Working as part of the FP&A - Retail team, this role is focussed around producing and delivering timely and accurate financial budgeting and analysis for the retail division which consists of ~270 charity shops across England and Wales with an annual turnover of ~£40m.

The purpose of the Retail Finance Business Partner role is to support the organisation in the delivery of strong performance and achievement of its financial objectives, through provision of insightful analysis and reporting, business intelligence and assessment of financial performance and risk.

Must haves:

* Professional accounting qualification - CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent experience.
* Previous experience in a Business Partnering role with responsibility for the production of management information.
* Evidence of building successful working relationships externally and internally and at all levels of an organisation.
* Experience of working with staff at all levels of an organisation and with both financial and non-financial staff.
* Excellent IT skills, in particular Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
* Experience of working in a dynamic and commercially oriented organisation. Charity sector experience is not essential.
* Sound commercial judgement and confidence in challenging assumptions.
* Ability to assimilate and analyse financial data, interpreting it to support business decision making.
* Able to establish priorities and consistently deliver accurate, timely and relevant data to tight deadlines.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to explain complex information to non-finance staff in a relevant and meaningful way.

Great to haves:
* Experience working with accounting packages. Saturn, Power BI, Jet and Navision an advantage but not essential.

Role Requirements

OVERVIEW

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (the Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

We are looking for a creative and proactive individual who has experience of supporting survivors of domestic abuse. Working with survivors of domestic abuse as an outreach worker, you will play a crucial role in advocacy, risk assessment, safety planning and empowerment.

As part of our passionate and committed team of approximately 45 staff, our aspiration is that you will thrive and develop in this varied role. You will be contributing to the invaluable work of the Rising Sun and making a lasting difference to the lives of those who are impacted by domestic abuse.

JOB PURPOSE

• To provide practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse, including crisis intervention, risk assessment and safety planning.
• To develop individual support plans, which address the risk of harm and offer information, advocacy, advice and signposting to survivors, underpinned by individual risk and need.
• To empower survivors, thereby increasing self- esteem, reducing isolation and helping survivors to keep safe.
• To provide survivors with information relating to their rights and ensuring survivors are empowered to make decisions based on their options.
• To work in collaboration with the adult team and wider Rising Sun team to support other programmes delivered within the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service delivery

• Work as part of a team providing high quality support, advice, advocacy and information to survivors of domestic abuse.
• Manage a caseload in accordance with organisational policies and procedures and adhere to confidentiality.
• Work in a needs led way with a specific focus on a trauma informed approach, which recognises domestic abuse and its impact.
• Work holistically with survivors, recognising individual needs, and help survivors to recognise and build on their strengths and abilities to build self-esteem and resilience.
• Offer support face to face or remotely, via phone or video call, depending on the needs of the survivor and current guidance around social distancing.
• Attend regular supervision and appraisals with line-manager.
• Work effectively in partnership with other agencies and refer on appropriately, dependant on need and risk. This may include referral to specialist agencies, to other specialist DVA services or other external processes (for example MARAC).
• Assess risk to individuals on a regular basis using the DASH risk indicator checklist.
• Work with survivors to develop tailored support plans with a focus on reducing the risk of harm, increasing their personal safety (and that of any children) and responding to their individual needs.
• Support survivors to be able to identify and manage the risks to themselves and their children
• Provide information to survivors in relation to their options, including guidance in relation to their housing, legal and welfare rights and advocate on their behalf as required.
• Encourage service users’ participation in service development, continuous improvement and feedback exercised.
• Represent the Rising Sun at relevant community meetings and forums.
• Support Rising Sun’s community services including our One Stop Shop drop in service and group programmes.
• Maintain up to date and accurate records and ensure, reports and evaluations are completed as required.
• Work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and building positive working-relationships with team members.

Role Requirements

• Support planning and changes in the administration of children and young people’s timetable for children and family services.
• Support with photocopying of notes for subject access/ solicitor requests (SARS).
• Manage the SARS and redacting process with appropriate members of the Therapies teams.
• Update logs and coordinate the Clinical and Safeguarding Supervision across the Therapies teams, escalating non-compliance where required.
• Monitor mandatory training compliance and administer booking processes for all relevant training sessions/course.
• Coordinating specialist clinics, including spine and hip clinics; liaising with the Physiotherapy team to ensure the correct children are on the schedule. Liaison with external Consultants to organise the clinic lists.
• Carry out audiotyping of clinic letters and distribute as required.
• Update absences within the teams onto the SMI (staff care) system, as requested by the Heads of Service.
• Place orders for any required equipment and/or resources for departments and for the children and young people as deemed necessary.
• Take overview of clinical asset ordering, linking with the clinical assets team and management system, in line with MHRA guidelines and the medical devices policy.
• Track and monitor equipment orders with Heads of service, escalate delays and provide a central overview for all equipment re-charges and ordering.
• Raise and receipt PO’s and invoices for the therapies directorate and liaise closely with the finance team.
• Undertake other or additional duties that are within your skills and abilities, as the organisation may reasonably require from time to time.

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. We’re looking for a New Business Officer to join our team, to secure new partnerships that will grow income and take us one step closer to a cure.

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Identify and build strategic relationships to generate income from new corporate supporters.

· A focused and strategic approach to identifying, researching, and targeting prospective corporate partners.

· Work closely with Corporate Partnerships Manager (CPM) to deliver our successful new business strategy. 

