We’re currently looking to welcome a new Communications and Campaigns Officer to join our team at the Society of Authors (SoA) which is the UK's largest trade union for all types of writers, illustrators and literary translators. We’ve been advising authors and speaking out for the profession since 1884. 

Role overview

To support and deliver the internal and external communications and campaigns with the goal of enhancing the SoA’s profile, engage stakeholders, and promote key initiatives. The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience in content creation, media and policy monitoring, digital marketing, and multimedia communications across a range of channels, including newsletters and social media. Objectives • Help to ensure consistent, high-quality communications and campaigns across all channels. • Provide support for brand visibility and audience engagement through digital marketing. • Provide support for delivering content via The Author magazine and outgoing mailers. • Support organisational campaigns, events, and key initiatives. • Monitor media coverage and policy developments, and evaluates website and communications performance. 

Key responsibilities

• Media monitoring and reporting: monitor media for relevant coverage and compile regular media reports and summaries, maintaining media contact lists and databases.

• The Author magazine and mailers: liaise with The Author magazine production team, contributors and internal departments, support with the production schedules and deadlines. Oversee the administration and invoicing for The Author advertising and subscribers. Support with distribution and performance tracking (e.g. open rates, click through rates). Provide support for development of membership mailouts including proofing. 

• Digital marketing and social media: contribute to the development of digital marketing campaigns across platforms – create and schedule engaging content, monitor engagement metrics and optimise content performance.

• Design and visual communication: produce basic graphics for digital and print (e.g. social posts, newsletters, flyers, banners). Support with the layout and visual design of newsletters and publications. Work with approved templates and design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe suite basics).

• Video and multimedia production: create and edit short-form video content for social media, newsletters, and website. Support with the filming of events, interviews, or promotional material for SoA events and campaigns. Add captions, branding, and basic effects to videos.

• Event promotion: support the Events and Engagement team with the communications and digital marketing plans for events, supporting with the creation of promotional materials (digital and print), proof events copy, ensure visibility of promotion on our website.

• Website: contribute to the content management of the SoA and Human Authored websites, updating content and posts as needed.

Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity is seeking a proactive and relationship-focused Community Fundraising Manager to play a key role within our Community and Events team. You will manage a diverse portfolio of fundraising campaigns and projects, develop meaningful supporter relationships, and create exceptional experiences that encourage long-term support, helping to grow income and maximise impact for children and young people.

About the role

In this key management role, you will work closely with the Head of Community and Events to deliver our community fundraising strategy and business plan, driving income growth while ensuring exceptional supporter experiences.

You will lead a team of Community Fundraising Officers, providing day-to-day management, coaching and support, while overseeing the delivery of a diverse portfolio of fundraising products, campaigns and projects. This includes established campaigns such as Christmas Jumper Day, PJ Day, In Memory and Schools fundraising, as well as developing innovative opportunities to inspire community support.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the charity, volunteers, supporters and partners, you will help strengthen relationships, increase engagement and maximise fundraising income to support Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity's mission.

The role will require occasional evening and weekend working required to support fundraising events and community activities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of community fundraising products, campaigns and projects that support sustainable income growth.
• Support the implementation of the charity's community fundraising strategy and contribute to future planning and development.
• Line manage the Community Fundraising Officers, providing leadership, performance management and professional development.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with supporters, community groups, schools and key stakeholders.
• Monitor and report on fundraising performance, budgets and KPIs, ensuring targets are achieved and opportunities identified.
• Ensure excellent supporter stewardship and donor care, creating positive experiences that encourage long-term engagement.

Role:   Senior Events and Community Fundraising Officer

Scope of the role

You will manage and successfully deliver key events including the London Marathon, Great North Run and London Landmarks Half Marathon, as well as third party and DIY challenge fundraising. You’ll lead on supporter recruitment and stewardship to meet or exceed agreed targets, while keeping budgets, income and performance on track, as well as maintaining accurate supporter data. You’ll also support on the delivery of Community and Virtual challenge fundraising, including our flagship challenge, Walk in Her Name. 

1)Support planning and delivery of the Events programme

i) Support recruitment, engagement and retention across our event portfolio including London Marathon, Great North Run, London Landmarks as well as third party and DIY challenges to meet or exceed agreed income and engagement targets, while keeping budgets, income and performance on track. 

ii) Responsible for the OCA London Marathon team from sign-up to post-race including delivery of training and fundraising support, on the day cheer point and post-race celebration activities.

iii) Attend events as required. 

iv) Support the team Manager to plan and deliver virtual challenges, including our flagship event, Walk in Her Name and Walk 100, working collaboratively across the team to maximise supporter experience and campaign performance. 

2) Manage delivery of Community Fundraising

i) Manage delivery of community fundraising and engagement

ii) Support the team manager to explore and identify new opportunities for growth.

3) Provide excellent supporter care across the events and community portfolio

i) Deliver excellent supporter care across Events and Community fundraising, ensuring every supporter receives timely, helpful and inspiring communications throughout their fundraising journey

ii) Monitor event performance and supporter feedback, sharing and deploying insight to improve stewardship journeys, recruitment activity and future planning 

iii) Work closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Communications, Finance and Database teams to deliver integrated, supporter-led activity.

