We are looking to recruit an Assistant Family Services Practitioner to assist with the provision of our whole family holistic approach. You will plan and support safe, creative, inclusive, and appropriate play opportunities for children and young people from a range of age groups. In addition to this, you will work with the team to ensure that children are supported with their learning through activities such as after school, homework clubs, practical and other activities when required. You will also work with the team to assist with the development and delivery of the Family Services outreach offer which will require some traveling to other settings to deliver our services off site. These may include temporary accommodation hotels or community venues in Westminster. Additional travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Please note that this role requires flexibility to allow for changes to the weekly rota to meet the needs of our clients. The Family Centre is open on Saturdays and will require some Saturday working. The work pattern rotates from Tuesday – Saturday or Monday – Friday.

You will bring your management experience of providing services to women experiencing Domestic Violence and Abuse including VAWG. With a significant experience of managing, developing and leading teams across a geographically dispersed region and remotely, including harnessing the strengths and potential of staff at all levels, building a strong team culture and maintaining staff motivation, particularly through periods of change. You will have substantial delivery of collaborative working with external agencies, stakeholders, subcontracted partners and extensive management of frontline workers.

The LN comprises 30+ staff working as part of a single team operating across the Methodist Church in Britain. The team is strategically and collaboratively managed by Learning and Development Managers (LDMs), each having responsibility for a number of Learning and Development Officers (LDO) working within a geographical area. - Project management of the capital elements of academy conversion projects

- Managing H&health and safety through the lifecycle of all projects
- Managing the consultations, admissions, branding, marketing, FF&E and uniform of all new schools

- Assisting with the development of policies and procedures concerning the Harris Federation estate
- Assisting with the framework for all estates related statutory elements, including oversight of the implementation and reporting of audits

Days will be varied spanning everything from helping budget holders report to funders; preparing accurate financial reports and management accounts; to creating the budgets and frameworks for long-term financial planning. The rest of the core finance team comprises a Bookkeeper and a pro bono Payroll Officer based in Pembroke College, Cambridge. Other members of the team manage petty cash, look after the room hire business (including invoicing and credit control) and administer pensions.
The trustee’s Finance and Risk Subcommittee formed two years ago and a new trustee position of Treasurer is currently being recruited. The Finance Manager will service and attend the subcommittee’s quarterly meetings and be the main contact point with the Treasurer between meetings.
As a new role there will be plenty of opportunity to mould finance operations across the organisation. Finance systems are currently in place, and have satisfied the auditor over the past few years, but there remains scope for improvement, including through automation and upskilling of the wider team.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Foster a culture of financial responsibility, in conjunction with the Leadership Team.
- Draft the audit file and schedules and assist the auditor with follow up questions and queries.
- Lead on the preparation of the charity's annual budget.
- Prepare fundraising budgets, financial claims and invoices for funders in line with (grant) agreements.
- Approve and act as signatory to all contracts for services issued and received.
