Role and Responsibilities
We are looking to recruit a law graduate (1-3 years post-graduation) with experience in environmental law, economic justice and/or international development to join our small but dynamic team. Depending on experience, the role will support our programmes challenging economic injustice caused by environmental damage, biodiversity loss, deforestation, illegal resource trafficking, climate change and conflicts over natural resources; promoting transparency and accountability in public and private institutions to encourage responsibility and minimise the impacts of corruption; and promoting fairer and more effective economic and fiscal policy tools to help states meet development goals and enhance the rule of law. Working as part of a small, busy team, you will have the opportunity to learn at very close hand what it means to work for an international NGO focusing on achieving environmental and economic justice. You will develop projects with a range of partners, including international agencies, NGOs and CSOs, and governments and government bodies. You will collaborate with a range of volunteer lawyers (law firms and barristers chambers) who are leading experts in their field. The role will also involve project management, assistance with fundraising, fulfilling compliance obligations, and evaluating and learning from projects.
Key Competencies:
• Relevant experience and knowledge (either from previous work experience or study) relating to environmental law and policy and/or economic justice in an international development context;
• A law graduate with a good understanding of how law is useful to achieving reform on the above;
• Demonstrable understanding (either from previous work experience or study) of key issues in sustainable international development, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals;

Key Responsibilities:

Main purpose of post

What you do:
Delivery of Information and Support to people living with and beyond cancer and their families.
The post holder will:

This will include addressing concerns and queries and working to resolve them and the ability to recognise and work within the limits of own competence and responsibility is crucial, referring issues beyond these limits to relevant people.
• Provide basic supporting information around topics such as reducing the risk of cancer, cancer screening, healthy living, the impact of cancer, in the most appropriate format (e.g. written, verbal, and others as appropriate to overcome any barriers to communication).
• Provide information on topics such as e.g. benefits, travel insurance, and facilitate access to services e.g. specialist benefits advice, complementary therapy.
• Liaise with relevant staff at all levels as appropriate both within the charity and externally to address issues identified, and seek advice with more complex issues, directly involving others where necessary, e.g. Cancer Information and Support Advisor or Senior Advisor; Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS).
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective relationships with partner organisations in primary and secondary and voluntary the sector via networking, also giving talks and presenting at relevant groups.
• Deliver awareness raising activity to promote the service.
Operational delivery

Marketing & Communications

A Partner in Education (APIE) is a small charity established in 2009 to support education development in Rwanda and make a positive difference to children’s futures. APIE has developed teacher training programmes in Early Childhood Education and Education for Positive Peace. We also collaborate closely with our partner school, Umubano Academy, which has become a centre of excellence for teaching and learning, as well as a beacon school for peace in Rwanda.
We are looking for an Operations and Communication Manager who is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children in Rwanda to join our small, dedicated team. The post holder will work remotely full time, with occasional in-person meetings and the opportunity to visit our projects in Rwanda. This UK based role is at the centre of our small international charity and has two significant parts:
i) Managing the general administration and operations of APIE in the UK, including systems for governance, communications, finances and compliance.
ii) To deliver our internal and external communications strategy, write and disseminate publicity material, and respond to inquiries from the public and media.

Essential Criteria:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a relationship-based role, e.g. in fundraising, account management, sales, or relevant field.
- Experience of working in a busy team across multiple projects.
- Highly IT literate with confidence in using full MS suite, CRMs and digital tools.
- Full driving licence and/or access to a suitable means of transport to travel across the region regularly (at least 1 day per week).
- Passionate about ending homelessness in NI.

The National House Project (NHP) takes a ground-breaking approach through its commitment to young people’s ownership to enable young people leaving care to lead connected and fulfilling lives. The approach was co-designed with young people from the start and works on cooperative and social pedagogical principles through a groupwork approach which is supported by adults and young people in and leaving care working together. Using a psychologically informed relational practice framework young people gain skills, knowledge and the confidence to make their house a home and build a long-term community of support.
NHP supports Local House Projects (LHP) to put young people at the centre of the decision-making processes, challenges staff to work with them in an inclusive way and encourages staff to support young people to find the solutions to the challenges they face. LHP achieve improved outcomes for young people, supports professionals in the ways that they work with young people and enable young people to leave care in a supported and ‘less scary’ way.
To ensure that young people are involved at every level of the organisation, each LHP is represented by 2 young people at regional meetings and from these forums, young people elect their representatives for Care Leavers National Movement. CLNM provides a forum to develop practice, share ideas and find solutions to challenges. The Chair and Vice Chair of CLNM are supported by CLNM Champions and sit on the Board of Trustees as expert advisors.
To support the expansion of the Charity we have increased our strategic capacity by creating the post of Deputy Director and are now recruiting to the practice lead roles.
