Are you interested in supporting people at immediate risk of rough sleeping and making a real difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness in London?

Rough sleeping data shows that migrants make up more than 50% of the people rough sleeping in London. The MAPS service provides a rapid intervention to support clients who are migrants and rough sleeping in London to find a route into accommodation that is suitable and sustainable in the UK or elsewhere in the world. We are looking for someone to join our team as an Assessment and Reconnection Worker where you will:

• Provide rapid holistic assessments with migrants who are rough sleeping across London, helping to clarify entitlements and identify routes off the streets.
• Work with clients to produce person-centred, rights-based actions plans that meet their needs and resolve their rough sleeping in the UK or elsewhere in the world.
• Work closely with external agencies to ensure all clients’ needs are met. Many of our clients have multiple support needs. This may include experience of navigating the immigration and asylum systems, complex trauma, substance misuse and mental and physical health support needs. 
• Advise and support other professionals working with migrants on options to resolve their clients’ homelessness.
• While your usual working hours will be from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, occasional work during early or late hours may occur in response to challenging situations and to prevent rough sleeping. 

About you

We are a small team so try to maximise our resources and find creative solutions to resolve people’s homelessness. Due to the legislative and political climate in which we work, accommodation options are often limited for our client group, and so we are looking for someone who can be flexible, proactive and is passionate about working migrants.

Ideally you would have experience of working with vulnerable people and an understanding of the needs and support requirements of this client group, particularly non-UK nationals.

We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have lived experience of migration and/or speak additional languages to English.

The Rapid Intervention team, will be providing vital outreach support to individuals who are currently rough sleeping across Westminster. The team will work with the objective of supporting those rough sleeping to find a suitable and sustainable route away from the street.

Our belief is that rough sleeping is an intrinsically harmful and dangerous activity both for the individual and for the wider community. Therefore, we take a proactive and assertive approach to supporting people away from this activity. Our aim is to support people to recover from the effects of rough sleeping and move away from a street lifestyle permanently.

• Working as an Outreach Worker you will work with people to assess their needs and deliver a person centred support, as well as working in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams and agencies across the city to meet client’s individual needs.

• It’s not always an easy job, but the opportunity to work with different people every day, helping individuals experiencing homelessness and the local community end the harms of rough sleeping can be highly rewarding.

You will work on a weekly shift rota to ensure we are available to support people experiencing homelessness when they need us the most.

About The Role

Do you have a genuine interest in supporting people to rebuild their lives and the ability to empathise with others?

We're looking for an enthusiastic Complex Needs Worker with considerable experience of working with people with substance misuse, mental health problems and knowledge of the problems that confront homeless people with complex needs. You will be joining the team in our Islington Progression Pathway, a  service that provides accommodation and support to individuals with complex needs in a recovery focused way. The team works collaboratively with clients in a safe and supportive environment in developing goals, plans and strategies to better manage their mental health, substance misuse and any associated risks.  

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to create an environment of person-centred support for clients with complex needs, maintaining a safe environment which clients who have experienced complex trauma are able to build their confidence and discover opportunities for positive change, in line with Psychologically Informed Environment principles and St Mungo’s Framework.
• Identifying and developing external relationships that increase accessibility to support within Islington for clients with complex needs.
• Providing training, support and case management to team members
• This role is Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

About you

We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of substance use and ideally one of the following; Mental health, Trauma Informed Care and/or Psychologically Informed Environments. To be successful in this role you will also require:

• The ability to maintain enthusiasm for a high level of contact with clients on a day to day basis.
• An understanding of a Person Centred approach and a non-judgemental way of working with people who have been homeless, and have perhaps had negative experiences of services.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work with others whilst managing your own time.
• The ability to empower individuals to make positive changes and a willingness to develop these valuable skills. 
• The ability to work flexibly which may include some weekends to ensure continuity of the service.

About the role

The Hammersmith and Fulham Supported Pathway are recruiting for a Support Worker at The Old Theatre; a 12-bed female-only very high support needs hostel based in Hammersmith.

In this role, you will be supporting our clients on their road to recovery in a psychologically informed environment; aiding clients to gain necessary skills to move on from our services and into suitable accommodation. You will work with a caseload of clients, aiding them to gain necessary skills to maintain independence in the community. The role is focused on supporting residents around their strengths and aspirations for the future.

About you

These roles will suit people who can;

• Work with clients to identify their personal aims and ambitions and work towards achieving them.
• Provide practical and personal support to clients in an approachable, caring and person centred way.
• Work as part of a dedicated team to provide safe, high quality, positive and inclusive service to clients.
• Complete administrative records relating to client work, housing management and health and safety.
• Coordinate with external services relating to substance use, mental health, physical health, domestic violence and more, to provide a multiagency approach to clients’ support.

About the role

We are recruiting for a Recovery Support Worker role in our Thornbury Road complex needs hostel, where you will be part of a team providing 24 hour support to 16 clients at the start of their journey with us, supporting them towards greater independence. This role involves shift work, including evenings and weekends.

In the role of Recovery Support Worker, you will be working with our clients on their road to recovery, aiding clients to gain the necessary skills to move on from our services and into suitable accommodation.  You will assist a caseload of clients, supporting them to maintain independence in the community, build on their skills for employment, manage their own health needs, and look towards a brighter future. You will also have some housing management responsibilities as part of ensuring we deliver safe, high quality services. 

Please note, due to the needs of all our services, there is a requirement to work a shift rota, so flexibility is required. This will include some weekends and bank holidays, and the role will be service based with no home working.

About you

To succeed in this highly rewarding role you would benefit if you:

• Have an understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people – you may have had personal experience of homelessness yourself.
• Have experience of helping vulnerable people to identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change.
• Have a sound understanding of the support needs of people with low incomes, including rent payments/arrears and professional boundary issues.
