As Philanthropy Officer, you will be an organised and proactive fundraiser, adept at multi-tasking and working across a variety of projects to successfully support senior leaders. You will be keen to learn from senior fundraisers and implement exciting new approaches for the Sutton Trust, and bring strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

The philanthropy income team is a team of two, working closely with the Director of Development to secure and steward individual donors. As Philanthropy Officer, you will support both the Head of Philanthropy and Director of Development in their work with individual donors, including undertaking prospect research, writing briefings and compelling reports, coordinating meetings and donor visits, and maintaining accurate donor records.

The role sits in the Philanthropy team of the Development Department and is managed by the Head of Philanthropy. You will work closely with colleagues across both the Development Department and the wider organisation.

Main duties

New Business

• Undertake prospect research across the spectrum of philanthropic income in collaboration with the Head of Philanthropy - including identification, due diligence, qualification, and creating briefings and outreach plans
• Work with the Head of Philanthropy to identify and cultivate a prospect pool of potential donors, looking at lapsed supporters, current low-level donors, stakeholder network mapping through the Board and Trustees, as well as philanthropists with an active interest in education/social mobility
• Work with the Head of Philanthropy and other colleagues to implement, promote, and maintain a low-level online giving campaign, including transition of our online giving capabilities to the Trust's website, and automated stewardship activation
• Support the Head of Philanthropy to lead the Sutton Trust's approach to alumni fundraising - working collaboratively with the Alumni team in the Programmes directorate to develop and deliver a compelling alumni fundraising campaign
• Support the Head of Philanthropy to devise and implement a compelling legacy campaign, driving sustainable future philanthropic income
• Work with colleagues across the Development team to identify, qualify, cultivate and secure prospects, using resources effectively where there are links between corporates, individuals, and trusts & foundations

Stewardship and Cultivation

• Manage the Trust's online fundraising platforms, such as JustGiving and CAF, to enable smooth processes and a high-quality experience for donors, ensuring new and existing donors are appropriately thanked and have inclination to support in the future
• Be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of mid-level donors, providing excellent relationship management from cultivation to stewardship
• Be responsible for elements of the planning and delivery of meaningful engagement events for supporters of the Trust, supported by and working with the Head of Philanthropy and relevant colleagues
• Support the Director of Development and Head of Philanthropy to provide high-quality stewardship and management of the Development Board and Fellows
• Support the Head of Philanthropy to develop and deliver appropriate and high-quality stewardship journeys for segmented philanthropic giving, including producing compelling collateral, reporting, and communications that increase affinity and loyalty
• Be accountable for achieving individual agreed income targets, looking for opportunities to grow philanthropic income
• Support the Director of Development and Head of Philanthropy to ensure all record keeping and administration relating to philanthropic income is maintained, up-to-date, and processed in accordance with GDPR and Sutton Trust policies and procedures

Fundraising, Finance and Reporting

• Respond to queries from prospective and current donors in a warm, professional and timely manner, delivering high-quality stewardship and upholding the reputation of the Trust
• Support the Director of Development and Heads in the Development team to manage logistics of their roles - including support for booking meetings and travel, submitting expenses, and creating briefings
• Act as an ambassador for the Trust with external audiences, delivering presentations and providing expertise as required
• Work with colleagues to deliver impactful events to cultivate prospects and steward partners, with a focus on experience for individual supporters and prospects
• Work with colleagues across Development and Finance to ensure accurate forecasting, income tracking, and reporting for philanthropic income
• Ensure you appropriately follow policies and procedures on due diligence, Salesforce and data management, account management, stewardship, and reporting
• Stay up to date with philanthropy fundraising best practice and keep abreast of developments and opportunities within the wider fundraising space

Person Specification

Skills and experience:

• Experience building and managing relationships with individuals, ideally in a philanthropy team or other fundraising capacity, or in sales or other relevant professional capacity.
• Experience researching and prioritising information to drive decisions. Evidence of researching qualifying individuals, ideally to create a clear and prioritised propsect pipeline, is not essential but will help you to stand out.
• Experience working with or supporting colleagues across an organisation to make successful asks or secure a specific outcome. Evidence of making financial asks, ideally to secure major donors and cultivate new donors, is not essential, but will help you to stand out.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and tasks to successfully achieve project or other goals
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to write persuasive and engaging materials, and to communicate effectively with the aim of inspiring and encouraging giving
• First-class interpersonal skills - a natural relationship builder able to represent the Sutton Trust with confidence in a range of settings
• Strong analytical skills
• Knowledge and experience of the education and/or not-for-profit sector (desirable)
• Experience working with membership groups such as alumni, giving circles, implementing online-giving schemes and supporting legacy campaigns (desirable)
• Knowledge of the UK fundraising environment, including trends in philanthropy and the different giving mechanisms utilised by individual donors (desirable)
• Experienced at using Salesforce or other fundraising CRM software to accurately record funding relationships (desirable)

Terms of Appointment

• Office location: The Sutton Trust, 9th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP. Our home working policy gives staff the option to work from home for up to 60% of the time, with approval from their line manager.
• Hours: The standard working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. This role is likely to also be required to attend events / meetings outside of normal working hours during weekday evenings and occasionally at weekends, in line with organisational policies.