· Build and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities to include strategic partnerships and charity of the year partnerships. 

· Develop engagement plans for prospects, with innovative, commercially minded ideas, to maximise the chances of securing successful partnerships. 

· Create innovative and creative applications/proposals for charity of the year and strategic partnerships. 

· Actively network with potential corporate partners through warm contacts, events, conferences, and other available media. 

· Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of new business approaches in liaison with CPM, communicating progress regularly. 

· Take full personal responsibility for the timely recording of prospects, actions, updates, and notes within the CRM (Salesforce). 

· Work alongside the Partnership Development Officers on new partnership set-up, including establishing legal agreements with corporate partners. 

· Work closely with the Philanthropy team to leverage support from major donors and assist the Philanthropy team with their prospects where possible.

· Achieve agreed financial and non-financial targets, including income generation and meetings. 

· Support the CPM in the development and implementation of the corporate fundraising strategy for ARUK, to increase the team’s income, to ensure that the best use is made of internal and external contacts

Represent the charity professionally in a high-level corporate context.

· Organise and attend networking and cultivation events as required, influencing, and engaging high-level external contacts.

· Deliver high-quality and creative presentations and proposals to help target and engage prospects and convert them into partners.

· Organise tailored face-to-face meeting opportunities to initiate and build relationships.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current ARUK activities, including research being funded, and be an advocate of ARUK at all times.

 

What we are looking for:

· Corporate fundraising experience, or business development experience in a corporate role.

· Evidence of delivering high-quality and creative presentations and proposals to help target and engage potential partners/clients.

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices are a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We support families across Surrey and Southwest London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.

At the heart of the hospice are our dedicated clinical staffs. Their exceptional commitment and professionalism is commented on by so many of the supported children and their families. 

It costs £10.5 million a year to maintain our current level of care. Only 30% of that income comes from government funding via the NHS or local authorities, so we rely on our supporters’ generosity to keep the service running. Introduction

Retail and Volunteers Team: Our Retail and Volunteers Team manages our charity shops and volunteer programs, which play a crucial role in supporting our mission. They recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers to staff our shops and assist with various tasks, such as sorting donations and serving customers. Additionally, they oversee the operations of our retail outlets, ensuring that they are efficiently run to generate income for our hospices.

Part 1: Job Profile

 

a) Main purpose of  job

In the absence of the manager or assistant managers to lead a team of volunteers to maximise sales, deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the shop premises and assets are maintained to a high standard, according to legal requirements and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices (SSCH) policies and procedures. 

Decision Making Authority

The post holder will be required to make decisions on the quality, and suitability of donations before they are placed on sale. Depending on the length of the cover period they may be required to dress the windows. (They will follow price guidelines and existing display layout throughout the shop.)

The post holder will work with eCommerce Manager to decide if items would be suitable for selling at a higher price on eBay or through a promotional event and set these aside for the manager of the shop to deal with on their return.

The post holder will support with rostering of the team of volunteers where necessary and delegation of duties and jobs.

• Prepare and clean items appropriately for display

• Oversee the recycling and arranging of collections

• Price and ticket all items according to pricing strategy for the shop and ensure that all pricing and ticketing complies with legislation

​The role

The role offers lots of variation. One day you could be working on project planning with the team, contributing to exciting new suicide prevention projects, the next you could be writing reports for funders or working on funding applications to shout about the amazing work Samaritans does, or providing secretariat support to the Senedd’s Cross-Party Group on Suicide Prevention.

​As an effective and efficient organiser, with a positive and helpful mindset, we’ll rely on you to provide critical support to the Wales team across all areas of business planning and administration, including project management and budgeting.

A great communicator with compassion and dedication for our work and cause, you’ll lead the coordination of many fundamental business activities and operations. work in close collaboration with the Wales team members, volunteers in Wales, UK based staff and with our external stakeholders.

This role provides direct influence over the realisation of core strategic objectives, as well as the smooth functioning of day-to-day business operations. ​

The terms

• A 12-month fixed term contract covering for Maternity leave
• Full time - 35 hours per week
• £31,000 - £33,000 per annum

• Based in South Wales, with a blend of home working and from our Cardiff based office with actual home/office mix to be determined.
• Some occasional out of hours/weekend attendance at events/meetings within the Welsh region.

Samaritans in Wales

​

Join a friendly, supportive, and ambitious staff team in Wales. Our office is in the centre of Cardiff (Cathedral Road); an office within a shared building, close to shops. There are around 700 Samaritans volunteers work across 10 Welsh locations. These volunteers respond to calls for help every day of the week via telephone, e-mail, online chat and in person at our branches or at events across Wales. We also work with the public and the media to inform them about Samaritans and explain how we can help people find their own way forward.

We reach out to groups where there is a high risk of suicide and emotional distress. We work in partnership with other agencies to achieve change locally and inform policy decisions which have an impact on suicide risk.

Key Skills and Competencies required

• Ability to support development and maintenance of successful, inclusive and diverse team who are able to maintain day to day activities of the shop.
• Some commercial awareness with ability to support effective retail processes and strong merchandising
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Shop Manager, and to build positive relationships with other colleagues. provide excellent customer service, and engage with local community and other civil society organisation
• Ability to demonstrate resilience to everyday pressures that come with the role and manage conflicting demands seeking appropriate support, advice and guidance when needed.
• Numerate and financial literate, able to interpret basic financial reports, monitor budgets and maintain shops administrative systems.
