We are looking for an experienced Head of People to deliver both strategic leadership and operational excellence across all people functions.
Leading a team of 11, you will provide strategic business partnering and support across the organisation, ensuring the quality of experience and wellbeing of everyone that works at Parkinson’s UK, driving forward a culture of listening, and supporting our people to embrace and deliver change.
What you’ll do:

Lead, coach, mentor and develop the People team and People Partners to deliver the operational and strategic people requirements across the entire people portfolio

Work in partnership and provide coaching, direction and support to Executive members (including the CEO) and leaders to enable them to deliver their teams plans and strategies

Provide professional people advice, guidance and support with an up to date employment law input on a wide range of strategic and operational people issues. This will include leading on complex areas of change and providing guidance on employee relations cases

Manage the people and establishment budgets and plans, setting the annual process ensuring effective financial control through the monitoring and review of the monthly management accounts.

Work in partnership with the Associate Director of People & Culture in delivering the strategic agenda, People & Culture Strategy.

As Chief Executive, you will lead the staff team, be responsible for providing overall strategic direction, coordination and management of all CAP programmes. Partnership building is a key role to maximise our impact.
Church Action on Poverty is a medium sized social justice charity, with a vision for the UK to become a country where everyone can flourish free from poverty. We are an ecumenical organisation with a Christian ethos and roots in the churches who remain key partners for us. We support programmes across the UK improving the lives of people in poverty and create opportunities for those with lived experience to voice their concerns with the aim of educating the public to raise awareness and understanding in line with our charitable objectives.
Currently, our programmes are structured on the principles of dignity, agency and power. They comprise: supporting a network of 130 food pantries with a membership of over 50,000; enabling people with lived experience of poverty to speak truth to power and supporting churches to explore what it means to be a ‘church on the margins’ as well as playing a leading role in high profile national campaigns.
It is anticipated that the role will be varied and flexible, but will include:

Assisting the CAP Council of Management in the development and implementation of the organisation's programmes, campaigns, partnership building and public affairs work.

Managing CAP's staff and resources in line with the organisation's agreed policies and priorities, and core values of collaboration, participation and empowerment.

Fundraising and organisational strategy to achieve our aims.

Ensuring that people with lived experience of poverty are actively involved in all aspects of CAP's work.

Leading and line managing the Senior Leadership and Management Team.

Working with the whole staff team to develop and implement strategies that build dignity, agency and power to end poverty.
Key responsibilities
1. Supporting CAP's Council of Management in its governance function

Maintaining regular contact with the CAP Chairperson and Officer Group.

Providing regular written reports to CAP's Council of Management and attending all meetings of the CAP Council of Management and Officers Group.

Agreeing and implementing an annual planning cycle with the Council of Management, in line with CAP’s strategic values and vision.

Working with the chair and officers to ensure good governance of the organisation.
2. Ensuring the effective management of CAP's staff team by:

Providing day-to-day management and support for the Senior Management and Leadership Team.

Holding oversight of the policies and procedures of the organisation and ensuring that they are up to date and fit for purpose

Setting the culture of the organisation, with a focus on promoting collaborative working, learning and staff wellbeing.
3. Finance and fundraising

Setting a clear, viable organisational and financial strategy and implement through

Fundraising and relationship building to secure the resources needed for the programme work and campaigning.

Providing resources for donors and churches to organise fundraising.
4. Programme Development
Leading the process of programme development within CAP in order to:

Promote new approaches to combating poverty, which build the dignity, agency and power of people and communities struggling against poverty.

Ensure that programmes have clearly identified aims, objectives and methods and that projects are monitored and evaluated.
5. Partnership Building
Building partnerships and contribute to the shared leadership and development of a movement based on dignity, agency and power with people and struggling communities against poverty, by

Working with a wide range of partners and people with lived experience, to connect and build networks of people and groups who are committed to challenging poverty.

Ensuring that CAP works collaboratively, leading CAP's involvement in strategic coalitions, alliances and other movement building opportunities.

Ensuring CAP’s work is informed by the insights of people with lived experience of poverty, as well as wider public policy, debate and research.

Ensuring that CAP’s views are shared with government, politicians, churches and others, where possible, led by people with lived experience of poverty.
6. Membership and supporters
Working with CAP’s Communications and Supporter Relations manager to ensure the recruitment and retention of members, donors and supporters by ensuring that:

CAP members are provided with regular mailings and appropriate support for local/national activity.

Ensuring that requests from CAP members and others for information and support are dealt with appropriately.

Overseeing resources for Challenge Poverty Week and Poverty Sunday
7. Public Profile
In collaboration with CAP's Council of Management and staff, ensuring that CAP maintains a high profile within both the church and secular media, including:

Ensuring CAP contributes effectively to public and media debate, including mainstream secular and church media, TV, radio and new/social media etc.

Prioritising opportunities for people with lived experience to act as spokespeople and the public face for CAP.

Attending and speaking at appropriate conferences and events making sure that CAP is represented at key events.

Representing CAP views to national, regional and local government.
8. Theological Development
Facilitating the development of theological and other resources which reflect

the lived experience of people and communities struggling against poverty, biblical sources, personal faith and other theological writing.

