Community Fundraiser - Home Counties

Brain Tumour Research is seeking an experienced and motivated fundraiser to join our team. As a key part of our fundraising efforts in our high-performing East region, you will have the opportunity to drive income generation through a variety of initiatives, including challenge events, fundraising groups, and corporate partnerships such as charity of the year. You will also be responsible for driving initiatives to increase our profile and supporter base within Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Northamptonshire and Essex.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate income across a range of community fundraising initiatives and events, with the opportunity to lead on key projects
- Steward supporters to help drive the charity’s fundraising activities and growth
- Work with the fundraising team to develop and maintain strong relationships with fundraisers, donors, partners, and key stakeholders
- Contribute towards the growth and success of fundraising efforts, ensuring a sustainable income stream for the vital ongoing funding of brain tumour research
Requirements:
- At least one year of fundraising experience, with a proven track record in income generation
- Strong experience in supporter stewardship
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire supporters and partners alike
- Passion for Brain Tumour Research and its mission to fund research and ultimately find a cure

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday 09:00-17:00 with some flexibility
Location: Head Office is in Cardiff however the successful applicant can be based anywhere across Wales as we have offices in multiple locations and remote-working can also be facilitated.
Purpose of Role
To work within the Contracts and Planning team supporting the delivery of the Trust, Foundation and Statutory Programme. The role is responsible for liaising with teams across the organisation to develop funding bids which meet the needs of the organisation and prospect research, income monitoring and reporting requirements.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
1. Work with operational teams to develop funding applications to meet agreed income targets to help fund core activities and priority projects.
2. To develop and maintain a list of suitable, well researched prospects and ensure that opportunities for funding are not missed by maintaining a suitable pipeline.
3. Regular review of income pledges and received, and the funding pipeline, reporting progress and risks to manager.
4. Liaise with relevant project staff to coordinate and submit monitoring and evaluation reports to funders.
5. Ensure all reporting requirements are met in line with agreed deadlines.
6. To ensure that all relevant administration is recorded accurately on the fundraising CRM and shared team databases.
7. To monitor payment dates and ensure payments are received when expected.
8. Build and maintain relationships with funders, helping them to understand the impact of their support.
9. Support the Contracts and Planning Team with other duties as required, contributing flexibly to wider team priorities and organisational needs

Your contractual location of work will be your home. You will be expected to travel in the course of your work including semi regularly to our London Haig House office. You will be contracted to your home address, where you will be expected to work when not travelling.

Do you want to use your extensive welfare benefits and/or asylum support experience to help torture survivors realise their welfare rights and entitlements?
Freedom from Torture is a human rights organisation that provides rehabilitation to survivors of torture. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for human rights to join our team in Glasgow.
The Welfare Advisor works within the holistic rehabilitation model of Freedom from Torture and provides welfare advice and advocacy to our clients, forming part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will receive, process and manage welfare referrals, and act as a point of contact on welfare issues and in particular, for the Scotland centre. This role requires careful and sensitive delivery of complex welfare information and advice, often to very vulnerable clients. You must have in- depth knowledge of the welfare rights and benefits available to asylum seekers and/or refugees. This may include completing Section 4 applications, or appealing negative benefits decisions on health or vulnerability grounds.
About you
The ideal candidate for the role will have the following:
- Experience of working within a similar role providing advocacy on a range of welfare issues to include housing, welfare benefits and Asylum Support
- Extensive experience of working within the benefits system, including the application, assessment and appeals procedures
- Experience working with refugees and asylum seekers and an understanding of the needs of this group and the associated support services and mechanisms available
- Experience of liaising with external agencies and government bodies to ensure that service users are given access to their available welfare rights and entitlements.
At interview you will need to demonstrate your ability to identify welfare needs and provide appropriate advice and recommendations. You will be given a case study to work through and you will be asked to share your analysis and plan with us.
In return, we offer a competitive package, with a generous 30-day annual leave entitlement, and 6% employer pension contribution (minimum 1% employee contribution).

You will play a pivotal role supporting the Charity in several different ways. Working with the Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure the smooth running of the organisation, providing administrative support to the Director of Operations and the Chief Executive. As a self-starter you will manage a range of tasks such as diary management, meeting minutes, assisting with event administration and HR administration. No two days will be the same!
You will be the point of contact for our HR, recruitment and training systems, ensuring consistency and assurance across the organisation. You will support HR administration such as supporting recruitment, on-boarding and off-boarding of colleagues as well as taking minutes for Board meetings, so you will need to be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