You must be comfortable and confident in working to a brief to producing creative communications across digital and print media.

You will be proactive in sourcing powerful impact stories and case studies from across the University and translate these into high quality content that ensures donors feel their support is valued and effective, inspires repeat giving and maximises donor retention.

You will be highly organised and proactive, with excellent interpersonal, teamwork and relationship building skills, with an ability to influence and connect with stakeholders at all levels.

We are seeking an experienced, high-performing Challenge Events Lead to drive forward a flagship portfolio of challenge  fundraising events with strategic control, operational excellence and a deep sense of ownership.

This is a senior delivery role, accountable for all aspects of planning, executing and evaluating complex fundraising events across Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation, Evelina London Children’s Charity, and Guy’s Cancer Charity. This position requires someone who can operate independently, manage high-value partnerships, oversee delivery risks, and influence cross-functional teams with credibility.

Overall Purpose of the role

The Challenge Events lead plays a critical role within the fundraising team, combining strategic oversight with a hands-on commitment to delivery excellence. At a time of organisational transformation and ambitious long-term growth, this role is central to building the operational foundations and supporter experiences that will enable our 10-year vision to succeed.  

This role will provide clear direction and structure to the planning and execution of our event portfolio, while remaining close to the operational detail — streamlining processes, refining supporter journeys, and driving performance through data, insight and continuous improvement.  

This role is responsible for setting high standards across everything from partnership engagement to on-the-day execution. It requires someone who is comfortable working autonomously, leading high-value relationships with professionalism and precision, and bringing creative thinking to how we engage and retain our event supporters. 

The Challenge Events Lead will also guide and support the Events Fundraising Co-ordinator, working in close partnership to deliver exceptional stewardship across the supporter lifecycle and elevate every touchpoint — from first sign-up to post-event celebration. 

This is a key opportunity for an experienced event professional to shape the future of events at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Foundation and play a leading role in how we build supporter loyalty, scale income, and strengthen our presence in third-party partnerships.  

Key Responsibilities

• Independently lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a portfolio of flagship challenge events — including the London Marathon, London Landmarks Half, Brighton Marathon, Ultra Challenges and other third-party partnerships — ensuring a high standard of execution and supporter experience.
• Drive and manage Charity of the Year pipelines and partnerships, contributing to long-term income growth and brand visibility through strategic relationship-building and high-profile placement.
• Act as the strategic lead and primary relationship manager for key external partners (e.g. London Marathon Events, delivery agencies), safeguarding supporter experience, brand integrity and value across all touchpoints.
• Oversee console and registration systems, ensuring a smooth and seamless experience for participants from sign-up through to post-event engagement, while proactively identifying areas for optimisation.
• Develop and manage detailed event budgets, including forecasting, tracking, reconciliation, and net income reporting — with a clear place allocation strategy that aligns with ROI, supporter demand, and market trends.
• Lead on portfolio-level financial accountability, using budget performance, participation data and market insight to inform decisions around where to invest, expand, or strategically scale back — ensuring resources are directed where they’ll deliver the strongest return and long-term value.
• Lead on supporter acquisition strategy across owned and paid channels — including ballot management, grassroots marketing, and behavioural communications — to ensure high-quality leads, strong retention and long-term supporter engagement.
• Provide operational oversight, guidance and mentorship to the Events Fundraising Co-ordinator, ensuring clarity of roles, consistency of delivery, and strong compliance across all areas of shared responsibility.
• Collaborate on planning and execution of end-to-end stewardship journeys — from registration to celebration — ensuring data-led, insight-driven improvements and meaningful supporter experiences at every stage.

Work environment

• The post holder should expect to:
• Work in a hybrid hot desk environment, generally working 2 days a week in the London office and three from home. 
• Be responsible for the input and maintenance of databases and files relevant to the post requirements.
• Will occasionally be required to attend events in the evening and at weekends.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

This role requires significant, hands-on operational experience. Applicants will need to demonstrate clear evidence of independently managing event budgets, leading on strategy and logistics, and owning high-level external partnerships.
 

Essential Experience

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience independently delivering large-scale fundraising events, with full responsibility for logistics, budgeting, and strategic outcomes.
• Strong track record in supplier management, live event delivery, and compliance — including health & safety, risk assessments, and insurance.
• Proven success managing high-value relationships with third-party organisers (e.g. London Marathon Events), including negotiating terms and ensuring delivery excellence.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage ambitious budgets, including forecasting, reforecasting, reporting and cost-efficiency tracking.
• Deep knowledge of event marketing and acquisition strategies — including ballot processes, audience segmentation, targeting, and grassroots recruitment.
• Experience designing and delivering multi-channel stewardship journeys, with a clear understanding of behavioural communications across email, SMS, WhatsApp, phone and face-to-face touchpoints — and how these influence retention, satisfaction and performance.

