As a Community Shop Manager for St Giles Hospice you will lead a team of paid staff and volunteers. You’ll be empowered to make decisions locally whilst working within a supportive framework. You’ll work within and for your local community ensuring that engagement and support is understood and promoted.

You’ll have great commercial skills, an understanding of why customer service is key and want to be part of a successful team. Ideally you’ll have previous retail management experience, be able to demonstrate strong leadership and have the ability to work with and motivate any team. 

Reporting into a Regional Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that your store runs efficiently and delivers a positive financial contribution to the Hospice. You’ll also have the support of a Regional Supervisor, available to provide encouragement and development of best practice.

The estate includes 22 shops and e-commerce operation with a turnover of approx. £3million which supports the overall income generation strategy.

About this key role

As a valued and integral part of the Fundraising and Communications team, our successful candidate will lead a small sub-team to generate at least £500,000 income each year, including the direct line management of a Senior Fundraising Officer, who you will support to line manage the Fundraising Assistant.  We will count on you to implement effective processes and procedures across the Fundraising and collaborating teams, manage and refine processes for recordkeeping and devise, maintain and update our Fundraising Handbook.

About this key role
Our successful candidate will assess referred clients, with reference to St Giles Trust assessment practices, and produce support and risk management plans based on these assessments, promoting inter-agency collaboration in the assessment and planning process.  You will be expected to deliver a holistic support service, working independently or with colleagues as the situation dictates, providing practical help such as social and housing support, education, training and employment options, benefits work and debt advice. 

We will also rely on you to develop and maintain relationships with referral agencies, ensuring a steady flow of appropriate referrals onto the scheme, and with regional agencies, including police and social services.  Closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a survival plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future, is also an essential aspect of this role. 

What we are looking for

• To have worked on an offender-led support project, had personal experience of the criminal justice system, served a prison sentence, or still be serving a prison sentence in a prison within reach of Bradford.
• Experience in negotiation with partner agencies to establish links to further aims of the project.
• Experience of engaging successfully with people with challenging or complex needs.
• To have a relevant qualification to a good standard, or be working towards one.
• Sound knowledge of ‘County Lines’ and the Government’s Prevent programme .
• Knowledge of services for offenders and patterns of offending in Leeds borough/s.
• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills, verbal and written.
• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.

About this exciting opportunity

As Young Adults Caseworker, you will focus on promoting the project and engaging with your clients in line with the project’s targets and providing a client-led support service and advocacy that responds to each individual’s needs and achieves project outcomes. You will also deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as the situation dictates, that will include practical help such as mentoring, social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options, benefits work, debt advice, liaising with utilities, DIY work and cleaning.

You will support clients to develop individual action plans and regularly review these plans with your clients to assess progress, plus produce risk management plans based on assessments.  We will also count on you to develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies, including community-based services such as Police, YOT, Probation, children’s services and local authorities, as well as ensuring you close cases efficiently and positively, identifying a referral route for young people that can be used for ongoing support.

• Experience in working as part of a multi-agency team, working together to achieve positive outcomes for young adults and establishing links to further the aims of a project.

We are seeking a highly organised Children and Young Person’s Specialist Exploitation Caseworker to work alongside Somerset Council’s Exploitation Service.

They will combine their lived experience of overcoming similar barriers to the client group and their professional experience to provide crucial guidance, support, and mentorship to children and young people who are being, or at high risk of being exploited.

Through 1:1 mentoring, you will ensure children and young people are equipped to think critically, assess risk, and make better life choices. You will also support them to overcome personal challenges and achieve personal goals. The resulting mindset shift and confidence makes them more resilient to the risks of becoming involved with substance misuse and/or supply; gangs; exploitation and violence.

About this key role

As a Settling in Facilitator, you will be embedded within a prison-based setting and provide a quality service to people first entering prison. We will count on you to prepare, plan, and deliver the emotional resilience interactive sessions to individuals in prison, ensuring all sessions are appropriate and contextualised to reflect the local needs of the prison and its changing population and utilising expertise around lived experience and local knowledge to empower people in prison.

You will also be expected to deliver additional tailored sessions to individuals who are unable to attend the group sessions or require additional support and to use a trauma-informed approach to build trust and create a safe space for people in prison to explore challenging and potentially traumatic issues and topics.

What we are looking for

• Personal experience of the social care system; criminal justice system; or lived experience of the issues facing this client group. However, we also encourage applications from those without lived experience.

As an Assistant Community Shop Manager (ACSM) for St Giles Hospice you will support in leading a team of volunteers. You’ll be empowered to make decisions locally whilst working within a supportive framework. The commission will run from June 2024 for three years. As part of this, an additional service will be set up within the NHYC Youth Justice team specifically to deliver on the Alliance contract. The Services Manager will be the key operational lead for the Alliance, and oversee successful delivery of housing casework services to young people fleeing violence and exploitation who are referred in. You should have experience of working in services that support young people fleeing violence or who are impacted by the criminal justice system, and have a solid understanding of housing options for young people under 25. You should be exceptionally well organised and have excellent partnership management skills.

Salary: £37,024 - £41,600