4) Provide excellent administrative support

i) Manage and track event budgets, income and expenditure, ensuring accurate forecasting, reporting and post-campaign evaluation.

ii) Maintain accurate supporter and financial records across Raiser’s Edge and fundraising platforms, including data coding, income coding and administrative processes to support excellent supporter care

iii) Ensure all events and fundraising activity is delivered in line with Ovarian Cancer Action’s processes, fundraising best practice, GDPR requirements and relevant legislation.

• Familiar with using a CRM database - ideally Raiser’s Edge.

Additional details

Salary: Between £32,000 to £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the team

The Philanthropy Team raises income for Impetus and for Impetus partner charities. The team consists of 15 staff. Impetus has an annual income of c.£11 million which we are looking to grow significantly within the next few years. The team is led by two Directors of Philanthropy and Partnerships. 

The Philanthropy Team works with major donors, corporates and grant making trusts, as well as collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to ensure we make a compelling case to generate new financial commitments and wider support for our work. The team also deliver a high-quality engagement programme of volunteering and pro bono for Impetus’s corporate supporters.   

Impetus is driven by a shared belief in tackling the barriers that hold back young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in education and employment. Alongside investing extensive financial and non-financial support in our charity partners through our Investment Team we also seek to influence decision makers to design and implement evidence led policy and direct new resources to get young people the support they need through our Public Affairs team. We are resolutely focused on outcomes, driven by quality evidence.

About this role

The Engagement Manager is an experienced professional who plays a key role in supporting donor engagement across all Impetus donors, enabling the team to provide best practice and high-quality donor stewardship and a platform for the renewal of key philanthropic gifts.

The Engagement function is responsible for pro bono and volunteering. Reporting to the Head of Engagement, the Engagement Manager is responsible for supporting the successful delivery and continuous improvement of the volunteering programme, ensuring it delivers high-quality opportunities, contributes to agreed KPIs and evolves in line with the needs of funders and the organisation. 

The postholder will account manage key relationships with mid-level supporters and internal stakeholders, working across teams to deliver meaningful and well-coordinated engagement opportunities. They will contribute to identifying and developing new opportunities for the volunteering and pro bono programmes that respond to funder interests and portfolio needs. 

In addition, they will manage relationships with mid-level pro bono supporters, taking them through the full pro bono journey from project matching and onboarding through to stewardship and ongoing support.

This is a cross-functional role that collaborates closely with the Investment team, wider Philanthropy team, Public Affairs team and other stakeholders to ensure a consistent and excellent donor experience.

Key responsibilities

Volunteering programme  

• Account manage relationships linked to volunteering across corporates, individuals and grant-making trusts, ensuring engagement is maintained and escalating strategic issues or risks where appropriate.
• Support or lead meetings, alongside fundraising account managers where appropriate, with funders to understand their volunteering interests and contribute to the development of suitable engagement opportunities.
• Support account managers in ensuring consistent donor engagement throughout annual giving cycles, including tracking, reporting, and communications.
• Contribute to the development of the volunteering function to ensure the programme offers a range of high-quality opportunities suitable for different funder types and aligned to organisational priorities.
• Identify and suggest new volunteering opportunities based on charity needs and funder interests, working with the Head of Engagement to ensure strategic alignment across the programme.
• Lead delivery of the mentoring programme within agreed plans and frameworks.
• Where necessary, support delivery of the volunteering programme (i.e workshops), ensuring it delivers high-quality engagement activities, contributes to agreed KPIs and continues to develop in response to organisational and funder needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and detail-oriented Events and Engagement Coordinator to provide excellent operational support to the Engagement Directorate to enable Mission 44 to build meaningful funder relationships and deliver impactful experiences. 

The role sits at the intersection of the donor experience, events and supporting the functionality of the wider, newly established Engagement Directorate. It will have two priorities: to provide administrative and operational support across the team, including to the Chief Engagement Officer, and support the Events and Engagement team to execute first-class events.

We are seeking an organised, proactive, and people-focused Business Support and Grant Manager to join our growing charity. This new full time role has been created to support increasing demand and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to projects that deliver lasting community impact. The Talent Set are delighted to partner with our client on a fantastic Challenge Events Officer role. The successful candidate will oversee and deliver a dynamic portfolio of challenge events, ensuring exceptional participant experiences while supporting income generation and long-term supporter engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver a range of UK and international challenge events in line with organisational objectives.
• Manage logistics, timelines, suppliers, and participant communication to ensure smooth event execution.
• Collaborate with external partners and providers to enhance event delivery and safety standards.
• Support risk management, health and safety, and compliance processes across all challenge activities.
• Engage and motivate participants through targeted communication and resource provision to maximise fundraising outcomes.
• Recruit participants via community outreach, digital channels, and fundraising initiatives.
• Work closely with fundraising teams to identify potential participants and support their engagement and retention.
• Contribute to marketing efforts, including promotional content and digital campaigns, to drive event participation.
• Maintain accurate records of participant data, fundraising achievements, and engagement in the CRM system.