Our charity-sector client is seeking a Temporary Individual Giving Officer to join their Fundraising, Engagement & Communications team for approximately 2 months.

This is a great opportunity for someone with individual giving experience to step in and provide vital support across appeals, stewardship, and donor communications. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality supporter care while helping to ensure campaigns run smoothly.

Reporting to the Director of Development and working with the Major Gifts, Individual Giving and Corporate Partnerships teams, you will be responsible for supporting solicitation campaigns of principal gifts and ensuring delivery of first-class stewardship of donors. The Senior Manager will also evaluate project strategy, approach and outcomes and facilitate relationships with senior colleagues and key volunteers to access new prospect networks.

The selected candidate will have a personal track record in fundraising and ideally working with senior colleagues to secure significant gifts of £500,000 or more. You will have demonstrable success in stewardship and a successful track record of developing and maintaining a network of contacts. Ideally, the best person for this job will have proven experience of managing complex and nuanced donor relationships which require a bespoke approach and a high level of judgment.

​The Role

​Corporate partnerships provide a vital source of income at Greenhouse Sports. The priority for the Corporate Partnerships Team is to further grow income, with an ambitious target of £1.1 million in 2025/26 - a 30% increase on the previous year.

​The Corporate Development Manager will play a critical role in realising this new income, whilst diversifying the pipeline and strengthening existing relationships through superior cultivation and stewardship.

The Person

​The Corporate Development Manager will play a vital role in the continued growth and development of corporate income, with the majority of their time dedicated to sourcing new business.

​The key responsibilities of the role include:​

• Identifying and qualifying new partnership leads that demonstrate clear value alignment with Greenhouse Sports, building a substantial pipeline that you will own and drive forward.
• Planning, developing and delivering cultivation journeys for strong leads to secure five- and six- figure corporate partnerships.
• Leading on meetings with new business prospects.
• Designing and creating partnership proposals, presentations and/ or pitches for potential new partners.
• Leading on the renewal of existing five- and six- figure partnerships, developing clear stewardship plans that strengthen relationships and maximise opportunities for growth.
• Working collaboratively with internal teams across the organisation.
• Excelling at use of our CRM (Beacon) and ensuring it’s kept up-to-date.

The Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager is an exciting new role, joining our small and expanding fundraising team.

This new role supports the delivery of our ambitious plans to develop and grow income from corporate partners including pharmaceuticals and major donors.  You will proactively lead on identifying, developing and delivering high and mid value partnerships. You will play a central role in growing income across the Hospice and driving forward new, relationship-based approaches to fundraising.

 You will develop a new approach for managing and fundraising from small trusts and have the opportunity to learn and grow through working with the AD for Development on larger opportunities.

The must haves.....

• Fundraising Success: At least three years’ experience operating in a Trusts and Foundations role (or relevant transferable skills) and a track record of personally securing and stewarding five figure gifts

• Portfolio management: Knowledgeable in developing and managing a portfolio, and key prospect management tools and systems

We are seeking a dedicated Philanthropy Officer who will help sustain and grow the organisation’s income. This involves managing timelines for applications and reports, writing high-quality proposals and impact reports (often in collaboration with colleagues in policy, science, communications, and finance), and researching new funding opportunities. 

The role also includes maintaining strong relationships with existing funders by providing timely updates outside of formal reporting, and leading on the drafting of the organisation’s annual report to clearly communicate achievements and impact.

CHEM Trust’s overarching aim is to prevent synthetic chemicals from causing long-term damage to wildlife and people by ensuring that chemicals which cause such harm are substituted with safer alternatives.

Currently, we are primarily funded by trusts and foundations and are very successful, raising significant funds to facilitate the sustained growth of the organisation and our reserves.  We have an ethical funding policy, and it is imperative that we maintain our independence and science-based approach.

Key Duties

• Fundraising activity – preparing compelling and bespoke proposals tailored to donor requirements, ensuring effective stewardship of charitable trust and foundation major gifts within CHEM Trust’s portfolio by building relationships and providing on-time reports and updates.
• Working cross-organisationally, to ensure relevant information is obtained from CHEM Trust’ team members in a timely fashion to report to funders in advance of deadlines.
• Timeline management – keeping an accurate track of the necessary reporting and application deadlines and ensuring these are communicated in good time to relevant team members.
• Developing relationships and networking – including excellent donor stewardship to existing funders and using events, meetings, talks and inspirational writing to help charitable trusts learn about CHEM Trust’s work and understand the difference we are making.
• Recording and maintaining accurate funding data, ensuring records are kept and effectively managed and that CHEM Trust’s fundraising team operates within GDPR.
• Good team working - daily interaction with the fundraising team, wider CHEM Trust team, funding partners and others, plus possible interaction with trustees.
• Leading on the writing of the annual report, tailoring it to be a key document that prospective funders can use to get a succinct overview of CHEM Trust’s vision, goals, and achievements.