Accountability and relationships
The Chief Executive is accountable to the elected Council of Management. Regular contact is maintained with the Officers Group, and in particular the Chair.
The Chief Executive provides line management to the other members of the Senior Leadership and Management Team, and works closely with other members of the CAP staff team, and external partners.
Other details about employment
Duration: Permanent contract with six month probationary period.
Hours: 35 hours per week including occasional 'unsocial' hours, weekend working and overnight travelling for which Time Off in Lieu is provided.
Salary: Church Action on Poverty Salary Band L, starting at scale point 43 on the NJC scales (currently £52,805 pay award pending). Rising by increments after 3 years and every 2 years thereafter to point 46 (currently £56,073), paid monthly on the 14th day of each month.
Pension: Church Action on Poverty operates the Nest auto-enrolment pension scheme, and contributes a 10% employer contribution provided the staff member commits to making a 5% employee contribution.

About Global Health Partnerships
One billion people will never see a qualified health worker in their lives. For over thirty years, GHP has been working to change this, training health workers to build a world where everyone has access to affordable and quality healthcare. We do this by leveraging the expertise and energy of the UK health community, supporting health partnerships between hospitals, colleges and clinics in the UK and those overseas.
From reducing maternal deaths in Uganda to improving the quality of hospital care for injured children in Myanmar, we work to strengthen local health systems and build a healthier future for all. In the past seven years alone, GHP has reached over 84,000 health workers across 31 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia in partnership with over 130 UK institutions and UK health workers who have contributed over 60,000 days of their time as volunteers. The programme has contributed to more effective and efficient health systems in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs).1 It also benefits the UK health sector through improved health professional competencies, motivation, health service innovations and global influence.2 GHP’s work is rooted in the Health Partnership Model. Health partnerships are long-term, institutional relationships between health organisations in the UK and their counterparts in LMICs, and are based on ideas of co-development, reciprocal learning and mutual benefit. Staff from UK health institutions volunteer their time developing and carrying out health systems strengthening activities at their LMIC partner institution, be that training, curriculum development, leadership and governance, etc.
UFUQ project overview:
The project is strategically designed to uplift the health conditions of the Syrian population. It addresses critical elements of health workforce management and medical education in Syria, aiming for a transformative impact on health outcomes in the region.
Specialized Medical Education Enhancement:
UFUQ aims to enable targeted specialties in Syria to play a pivotal role in advancing medical education and practice. This encompasses a comprehensive review, update, and rollout of curricula, teaching, and assessment materials in emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and anaesthesiology. The project focuses on strengthening capacities in medical education, clinical/CPD areas, English language proficiency, research skills, and fostering scientific collaboration and partnership among and between faculties, residents, and international peers.
Rooted in the UFUQ philosophy, this intervention believes that by strengthening the systems and capacities for specialized medical education, the quality and accessibility of specialist health services will be markedly improved. The UFUQ project envisions a transformative approach contributing to the broader goal of achieving universal health coverage and delivering better-quality care in Syria.
Objective of the Position
The Technical Manager Medical Education will provide technical expertise to ensure the project and partners are all working to a shared vision for Post Graduate Medical education and that all are delivering within appropriate technical requirements and standards. The position will coordinate with stakeholders, supervise technical staff, and ensure the program aligns with the project log frame and best practices in health workforce development and medical education.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure technical alignment of the UFUQ project with HRH strategies and medical education reforms in Syria.
-
Provide overarching technical leadership and guidance to ensure that all project’s Medical Education strengthening activities are aligned with international best practices in postgraduate medical education and health workforce development.

Ensure technical coherence and alignment of project interventions with the log frame, theory of change, and objectives approved by the donor and Syrian partners.
-
Oversee the quality assurance of technical deliverables, including research, training curricula, and policy frameworks developed under the UFUQ project, and ensure their relevance, scientific validity, and GESI sensitivity.

Promote capacity-building efforts, and quality assure ToT programs for HRH actors at national and sub-national levels.
-
Lead the technical coordination and engagement with key stakeholders, including MoH, Syrian Board, academic institutions, professional associations, and international partners (e.g., RCOG, RCEM)., to strengthen technical collaborations within the UFUQ project and to ensure integration and complementarity across all project activities.

Support the localisation of the Postgraduate Medical Education Diploma and other training efforts, guiding National partners (Center of Strategic Studies and Health training” and Syrian Board) teams in the adoption of the tools, standards, and accreditation systems.

Contribute to sustainability planning by supporting the development of Terms of Reference and standard operating procedures for the Specialties Technical Committees.

Represent the program in technical meetings with donors, MoH, and other HRH actors.
-
Ensure that GESI is integrated across all tracks by supervising the GESI specialist, reviewing curricula and training plans, and leading the technical team in implementing inclusive strategies.

Promote mechanisms for feedback from women healthcare workers and residents, and ensure their needs are addressed in planning and implementation.

Support In-Country efforts for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) to align with UFUQ project indicators and outcomes.

Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, or inconsistencies in project delivery and propose corrective actions in coordination with the Program Lead and donor if required.

