Purpose of the Role:

We seek a Web Manager (Unpaid Volunteer) to support our website upgrade, digital and fundraising strategy, manage WordPress sites, optimise user experience, and drive results through improved web performance.  You'll identify new projects to develop innovative products that generate revenue for the business.  This is a key role in which your expertise in digital marketing, web management, SEO and traffic conversions is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and optimise WordPress sites: Ensure consistency in brand messaging across all web properties, optimise user experience (UX), and maximise conversion opportunities.
• Revamp donation system: Develop our new fundraising system using Stripe donations and ensure compliance to prevent scam donations and money laundering.
• Regular updates and improvements: Stay ahead by reviewing and updating web presence, emerging trends, and best practices.
• Develop and install a Membership system for people joining AHO. AHO is becoming a membership organisation to empower members to decide how AHO is managed and to generate income through membership fees.
• Build and develop an Online Shop. The first stage is a Virtual Online Shop selling project items instead of money, for example, selling bricks to build a hospital instead of asking for money.  The second stage is an Online Shop selling physical African foodstuffs, clothing, etc..
• Design and build health tools, such as BMI Index scales, health quizzes, medical screenings, assessments, and questionnaires, to enhance the website's interactivity and educational value.
• Expand and add new sections to the current website, such as the Projects and Impact sections, showcasing our projects and their impact through stories, videos, and case studies.
• Performance Optimisation: Enhance search engine rankings and overall website performance using expert-level SEO.
• Analytics and reporting: Track and analyse web traffic, sales metrics, and marketing data to measure success, forecast trends, and provide actionable insights to the bus.

As a Community Visual Media Volunteer, you’ll:

• Capture high-quality photos and videos of groups, events, and activities
• Work alongside staff to plan and attend sessions and events
• Ensure photo/video consent is gained and recorded appropriately
• Upload and organise media on a shared drive for staff to use in reports, social media, and promotional materials

You’ll play a key role in helping us highlight the positive impact of our work and inspiring others to get involved

Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.

The Derbyshire Recovery Peer Support Service (DRPSS) helps people improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing, and reconnect with their local community. We offer one-to-one support, telephone support, and community groups to anyone over 18 in Derbyshire who is experiencing mental ill health.

Your creative skills will help bring our service to life, celebrate people’s stories, and showcase the difference our community makes.

WHO ARE WE?

Palmed Academy, the education arm of Palmed UK, is training the next generation of healthcare workers in Gaza. There is an extreme shortage of health workers and limited educational opportunities for medical, dental, and nursing students in Gaza. 

We aim to provide medical, nursing, and dental students with the resources, training, and opportunities to advance their education and become the future healthcare workforce in the Gaza Strip. We do this using a hybrid learning model - an online learning platform supported by international faculty to supplement on-the-ground clinical teaching by local faculty and healthcare workers.

This program is entirely free for the students. It costs about USD 150 / month to produce One Future Healthcare Worker through this program.

OUR IMPACT 

2100 Palestinian medical students are continuing their undergraduate education through GEM’s hybrid model. We have expanded to include nursing and dental  programs. 200 new doctors graduated in Gaza in January 2025, and our first cohort of nurses is set to follow in summer 2025.

Project Safe Refuge (PSR)

PSR uses a participatory approach to create thoughtful, functional spaces that offer safety, dignity, and a sense of belonging to displaced communities.

As of 2024, over 122.6 million people worldwide have been forcibly displaced due to conflict, persecution, and natural disasters. While early warning systems, emergency preparedness, and climate adaptation efforts have reduced loss of life, the reality remains stark: millions—especially those in vulnerable, low-income communities—continue to lose their homes and livelihoods. Climate change is intensifying these crises, and the number of displaced people is expected to grow significantly in the years ahead. If displaced communities are fortunate enough to get a shelter they could also face further issues with shelters not being climate or culture appropriate, which can further worsen their mental and physical health.

At PSR, we work closely with displaced communities to understand their needs firsthand. Using our experience in architecture, design, and construction, we create thoughtful, functional spaces that offer safety, dignity, and a sense of belonging. Our work is rooted in collaboration, resilience, and the belief that everyone deserves a place to call home—even in the most challenging circumstances.

We design with the people, for the people, using a participatory approach. Through workshops, surveys and more we involve the communities in the creation of their spaces. We aim for our projects to be sustainable, circular and affordable.

Our vision for volunteering

Volunteering is and always will be at the heart of Cats Protection. It is joyful and inclusive. As a charity, working in partnership, together we transform the lives of cats, people and communities.

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you! 

You can expect us to

• Make you feel welcome, included and respected in line with our values and behaviours
• Support you in having a positive and impactful experience at Cats Protection
• Cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• Provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection
