Access to high-quality, accurate and independent information underpins a functioning democracy. Our aim is to ensure better understanding of current affairs and complex issues by publishing explanatory journalism, analysis and reports of research findings produced by academics with recognised expertise. The Conversation aims to enrich public discussion and provide easy access to quality information, with knowledge that can be trusted and information that is useful.

Since our launch in 2013, The Conversation has grown to a staff of 40 and has recently launched a commercial subsidiary, Universal Impact. We are looking for a new Office Manager to manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the company. 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee office operations and procedures for The Conversation, including some limited support for Universal Impact;

• Work with the Chief Executive and Editor to ensure a safe, collegiate and healthy office environment

• Maintain office policies and procedures, updating documentation as needed

• Manage day to day HR activities, scheduling appraisals, managing holiday, staff development

• Support HR functions such as onboarding/offboarding, maintaining employee records, and coordinating staff wellbeing initiatives

• Assist with recruitment processes, including drafting job descriptions, posting vacancies, and coordinating candidate communications 

• Act as secretariat for The Conversation’s various boards, scheduling meetings, distributing papers, and taking accurate minutes

• Plan, schedule and coordinate internal events, team meetings, and staff away days

• Accepting and sorting mail and deliveries

• Supporting the planning of events and supporting office social activities (including team bonding)

• Support the Finance team

• Arrange travel and accommodation for staff as required

• Assisting in ad hoc administration tasks as needed

Requirements/Skills:

• Previous office management experience required

• Previous HR experience desirable

We are delighted to be working exclusively with a well-known charity, who are seeking a Direct Marketing and Legacy Manager. This exciting opportunity begins in September on a 12-week contract, making it ideal for someone finishing a contract in August or looking to start a new role after the summer break. There is also the potential for this position to become permanent following the initial contract period.

This role is crucial in supporting the strategic direction and operational plans for individual giving programmes, including appeals, regular giving, and legacies, with the aim of maximising net income from both new and existing streams. The Direct Marketing and Legacy Manager will play a key part in reigniting the legacy programme and growing overall Individual Giving income to ensure long-term support for their service users. 

Key responsibilities:

• Work with the Head of department to plan and oversee retention and acquisition campaigns, ensuring they meet income and expenditure targets.

• Create KPIs and income targets, measuring and reporting on progress against the Individual Giving and Legacy strategy, making data-driven decisions.

• Further the Digital Strategy, optimising digital response as a primary opportunity.

• Develop and implement a multi-year legacy strategy to build a strong legacy pipeline, consistently meeting or exceeding annual income targets.

• Develop and manage new Retention and Acquisition initiatives.

• Manage existing activities, review, evaluate, and report on them in a timely manner to optimise and expand income goals.

• Ensure close working across the organisation to demonstrate impact and build collaborative funding approaches.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on sector and market trends and the legal environment impacting legacy fundraising.

• Create a legacy stewardship plan and manage the portfolio of legacy supporters and prospects.

• Create clear supporter journeys for new and existing supporters, legacy donors, and prospects.

• Write and coordinate the delivery of persuasive legacy marketing, cultivation, and stewardship materials.

• Maintain meticulous records on the CRM and work closely with the Legacy Administrator to ensure income is properly received, recorded, and reported.

• Work with other members of the team to create a long-term strategy to improve joint communications.

• Work with the communication team to build a bank of personal stories for compelling appeals.

About the Youth Endowment Fund

 

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice. 

Last year, 244 people in England and Wales tragically died after being assaulted with a knife. Of these, 32 were children. Every child captured in these numbers is an important member of our community and society has a duty to protect them. Even when violence doesn’t strike directly, we know that the fear of violence has a terrible effect on children’s lives.

