Main purpose of the job
This role is a central part of the Student Activities and Communities Department, working collectively with colleagues to deliver UoGSU’s work in engaging our student groups, societies and delivering events. We expect this role to deliver an inclusive and engaging environment for all and support students to actively participate in student-led groups. The post holder will co-create events and activities which maximise student engagement and build sense of community at University.
Main duties and responsibilities
High quality student-led events
• Coordinate and working with others promote our student-led societies offer and other student groups within UOGSU.
• Develop, enhance and deliver an active calendar of student-led events.
• Work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders with event planning, design and delivery of student-led events.
• Provide operational support at student-led events and activities.
• Assist in the planning of large-scale events such as Welcome, SU crew volunteering programme, our Varsity series and Student Awards.

About the project
Salmons Brook Restore and Reconnect is a bold and pioneering project. It will restore 3.4km of the Salmons Brook through Enfield Chase, transforming council-owned farmland into a thriving river landscape. It forms a critical early phase of a wider Landscape Recovery scheme, it marks the first use of Stage Zero principles in London, returning the river to its natural, pre-human state.
The restoration will create a dynamic, multi-channel system with wetlands and wet woodlands, boosting biodiversity and climate resilience. It will help protect around 2,000 properties from flooding downstream in Edmonton and has been described by the Environment Agency as “the single most important piece of river restoration work in London to date.”
Local communities will be at the heart of the project. Through inclusive engagement, especially with underrepresented groups, the project will turn the Salmons Brook into a shared space for nature, wellbeing, and connection, delivering lasting environmental and social impact.
Purpose of the job:
We are seeking a skilled engagement officer to work on our projects in London and the Thames Basin. This role offers an opportunity for the post holder to make a difference to diverse areas of London, with differing challenges and an array of ambitions.
Main duties and responsibilities:
· Map the communities in Edmonton to understand local demographics and identify key stakeholders.
· Through a range of activities and meetings, get to know, listen to and build strong working partnerships with community groups and leaders, organisations, institutions and residents, that support, enable, and champion the project.
· Run public consultations and focus groups with underrepresented communities in the environmental sector to explore perceptions, barriers, and ideas about the Salmons Brook River and Enfield Chase.

· Collaboratively design a Programme of River Acitivties, shaped by local communities and relationships with existing volunteer groups, offering inclusive activities such as guided walks, arts-based sessions, and wellbeing events.
· Build a catchment-wide community network, uploading details to Thames21’s CRM system in line with GDPR.
· Represent Thames21 and Salmon’s Brook Restore and Reconnect at relevant local forums and proactively recruit volunteers through in-person engagement events.
· Collect and record qualitative and quantitative data on events and activities run, including written and verbal feedback from partners and participants, photos and numbers of attendees keeping to GDPR requirements. Evaluate this information to develop the methods for engagement and inform future activities.
· Carry out the administrative duties to run events including conducting risk assessments and method statements, managing event registrations, liaising with local councils and community groups and maintaining and managing events equipment.
· Work with the Thames21 Training Officer, to facilitate volunteers to be trained in Thames21’s modules to maintain and monitor local sites. Includes supporting existing volunteers and assisting with building their capacity and connection to the Thames21 network.

The Director of Operations for Edinburgh International Book Festival [EIBF] sits at the intersection of programme delivery, organisational management and operational leadership. The role combines events delivery with charity-wide management. This ensures that EIBF runs smoothly, festivals and events happen effectively, and all activity aligns with our charitable objectives and purpose.
The Director of Operations will lead all operational and logistical aspects of the annual Book Festival and year-round programmes. They will ensure effective governance, efficient systems, safe and compliant event delivery, and ensure resources are allocated appropriately to support the charity’s mission to promote engagement with, and enjoyment of, books, writing and ideas. They will manage relationships and contracts with site and production teams, and a range of other key stakeholders and partners. They will own and actively manage policy and systems management in the organisation, including oversight of digital infrastructure, as well as lead the HR function in a busy organisation.

AFK is a national charity whose mission is to create opportunities for children and young people who are disabled or neurodiverse, to increase their independence, reach their individual potential and remove the barriers they face.
Our vision is a world where there are no barriers to independence for children and young people who are disabled or neurodivergent.
In response to this we offer bespoke employment skills training and organise work experience across North London. At a national level, we provide mobility equipment not available on the NHS for disabled children and young people up to the age of 25.
Overall Job Purpose
The Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic leadership and operational management for the charity, working closely with the Board of Trustees to deliver our mission and ensure AFK's sustainability and growth. You will lead a team of around 30 staff and volunteers, managing an annual budget of approximately £2 million.
As the visible leader of the organisation, you'll inspire and motivate the team through your presence and engagement. You'll be responsible for building strong team relationships, providing hands-on support when required, and will demonstrate the charity's values in everything you do. By leading from the front and showing the commitment and passion that drives AFK forward, you'll create a culture where everyone is motivated to deliver their best work.
Working Conditions
The post is 35 hours a week, normally 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. The post holder may be expected to work some evenings and weekends as required by the job.
28 days annual leave will be given in addition to public holidays.

