their well-being and independence.

GENUINE OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, it is a genuine occupational requirement (GOR) that the post holder is female. This requirement is essential for the role due to the following reasons:

1. Privacy and Dignity: The role involves working closely with female residents during sensitive hours (evenings, nights, and weekends) where privacy and dignity are paramount. Female residents may feel uncomfortable or distressed receiving support from a male/male presenting worker during these times, especially in situations involving personal care or emotional vulnerability.

2. Safety and Trust: Many of the residents may have experienced trauma, including domestic violence or abuse, often perpetrated by males. The presence of a female manager helps create a safe and supportive environment where these individuals can feel secure and trust the support being provided.

3. Legitimate Aim: The requirement ensures that the MPMT can maintain its commitment to providing gender-sensitive services tailored to the needs of vulnerable females. This aligns with the legitimate aim of protecting residents’ well-being and mental health.

4. Proportionality: The occupational requirement is a proportionate means of achieving the legitimate aim, as it directly addresses the needs of residents in a way that cannot be achieved through alternative measures, such as reallocating duties or employing male/male presenting staff for this role.

This GOR has been carefully considered to ensure compliance with legal standards under the Equality Act 2010 and is applied only where it is essential for fulfilling the primary responsibilities of this specific role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Supervision:

• Oversee the working practices of night staff to ensure high standards are maintained.
• Conduct regular meetings with direct reports for supervision and support, handling disciplinary or performance issues as needed.
• Carry out the induction and training of new staff and volunteers, and participate in team appraisals.

· Provide guidance, training, and support to night care staff

Resident Support:

• Participate in annual safeguarding training for children and adults and act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (Level 3).
• Provide emotional and practical support to distressed residents, fostering development and independence.
• Ensure the resident’s records are accurately maintained and updated.
• Foster a respectful and supportive environment for both residents and staff,

Compliance and Safety:

· Ensure adherence to all health and safety and safeguarding policies.

· Report any incidents or concerns to the Night and Weekend Manager promptly.

Administrative Duties:

· Assist in updating internal management information systems (e.g., INFORM) with relevant data.

· Support basic rent account management tasks as needed.

· Help coordinate staff schedules and cover arrangements for night shifts.

· Monitor and report on stock levels of essential supplies used during night shifts.

· Participate in occasional meetings or training sessions outside regular hours to stay informed about organisational updates.

· Ensure all administrative practices comply with MPMT’s policies and procedures.

Providence Row Housing Association has been helping homeless people in East London since 1860. We provide social housing along with excellent services that aim to support homeless people with complex needs and enable their recovery. Our Senior Substance Misuse Worker works alongside members of the support team to create a safe and welcoming environment within a psychologically informed environment. You will contribute to the development of the recovery hub, by providing expertise in alcohol and drug misuse. Taking a lead role in delivering training/ advising staff on substance misuse issues, liaison with substance misuse agencies, facilitating multidisciplinary case conferences and negotiating access to detox and treatment services. Carrying out assessments of drug and alcohol usage with key clients, delivering brief and extended interventions, outlining risks, advice on harm minimisation and refer to specialist agencies.

You will also conduct surveys of residents view and opinions, assist with audits and reporting on the service, help to ensure compliance with regulation and best practice, and work with a Support Team which promotes person centred coproduced approaches.

You need to have experience of working with homeless people with complex needs, have a good understanding of strengths, needs, and risks they experience. Be competent with computer systems, and comfortable completing regular performance reports. The Senior Substance Misuse Worker is a day shift based role with evening and weekend working.

We are seeking a flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic Sessional Worker to support the delivery of services for Young Carers aged 5–16. The role involves two key parts. The second is supporting with outreach to local schools, colleges, community settings and professionals to identify and engage Young Carers.

You will deliver awareness training sessions, run stalls and aim to identify and engage Young Carers in the community. You will also help ensure young Carers feel heard, included, and supported as they navigate the challenges of their caring roles. * Provide support 9am-5pm 7 days a week
* Assess prospective discharges within 3-5 hours of receiving referral information.
* Support the customer to settle in and meet their immediate social care needs.

Our innovative Open the Gate (OTG) programme at our Battersea Hub offers work experience, volunteering opportunities, accredited training, mentoring, and signposting support to participants/ Apprentices at any point on their resettlement journey. Principal Accountabilities for the Core Job:

1. Nurturing a professional working environment where Open The Gate Apprentices are supported to achieve their potential.

2. Building and maintaining referral partnerships with external agencies [including HMP resettlement teams, probation services, approved premises and community-based organisations supporting prison-leavers] to increase participant numbers and sustain engagement with Open the Gate.

3. Coordinating applications and referrals for prospective Apprentices, gathering relevant information for dissemination to the wider team.  

4. Working with colleagues in the Programmes team to develop risk management and support plans for each Apprentice, using information regarding offences, licence conditions and risk areas, liaising closing with the probation service and other agencies where relevant.

5. Ensuring timely, accurate, and safe recording of all information and personal data.

6. Case management of Apprentices, including action-planning and goal setting in consultation with the Workshops Manager, supporting Apprentices to achieve work-ready outcomes in an agreed period.

7. Providing day to day practical, pastoral, and sign-posting support to a caseload of Apprentices and providing ad-hoc support to graduate Apprentices when required.

8. Working with the wider team at Fine Cell Work to develop and coordinate a series of employability and creative wellbeing workshops for Apprentices.

9. Supporting small grant application processes on behalf of Apprentices.

10. Responding to safeguarding concerns in line with Fine Cell Work policy and procedure.

11. Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager with the delivery of the Service User Involvement Strategy and championing service user involvement across the organisation more broadly.

12. Supporting the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to recruit and deliver training to mentors and other volunteers in roles supporting Apprentices.

Working with the Volunteer and Programmes Manager to develop and enhance the Open the Gate mentor offer including as the first point of contact for mentors pre- and post- mentoring sessions. 

Knowledge and Skills for the role of Engagement and Support Officer

Essential

• The ability to build rapport, establish trust, and work non-judgementally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
•  At least 3 years’ professional experience working with adults in contact with the criminal justice system, assessing needs and risks, and formulating support plans.
• Excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage competing priorities on a daily basis.
• Experience working alongside probation and other key workers to formulate risk management plans in line with licence conditions.
• Demonstrable experience of adult safeguarding and a proven ability to assess, manage, and effectively communicate risks and vulnerabilities.
• Demonstrable experience in seeking opportunities to increase referrals and build new referral pathways.
• A proven track record of case management, and experience ensuring all case records and caseload processes are clear and up to date.
• Experience in impact monitoring and evaluation and working to agreed targets and tangible outcomes, including supporting the writing of reports to Senior Managers.
• The ability to cope with the inherent challenges and demands of the role, maintaining well-being while effectively supporting Open The Gate Apprentices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to seek support when needed including accessing clinical supervision regularly.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable

• Up to date knowledge of housing support, the benefits system, barriers to employment and other challenges facing people post-release.
• Experience of IT systems including Salesforce or other database management platform.
• Experience of working alongside volunteers.
• A knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice.
• An interest in, or appreciation of, the value of creative education

This is a full-time (37.5 hours a week), permanent role, and is primarily office-based.
