Job Title: Paediatric Occupational Therapist

Salary: Banding depending on experience, with pension option.
DBS checks are required.
Job Type: Permanent - 15 hours a week on Monday and Fridays, 11 weeks per Hertfordshire term

Playskill is an award-winning specialist early intervention charity supporting pre-school children with physical disabilities and delays, and their families, in Hertfordshire. We are the only charity providing this type of support, free of charge, in the county.
Since 2006, our highly qualified and experienced team has supported over 440 physically disabled children and their families to access specialist therapy, advice and support, with the end goal of supporting the children to reach personal development milestones and to achieve better life outcomes.
About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join and work in a multidisciplinary team alongside a Physiotherapist and Speech and Language Therapist, family support and specialist workers, and the families/carers of the children.
Skills and Experience Required:

Qualified Occupational Therapist

Relevant experience in the assessment and treatment of children with a physical disability

Clear understanding of current legislation regarding safeguarding of children

Knowledge of GDPR legislation to ensure clear understanding of confidentiality and the need for data protection

Established in 1997, Jigsaw4u provide a range of services for children, young people, families and vulnerable adults experiencing complex social and emotional difficulties across South West London. Jigsaw4u has experienced considerable growth and development over the past several years. Jigsaw4u’s Board of Trustees and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) have recognised the need for dedicated staffing resource to hold the day-to-day responsibility for the service management function as part of our Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
As a member of our SLT, you will help to deliver and shape and the organisation’s vision and strategy. It will be your responsibility to ensure that Jigsaw4u’s services achieve their goals, meet their strategic objectives and achieve our growth targets while being delivered to Jigsaw4u’s exceptionally high standards.
Under the direction of the CEO, the postholder’s areas of responsibility will be to:
- Line Manage the Service Managers, ensuring that their teams are high performing, reporting and data collection is of a high standard and relationships with funders and other stakeholders are outstanding.
- Ensure that the structure of all Jigsaw4u services are optimised to allow for growth and support staff and volunteers (including trainee counsellors/therapists) to develop key skills.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of best practice within the charitable sector (and other sectors where relevant), to inform and update Jigsaw4u so that we take advantage of the latest approaches to change, innovation and development which can have a positive impact on our beneficiaries lives.
- Work proactively and collaboratively to identify innovation and business improvement within the SLT to define and agree Target Operating Models and oversee implementation and ongoing review. Use insight, evaluation and analysis to continually inform and refine practice.
- Play a full part in the development of the SLT and deputise for the CEO as required. Work closely with the Service Management Team to develop and deliver an outstanding approach to people management, building a learning culture that delivers high quality, extensive support enabling people to achieve their best as a team.
- Represent Jigsaw4u at formal meetings with funders and other stakeholders and through submission of reports and data requests. Establish new, and strengthen existing, external relationships to promote Jigsaw4u’s profile, influence and reputation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, and adherence to relevant professional codes and standards of good practice.
- Support the CEO in funding and tender applications
- Support the CEO and fundraising team in generating income
As a member of the SLT you will be expected, with training and support, to take an active part in supporting the whole organisation. Experience and aptitude to provide calm leadership and a supportive problem-solving approach to practical problems and judgements involving risk is necessary.

About the Role
We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Therapy Service Manager (Job Share) to co-lead our passionate therapy team at Headway East London. The Therapy Service Manager is responsible for leading the therapy team to plan and deliver an excellent service which empowers our community of brain injury survivors. This role is a job share and covers the following aspects of the Headway East London Therapy Service: Enfield Brain Injury Service (Enfield) and our Hackney-based Day Service.
As Therapy Service Manager, you will lead the delivery of therapy services within both the Day Service and Enfield, ensuring high standards, consistency, and a strong sense of purpose across the team. You will play a vital role in the growth and development of the therapy offer across all of Headway East London, working closely with your job share partner and the Director of Services (Clinical Lead) to shape and expand our provision.
This is a unique opportunity for someone with strong clinical leadership and strategic planning skills to help shape the future of our therapy services.
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Provide leadership to the therapy team to ensure the efficient delivery, quality and consistency of this service within Enfield and the Day Service.
- Manage the development of plans and strategies for the therapy team and instil a sense of collaboration, common goals and working together across the team to ensure the sustainability of the service.
- Build good relationships with stakeholders in the boroughs we serve to develop opportunities for growth and development of our services.
- Work with the Director of Services (Clinical Lead) on commissioning/tender/framework contracting arrangements with the ICS’s we serve.
- Work with staff to ensure our members’ voices are at the centre of everything we do.
- Work with the Director of Services (Clinical Lead) and the Finance team to ensure unit costs are accurate and work to ensure full costs of the service are recovered from customers.
- Work with the Director of Services (Clinical Lead) and the Director of Development to explore new opportunities to develop our business to generate income.
- Assist the Director of Services (Clinical Lead) to explore and implement effective ways to evidence the outcomes of our members and the impact of our services to demonstrate our effectiveness.