Working Relationships
The CEO will maintain close working relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders. You'll work collaboratively with a Board of eight trustees to drive the charity's strategy forward, providing regular updates and ensuring effective governance.
You'll line manage members of the Senior Management Team, ensuring a cohesive and effective leadership group.
Building and nurturing relationships with key funders, partners, and supporters will be essential to the role. You'll act as an ambassador for the charity with AFK’s stakeholders, representing our mission and impact. Developing strong networks within the sector and maintaining meaningful connections with service users will be vital to ensuring the charity remains responsive and relevant to those it serves.
You'll also build visible and accessible connections with the wider staff team through regular communication and engagement across the organisation.
Importantly, this is a hands-on leadership role with a direct portfolio responsibility. In addition to your organisational leadership duties, you will lead and manage one of our core functional areas, whether that is Service Delivery, Fundraising, or Finance and Operations. You'll bring your specialist expertise and people management skills to this area, taking ownership of its performance and development.
This means the CEO role combines strategic leadership of the whole organisation with active, day-to-day accountability for a defined part of it.

We are recruiting two Policy Officers to support the development of evidence-led approaches to tackling racial inequality.
Working as part of our Policy and Practice team, you will contribute to research, policy development and influencing work. This includes producing evidence reviews, leading and contributing to report writing, working with partners across the voluntary and statutory sectors, and helping to co-produce solutions with people with lived experience.
You will also support our wider influencing activity, including using social media and other channels to promote change and engage key audiences.
This is an opportunity for someone with experience of research or policy work, and a strong understanding of racial inequality, to play a direct role in shaping work that informs practice and policy at a national level.

The Race Equality Foundation is a national charity working to tackle systemic racism and create the conditions for everyone to live healthy, secure and fulfilling lives and we are looking to appoint two Policy and Practice Officers.

Job Description
The overall purpose of this role is to contribute to the Foundation’s research, policy and influencing work by helping to develop evidence-informed and co-produced approaches to tackling racial inequality and advancing anti-racist systems change. The postholder will support projects that combine research, lived experience and practical action to influence policy, improve services and strengthen communities.
The postholder will be expected to exercise professional judgement and initiative within agreed organisational priorities. The work will involve:
Supporting the development of policy, practice and social action that advances race equality and addresses structural racism
Working collaboratively with people with lived experience, community organisations, researchers, policymakers and practitioners to co-produce projects, policy positions and approaches to change
Managing, supporting and delivering policy, research and practice-based projects, including planning activity, coordinating stakeholders, monitoring progress and ensuring high-quality outputs
Identifying, analysing and communicating evidence relating to racial inequality and translating this into policy briefings, reports, consultation responses and other influencing materials
Supporting the Foundation’s wider influencing, communications and engagement activity, including meetings, workshops, events and stakeholder engagement
Maintaining effective project administration and accurate electronic records
Demonstrating a commitment to anti-racist practice and the values of the Foundation

Skills, experience and knowledge required include:
Experience of contributing to or leading policy, research or practice-based projects, including taking responsibility for outputs, delivery and quality
Experience of working collaboratively with people with lived experience and community organisations to co-produce research, policy or influencing activity
Strong understanding of racial inequality, structural racism and anti-racist practice, and the ability to apply this understanding in policy and practice development
Experience of gathering and analysing evidence to support policy development
Understanding of how research, lived experience and community knowledge can be combined to inform systems change
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, accurate and accessible content for different audiences

Good digital skills and online research and communication tools

Pay and Conditions of Service
This post is available until end of March 2027, with the possibility of extension.
The salary is £34,216, inclusive of LW, per annum, plus contribution to workplace pension.

The Public Affairs Officer supports the Holocaust Educational Trust’s parliamentary, policy and civil society engagement work. Working closely with the Public Affairs Manager, the role helps to build understanding and commitment among policy‑makers to ensuring that the Holocaust remains a central part of the UK’s national consciousness.
The successful candidate will provide meaningful support to activity that influences decision and policy makers; develop strong relationships with stakeholders; and provide ongoing political support for Holocaust education and antisemitism education across the UK.
The Officer contributes essential research, coordination, written and logistical support to the Public Affairs Manager and brings established contacts from across the political landscape to strengthen the organisation’s work.
