Regional Youth and Community Director
OASIS UK – Youth and Community (OCP)

Permanent, full-time post, 40 hours per week, inclusive of breaks 

Salary: £51,959 per annum (£54,669 p.a. London Weighting for London based staff)

At an exciting and key stage in our journey we have the opportunity for Youth and Community Directors to join our team supporting Oasis’ youth and community work in neighbourhoods in the following regions;

- London and South East (North, Central and South London and Kent - five local Oasis charities)

- North West (Greater Manchester – two local charities, and two regionwide youth violence contracts)

- North East (NE Lincs, Humber, Bradford and Sheffield – four local charities)

With accountability to the Oasis CEO for Youth and Community the role of the regional Youth and Community Director will have three main functions:

1 Strategic management oversight of local Youth and Community teams

2 Regional development, working alongside other functions within the Oasis family

3 Being part of the national Youth and Community leadership team

The Youth and Community Director will have strategic management oversight of local Youth and Community teams in the region, providing accountability and support to the local leaders and charity boards. This responsibility area falls into two categories; those the Director is directly responsible for, and those they are responsible for ensuring are carried out by those within their region.

The Youth and Community function of Oasis is responsible for the wider community work that takes place within Oasis neighbourhoods, working closely with the other functions of Oasis to outwork our vision. In relation to governance, Oasis Community Partnerships is the national charity, with each local team operating from their own local Oasis charity.

Student Activities Coordinator – 2 positions available

We’re looking for someone with a passion for supporting student-led opportunities and volunteering, with a drive to empowering others and breaking down barriers to participation.

The Students’ Guild supports a wide range of student-led activities which provide exciting and rewarding opportunities for our members. This role supports the Activities Team to proactively support and empower student-led activities, as well as championing a diverse range of student-led interests that enable development, participation and belonging.

You’ll be one of the key staff contacts supporting over 300 student-led societies. Providing support in volunteer management such as recruitment, induction, training, reward and recognition. Ensuring student group activity runs safely, as well as supporting the strategic development of the groups, ensuring as many students as possible have access to diverse, engaging and positive extra-curricular experiences.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People has been creating life-changing partnerships between hearing dogs and deaf recipients since 1982. Role Brief:

This is an exciting new role for an enthusiastic and innovative professional seeking to further their career in the training and youth development field. The post holder will be responsible for  delivering a range of workshops, seminars and accreditations as part of our new cross-border PEACE Academy programme in Belfast and Sligo, funded by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) PEACEPLUS programme https://www.seupb.eu/

The aim of this new three-year programme, is to deliver and evidence a PEACE Academy pathway of engagement, learning, social action and employability that will inspire young people from communities in Northern Ireland and Ireland to create shared experiences and build a long-term response to sectarianism, racism and hate on a cross community and cross border basis. 

We are seeking an experienced training professional who can lead on delivering our training offer for young people across these regions; supporting our youth workers to progress them from grassroots activities delivered in community settings through workshops, training, and accreditation and into onward career initiatives and pathways offered by our partners.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Planning and administration of a range of workshops, seminars, and accreditations for young people in Sligo and Belfast in line with agreed targets. 

• Working with our regional coordinators on arranging suitable venues, support staff, resources and materials required for each workshop/seminar/course. 

• Delivery and assessment of training courses through Open College Network including internal verification. 

• Maintaining our iPads and online learner portal, ensuring e-workbooks are completed and uploaded and devices are wiped clean after each use.

• Working with our wider project team on the administrative training function ensuring all e-workbooks are submitted in a timely manner, certificates distributed and invoices are sent to our Finance Officer marked clearly for this programme. 

• Working with regional Coordinators on the development of careers events and initiatives alongside a range of partner organisations and employers. 

• Collating and sharing key quantitative output data and qualitative feedback and case studies with our regional Coordinators and Monitoring Officer enabling them to track progress against targets and upload dedicated learner information to our VIEWs monitoring software in a timely and efficient manner.