The Youth Endowment Fund exists to try and permanently change things. To succeed, we must build an exceptional body of knowledge about violence affecting young people and how we reduce it. This knowledge has to be both rigorous and highly relevant to those making decisions about how to support vulnerable young people. We need to find out what works and what doesn’t through evidence synthesis, data analysis and qualitative research into children’s lives. We need to convert this into highly accessible content on what works, how delivery organisations need to change their practice and how the systems they operate in need to be reformed. We then need to work with the right people that can make change happen, across systems, policies and practice, to have a real impact on reducing violence affecting children’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

Deciding which projects, we should fund and evaluate is key, as is making sure we deliver our funding and evaluations to the highest standards. Our Programme Managers are responsible for identifying, assessing, funding and supporting programmes designed to prevent youth violence.

Programme Managers at YEF come from all walks of life. We look for individuals who may have experience in the youth sector, children’s social care, policing, criminal justice, education or how to involve local residents in making decisions about their own neighbourhoods.

As a Programme Manager at YEF, you will work very closely with our evaluation team to make sure we learn from what’s being implemented and that the organisations we fund are prepared and excited to work with us to find what works.

To achieve this, you will:

· Make sure we choose the best organisations to work with by assessing funding applications, critically appraising delivery plans and budgets, getting to know potential grantees and conducting site visits. These assessments will help you form recommendations to our senior leadership team about which opportunities to pursue.

· Work closely with grantees, external evaluators and our own evaluation team to ensure that the activity we are funding will be evaluable. This requires you to support and advise grantees on how to work in the context of an evaluation – usually, a randomised trial (you don’t have to have experience working on a randomised trial in the past, but it helps!).

· Build strong relationships with our grantees and provide them with ongoing management and support through the life of their funding. You will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of grantees and ensuring targets are met and any project risks are effectively mitigated.

· Think carefully about how we find the best projects to fund and evaluate, ensuring we can best find what works to keep children safe. To do this you might need to work with colleagues to spot where there has previously been a lack of evidence about what works (we will help you with this!). You would project manage these projects so they are excellently delivered – on time, within budget, and to a high standard. You will help to determine what our commissioning processes aim to achieve and design grant application processes to achieve it.

· You’ll manage our engagement with potential grantees to make sure we are attracting a diverse and promising portfolio of organisations to apply.

· Report to our team and external stakeholders regularly on how well the projects we are funding are going, spotting where grantees need support and coming up with how we can best provide that support.

· Represent the Youth Endowment Fund at external events, including reporting and presenting to our Grants and Evaluation Committee, who approve all our funding decisions.

About You

You can also identify when things aren’t going to plan and be proactive with sharing observations and recommendations.
• You are an optimiser. You look for solutions and think creatively to overcome challenges. You are curious, hungry to learn and always looking for ways to improve processes and increase efficiency and impact.
• You love well-designed systems. You are committed to designing and maintaining the best systems to make sure we manage our commissioning processes well. You know this is critical to effectively managing multiple, large-scale funding programmes and competing priorities.

Role Summary 

As our Bid Writer, you will strategically lead AWN’s fundraising support to grassroots primarily Muslim-led organisations. You will help shape the service and act as the primary advisor on grant funding, deliver high-quality bids, and build AWN’s capacity to increase the flow of resources into underserved communities. This is a chance to directly contribute to lasting social change for underrepresented Muslim communities in the UK. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead and support bid writing for grassroots organisations aligned with AWN’s priorities. 

• Write grant applications directly on behalf of multiple small grassroots organisations, ensuring proposals are tailored to each funder's priorities and the unique strengths of each group.

• Design and deliver training sessions, webinars, and 1-to-1 support on grant writing. 

• Build strategic relationships with funders, local councils, and second-tier organisations. 

• Promote AWN’s funding support services across networks and platforms.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a thoughtful, motivated Junior Product Manager to join the Product Team at upReach.

In this role, you’ll help improve the digital tools we use to support thousands of students from underrepresented backgrounds to access top careers. Working closely with developers, colleagues from the Product Team, and our users themselves, you’ll support the development of products that make a real difference - every day.

You don’t need to have worked in product management before. If you’re excited about using technology to make things better, and you enjoy solving problems and collaborating with others, we’d love to hear from you.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

You’ll contribute to the development of one of our key products, supporting its continuous improvement from idea to launch and beyond.

This will include:

• Understanding our users' needs by gathering feedback and doing user research

• Working with developers to bring ideas to life and resolve bugs or issues

About the Role

Job Description

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Senior Research Manager to manage the monitoring, evaluation and learning activities of a high profile National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio of translational, clinical and applied health research infrastructure funding schemes. 

Job Purpose 
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the post holder will work closely with the rest of the infrastructure team (especially the Programme Leads and Senior Research Managers who are responsible for the development and management of the infrastructure schemes), and with Data Analytics colleagues (who are responsible for designing systems for capturing, cleaning and presenting data), to manage the infrastructure reporting and evaluation activities. At an award level, you will develop, improve and maintain monitoring and reporting processes, and at a scheme level, you will implement monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches, including overseeing the delivery and/or commissioning of impact evaluations. You will support a wider programme around visibility and the strategic use of data within infrastructure, considering links to policy directives around Busting Bureaucracy, the developing NIHR digital strategy and system operability issues with NHS and University systems. 

You will be adept at dealing with an array of data sources (metrics, narrative and financial reporting information), have a good understanding of research impact, an understanding of the routes to achieving it, and how to apply monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches to generate insight that can evidence impact and support continuous improvement of scheme funding and support processes. You will have experience of managing complex projects, knowledge of the UK’s research environment and political agenda, and honed skills in stakeholder management. You will be a strategic thinker, capable of seeing the issues and solutions from a number of different stakeholder perspectives to see the bigger picture. You will be comfortable dealing with complexity and developing an approach to balance the needs of different stakeholders. You will be a team player, able to work in close partnership with a number of teams at NIHR and the DHSC.

Key Accountabilities:

• Manage elements of the infrastructure monitoring processes: you will manage parts of the infrastructure reporting process both internally at the technical systems level and externally with users to support training and propose improvements. You will work with others to develop new reporting processes (for new awards), maintain existing annual and quarterly reporting, support the review of submitted reports by the team and the production of feedback, and drive process improvements through a continuous improvement cycle.

• Development of reporting outputs: support quantitative and qualitative data interrogation in projects across the infrastructure. Interrogating data to support strategic reviews, and, where feasible and appropriate, designing visual dashboards of progress using data collected and collated for reporting purposes. Also draw on award level reported data to feed into strategic scheme level evaluations and reviews, to produce impact case studies, and to feed into organisational level learning and reporting. This work will help articulate the contribution of the NIHR infrastructure to the wider health and social care system as well as feeding into broader NIHR initiatives such as the NIHR Impact Programme.

• Scheme reviews: support the delivery of scheme mid-term reviews and evaluations, working closely with the infrastructure team’s Senior Research Managers responsible for specific schemes and the central Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team to design and plan an appropriate review process for individual schemes.

• Stakeholder engagement: through appropriate stakeholder engagement, developing a sound understanding of data needs, minimising additional requirements of key stakeholders and understanding the types of reporting outputs/feedback that would provide the greatest utility for accountability and learning purposes. Proactively share key learnings across the infrastructure team and with wider stakeholder groups as appropriate.

• Flexible support to the team:  flexible approach to work tasks with ability to ‘muck in’ and provide support on additional tasks across the team during busy times.

Line Management:

• The post holder will be responsible for the line management of one Research Manager and will matrix manage other team members, where appropriate.

Qualifications

Experience and Technical Skills

• A PhD degree in biomedical or health sciences research (or significant equivalent sector experience)

The Prison Phoenix Trust

The PPT are the leading experts in yoga and meditation in prisons in the UK and Ireland. Since 1988 we have supported the personal development and rehabilitation people living in prison through meditation and yoga. We do this through 121 mentoring, group yoga classes, peer support newsletters and resources such as books and DVDs that help people practise yoga and meditation in their cells. We deliver the British Wheel of Yoga’s accredited training Teaching Yoga in Prison.