Provide rapid-response technical input when issues arise in curriculum roll-out, clinical mentoring, or institutional engagement.

Lead the design and planning of new or amended technical activities.
Qualifications & Experience

Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in Medical Education preferably with experience in developing postgraduate medical education programmes.

Experience working in a senior position in NGO context (Syrian context is preferred).

Previous experience in stakeholder coordination, policy analysis, and capacity building.

Strong understanding of GESI-sensitive approaches in health workforce planning and governance.

Excellent representational, written, and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.

Organisational and administrative skills with sound IT skills (Word and Excel).

Flexibility and adaptability to work independently in a small organisation and in a complex environment.

About the charity

As the new Challenge Events Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing The Passage's Challenge Events Fundraising strategy, designed to inspire and engage both existing and new supporters, ultimately building a stable and sustainable income pipeline.
Over the past year, we have seen significant growth in the number of people wanting to sign up to challenge events and raise money for The Passage and we have ambitious plans as part of our new three-year strategy. This is a new role and an exciting opportunity that will take the lead on our third party and bespoke challenge events. You’ll manage annual events, test new event concepts and support our growing network of event participants. This is a varied role with lots of potential for growth and development. You’ll lead on policy, advocacy, external affairs and events—crafting compelling narratives, building powerful partnerships, and delivering programmes that drive commercial sustainability and sector-wide change.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead external affairs, collaborating with stakeholders to shape policy, advocacy and best practice that removes barriers and expands EO.
- Establish relationships and secure commercial partnerships and sponsorships, generating revenue to support advocacy, events, and sector growth initiatives.

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing a team of geographically dispersed Operations Officers to support the operational delivery and development of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) across Scotland.
Operations Officers directly support a variety of Licensed Organisations (LOs) comprising mainly of schools, but they also work with other organisations including colleges, local authorities, charities, pupil referral units, youth groups and young offender institutions. The Operations Manager role involves managing, coaching, and supporting Operations Officers to undertake their role and building strong partnerships to increase DofE’s engagement across communities in Scotland.
As a DofE country team, our focus is on building capacity within our licensed organisations to support more young people to engage with DofE and on identifying and stewarding strong partnerships within local communities to increase engagement with DofE, particularly within those communities who face barriers to participation. Line managed by the Senior Operations Manager, the Operations Manager is an active and engaged member of the Scotland Leadership Team, which is chaired by the Scotland Director. The Scotland Leadership team is responsible for developing and delivering the Scotland business plan and strategy in line with UK wide and national strategic goals.
The role will be field-based and when not attending meetings, employees will work from home. You will need to have an appropriate home office set up and live within Scotland.
What we are looking for:
We are looking to recruit a dynamic, proactive, and effective team player with extensive people management experience to join the Scotland team. You will report to the Senior Operations Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your Operations team and delivery of the DofE Scotland business plan. ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager is responsible for leading and developing RABI’s philanthropy and partnerships donor base, focusing on building and nurturing relationships with major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate partners as well as legacy and in-memory supporters (larger funders).
This plays a pivotal role in shaping RABI’s fundraising strategy, identifying major funding opportunities and creating impactful engagement strategies to secure long-term financial support for the charity’s sustainability.
Relationship building is key to this position, communicating effectively with our donors by enhancing and strengthening relations through cultivation tactics and deepening relationships to ensure robust support from these influential stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) fundraising strategy to drive RABI’s fundraising activities and support long-term sustainability. This includes overseeing the cultivation and stewardship of major donors, trusts and foundations, corporate partners as well as legacy and in-memory supporters (larger funders).
• Report on income and expenditure targets, ensuring targets are met and assisting with budget setting.
• Cultivate, solicit and steward relationships with larger funders, ensuring strong and sustained engagement.
• Develop tailored proposals and partnership packages aligned with potential partners’ priorities and interests.
• Manage, identify and build relationships with key corporate funders, negotiate and manage agreements, ensuring clear communication of expected deliverables.
• Oversee and manage all trust and foundation opportunities, identifying potential funders whilst monitoring and reporting on deliverables and outcomes ensuring timely delivery of all requirements, ensuring compliance with regulations.

• Ensure all fundraising activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including GDPR the CIOF Code of Fundraising Practice and RABI’s internal policies. Make certain the charity’s best practices are upheld in all donor interactions and fundraising activities.
• Responsibility for line management, providing guidance, support and performance feedback to ensure the development and success of team members.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including fundraising, communications, service delivery, business development and external affairs to identify project funding opportunities, share donor insights and collaborate and support the development of other fundraising initiatives.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential
• Demonstrable experience in a senior fundraising role, with a proven track record in securing major funds from larger funders.
• Exceptional major donor management skills, with experience in donor stewardship, partnership development and engagement strategies that build long-term relationships.
• Extensive knowledge and understanding of targeting, segmentation and response analysis.
• Persuasive written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling applications, proposals and donor communications. Capable of tailoring messaging for different audiences and ensuring clarity, consistency and emotional impact.
• Experience of managing a fundraising team and assisting with recruitment and team development.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and manage relationships at all levels, both internally and externally.