Person Specification/Key skills: 

• QTS status or min. Level 3 Award in Education & Training 

• Experience of designing workshops and training materials

• Experience of delivery and verification of OCN accredited courses

• Experience of working with employers to create youth progression pathways

About the role

As a Children’s Residential Worker, you will directly look after children and young people who have complex emotional and mental health needs due to trauma, loss and other adverse experiences.

You will be required to support children to regulate and understand their emotions. Working within a therapeutic framework, you will develop a direct programme of work aimed at developing authentic relationships with our children and young people (aged 12 – 17 years old on admission to the Children’s Home).

You will have a key role in making sure our children are safe and happy. You will also be required to work collaboratively with key professionals to ensure that information is recorded and shared appropriately, as well as to enable children to receive the multi-agency support that they require.

If applying for the Day position, you will be required to do sleep-ins paid at £50 each.

If applying for the Waking Night position, you will have the additional support of an on-call manager should there be any emergencies. Further to this, you will be involved in monthly team meetings and receive monthly supervision.

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (i.e. Level 3 Diploma Children and Young People Workforce with the children's social care pathway) as per Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 (England).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working and supporting children and Young People to achieve their full potential.
• Genuine commitment to working with and supporting children and Young People to achieve their full potential; with the ability to build and promote trusted relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• An understanding of the issues facing children and Young People and a basic understanding of safeguarding Regulations and Procedures.

Job Description

Responsible for:

Advising food bank clients and conducting assessments with people who are experiencing financial crisis or hardship and struggling to pay off debt. Required to provide advice through various service delivery points, including outreach locations.

Responsible to: Team leader, and Service Delivery Manager

Base Location: The LSFB Community Hub, Wigston, Leicestershire

Hours: 20 Hours per week

Term: Fixed Term until October 2026. This may be extended dependant on further funding opportunities

Salary:£13.50ph
Holidays: 25 days p.a. plus 8 days Bank Holidays pro-rated if the role is part time

Main Responsibilities

● Uphold the aims and principles of the Helping Hands Community Trust and the Leicester South Foodbank.

● Work within the service’s ethos and values, especially regarding equality and discrimination.

● Work within health and safety guidelines, sharing responsibility for own health and safety and that of colleagues.

● Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures and undertake appropriate training.

● Meet with clients face-to-face

● Provide confidential, specialist, debt and budget advice to clients at our main hub and in consultation with the line manager’s, outreach surgeries and venues across Leicester and Leicestershire

● Research, validate, and analyse information provided by a client in order to support and advise them on how to prioritise their debts and ways to repay it affordably and provide advice on dealing with the impacts

● Develop and agree realistic client budgets that fully reflect the client’s situation.

● Present a range of solutions, pointing out the advantages and disadvantages according to the client’s personal situation and make recommendations based on this information

● Compile financial statements

● Advocating on behalf of clients when negotiating with creditors, and other 3rd party organisations

● Ensure that all advice and solutions are presented in accordance with the charity’s policies and procedures and in line with AQS (Advice Quality Service) and thereby compliant with FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and Debt Management directives)

● Assessing client needs through confidential interviews and hold a personal caseload

● Assist people to complete forms, writing letters or making phone calls on behalf of claimants

● Provide advocacy and assist clients with appeals and preparation for tribunals where the client has grounds to challenge decisions

Casework

• Using the CMS AdvicePRO database to maintain electronic case records, for the purpose of continuing casework and information retrieval. These records must be inputted onto the database immediately following the appointment to ensure the records are up to date and accurate
• Act where necessary by calculating, drafting or writing letters and producing written submissions for clients as appropriate
• Negotiate with third parties
• Ensure income maximisation through the take up of appropriate benefits
• Prepare paper submissions to the appropriate statutory bodies, tribunals and courts as appropriate.
• Assist with related problems where they are an integral part of the case and refer to other advisers or specialists as appropriate.
• Make outreach visits, where necessary and subject to resources and risk assessments.

Personal Specification

Essential:
