Refuge is recruitment for a Senior Policy and Research Officer to join it's successful Policy and Public Affairs Team.
The Senior Policy and Research Officer will be responsible for conducting qualitative and quantitative research on issues affecting survivors of domestic abuse and propose robust, evidence-based policy recommendations as well as analysing policy developments and producing briefings, reports, and consultation responses to influence public policy. The successful candidate will bring excellent policy analysis, data analysis and research skills as well as strong communication and project management skills.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with survivors of domestic abuse to shape Refuge's policy programme to drive system change to end Violence Against Women and Girls.
This post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

The Public Affairs Lead will be responsible for designing the public affairs plan, drafting briefings for stakeholders and leading a programme of impactful parliamentary events to drive meaningful change to law and policy for the benefit of survivors of domestic abuse. The successful candidate will bring experience of public affairs and stakeholder engagement, excellent communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills and political judgement.
This an exciting opportunity to influence government at the highest levels and play a key role in driving systemic change to end Violence Against Women and Girls.

The Director of Development will be responsible for developing and achieving the organisation's income strategy, with particular focus on developing, prospecting, and building relationships with high value donors, corporates, financial advisors, and wealth management. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, this role will be a strategic Director, whilst also leading on key donor facing relationships. This role will be critical to leading and executing successful engagement strategies for both internal and external stakeholders, with the support of a small team of two.
The successful candidate will be able to evidence setting strategy and delivering successful high value income generation growth. This person will be able to demonstrate identifying and securing gifts of a six-figure plus level. They will have a proven track record of developing and maintaining strategic senior networks. This person will have managed other team members before and be a strong communicator with other senior internal stakeholders and external donors.

As a Head of Individual Giving you will:
- Lead the design and execution of an integrated Individual Giving strategy
- Develop engaging supporter journeys using automation and personalisation tools
- Test and scale new giving products to reach wider and more diverse audiences
- Use data and insight to guide decision making and evaluate success
- Work cross functionally to align fundraising and communications for a cohesive supporter experience
- Manage the delivery of donor appeals and campaigns from concept to execution
About You:
You’re an experienced Individual Giving specialist with a strong track record of delivering income growth across multiple channels. You understand the value of data, automation and personalisation, and know how to turn supporter insight into action.
You’re creative, proactive, and results driven, with excellent communication and relationship building skills. You bring energy, innovation, and a genuine passion for building meaningful supporter relationships that last.
To be successful, you must have experience:
- Significant experience in Individual Giving, Legacy or Personal Giving, including digital
- Strong understanding of donor journeys, segmentation, and CRM systems
- Proven ability to develop and deliver integrated fundraising campaigns
- Experience managing budgets, agencies, and campaign performance
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 DOE
Location: Remote (occasional travel to regional Hubs in the North-East, Manchester, and Norfolk)
Contract: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