A small staff and volunteer team based in Oxford works with a network of self-employed yoga and meditation teachers across the UK and Ireland.

This new role is part of an expansion of the staff team to build the capacity of the charity to meet the growing demands for its services and the income to support this.

The role

At an exciting time for the expansion of the charity’s fundraising activities, the Development Coordinator will play a pivotal role in driving and expanding the charity’s income from individual donors while leading the development and execution of community fundraising initiatives and events. • Manage and plan the growth of The PPT’s community fund raising activities, with a particular focus on yoga groups and faith groups.
• Review and develop cost-effective levels of support for fundraisers.

3. Donor care:

• Manage relationships with current and prospective donors and fundraisers by ensuring timely acknowledgment of gifts.
• Refine use of automated systems, such as Mailchimp and JustGiving to automate acknowledgement of gifts where appropriate, while ensuring optimum levels of personalisation, such as hand-written cards and notes.  Fulfil established donor journeys, ensuring donor led and annual stewardship is met.

4. Data management, analysis and reporting

• Maintain and update The PPT’s supporter database, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date.  Initially using Access and adapt with the move to a new database/CRM programme.
• Track, monitor and report quarterly on results of FR activities
• Support colleagues in the development and procurement of a new database and/or customer relationship management system.

5. Event Coordination

• Plan and project manage delivery of The PPT’s public facing, fundraising and donor stewardship events including planning, promotion, logistics, and follow-up.
• Integrate donor care into event planning, ensuring that donors feel personally valued and appreciated before, during, and after events.
• Work with Communications Coordinator in producing printed and display materials for events.
• Plan and project-manage delivery of The PPT’s presence at networking events for example in yoga, faith and criminal justice communities.

6. Communications and Marketing

• Contribute to development of social media audiences to meet charity’s profile-raising and fundraising objectives.
• Craft compelling messages and content for supporter communications that highlight The PPT’s mission and impact.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential

• Proven fundraising experience, especially in individual giving (e.g., regular giving, legacies, donor stewardship, direct mail, online fundraising
• Knowledge of best practices and ethical standards in fundraising, with a strong focus on donor care
• Expertise in using Excel and Access to analyse and report on fundraising data
• Skilled in using Mailchimp and CRM systems (e.g. Donorfy, Beacon, Salesforce) to manage donor journeys and stewardship - Comfortable analysing donor trends and campaign performance

Desirable

• Membership of a professional fundraising body (e.g. IoF) or evidence of continuous professional developmen
• Knowledge of emerging trends and innovations in donor engagement and stewardship

The Role
The Prospect Research Manager will lead the development and implementation of a robust prospect research strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders to identify and prioritise opportunities. Key responsibilities include:

About the Role
As HR Project Admin (Flexible Workforce), you will play a key role in supporting the national flexible staffing model. You’ll be responsible for coordinating temporary worker recruitment, managing workforce records, and helping ensure compliance across all casual staffing processes. Working closely with hiring managers, external agencies and the HR and Finance teams, your work will help ensure effective and cost-conscious staffing across services.

Key Responsibilities

· Support recruitment and onboarding of bank and agency staff, including compliance and document checks

· Coordinate and monitor the use of the workforce system (CentralAxis), ensuring managers and workers are fully trained

· Maintain accurate and confidential workforce records in line with GDPR and data protection standards

· Support budget monitoring and reporting on staffing ratios, costs, and agency usage

· Help prepare reports, dashboards and presentations on flexible workforce activity

· Resolve staffing issues including absence, rota conflicts and performance concerns, escalating as needed

· Provide general admin support to the HR and project teams, including scheduling meetings, organising files, and minuting key sessions
