Founded in 1897, LSE Students' Union is one of the oldest Students' Unions in the UK and is the representative and campaigning body for students at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Like other Students' Unions, it also funds and facilitates student activities on campus, including societies, sports clubs through the Athletics Union (AU), the Media Group and Raising and Giving (RAG) charitable fundraising initiatives.
About the Role
We are currently recruiting a Head of Student Voice to join our senior leadership team at one of London’s most engaged Students’ Unions. The role has 5 primary functions including (but not limited to):
1. To lead the Advice and Representation teams to enable effective student voice and advocacy across the whole of LSE
2. To provide strategic leadership by driving quality Student Voice, increasing impact, & maximising deployment of resources to improve the experience for students at LSE
3. To support and empower the elected Officers to represent LSE students to make effective positive change
4. Responsible for the department’s operational planning, and involvement in delivering the Union’s strategic aims

Key Responsibilities
Leading service delivery
- Lead the Union’s provision of representation, democracy, welfare, advice, and advocacy
- Overall responsibility for the legal compliance issues relating to Advice and Representation teams
- Lead the continual development and maintenance of processes through which the student view on quality of their educational and community experiences are collated
- To enhance the democratic operation of the Union through coherent governance and a robust elections process including acting as the Deputy Returning Officer for LSESU Elections
- Develop and lead on the strategic aims and enablers to deliver the greatest impact for members
- Identify and secure resources needed to deliver the teams’ strategic aims and enablers
- Ensure the maximum impact and value is delivered by the teams
- Lead the Advice and Representation teams in identifying and communicating key issues for students throughout the Union
- Lead the department’s operational planning, and involvement in delivering the Union’s strategic aims by developing and continuously improving service delivery
Quality, impact & resources
- Ensure performance management of the teams’ strategic aims and enablers

The Institute of Physics (IOP) is seeking an Education Manager for Ireland and Northern Ireland to lead the design and delivery of a high-profile programme of education projects and activities that will underpin key parts of the IOP's five-year strategy.
Working with colleagues from across the organisation and IOP members, the Education Manager will spearhead the IOP's efforts to increase the visibility and impact of the IOP's work in education. The role will also serve to build and maintain high level relationships and contacts across the education sector for the IOP in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Key to this will be successfully building strategic partnerships with stakeholders from across and beyond the physics community. The successful candidate will also represent the Institute on matters to do with physics education (primary, secondary, further and higher) in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The role
This is a new role, reporting to the Head of Ireland and Northern Ireland and working closely with the wider IOP Education Team including the Head of Education, and Education Managers in Scotland and Wales.
The post holder will lead, develop and manage complex and impactful education projects and activities at a national level; creating and supporting high level external engagement through an established network of sectoral contacts.
They will need to build and maintain high level relationships to secure influence for the IOP’s education work in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Excellent communication skills are vital as the incumbent will advise senior management, the Head of IOP Ireland and education colleagues in IOP on education matters. They will also require significant experience of writing reports and consultation responses, as well as ensuring key messages are delivered clearly with impact to relevant audiences internally and externally. Knowledge of the education system in Ireland and Northern Ireland, as well as an understanding of science, education, funding and policy structures is therefore a must.
Location
Flexible however candidates must have a willingness to travel to IOP’s EU headquarters in Dublin City Centre where core team functions are based and key stakeholder meetings/events will be hosted. Additional travel will be required around Ireland and Northern Ireland, and sometimes to IOP offices in London. Remote working is in operation during Covid-19 and it is expected that a flexible, blended model of remote and office-based working will be implemented in the future.

We are seeking candidates who are dependable, strategic thinkers with proven experience in the sector and excellent attention to detail. They must be dedicated to meeting the expectations and needs of members, colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.
This is an influential role, requiring the experience and confidence to work with a high degree of autonomy, but also the ability to work with colleagues across the organisation. As this is a key role within a new team, the ability to manage the ambiguity that comes from a changing environment is essential, as is the ability to work methodically and establish processes and procedures where needed.
