HR Adviser – Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Advisory
- Provide advice to line managers on employee relations (ER) issues e.g. policies, performance management, end-to-end absence management including return to work meetings, reporting and occupational health referrals etc. Able to resolve complex employee relation issues and conduct investigations where necessary.
- Provide advice to managers across all policy and practice areas, for example on family friendly policies such as maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, carers leave, etc.
- Support the maintenance of existing policy documentation and make changes where applicable
- Proactively take responsibility for the adherence and implementation of HR policies
- Support line managers in the management of employees in probation, and where necessary extension cases
- Support line managers in performance management practices, objective setting and performance improvement plans (PIPs)
HR Analytics
- Report on HR analytics monthly and quarterly for the HR Manager, for example on headcount, sickness, recruitment analytics, staff turnover and remuneration reports.

Talent Acquisition and onboarding
- Responsible for efficient and accurate end-to-end recruitment in all areas across the Diocese.
- Coordinate and execute the Diocese recruitment processes to include working with recruitment agencies, posting job adverts, liaising with line managers for shortlisting, offers of employment to suitable candidates, and onboarding. Liaison with the HR Administrator who will support the administration and onboarding.
- Ensuring the new joiner inductions are organised and all documentation has been received and checked.
- Produce and issue relevant documentation following promotions, job title changes, salary increases and ensure that HR records are updated accordingly by the HR administrator
Learning & Development
- Identify learning needs and appropriate methods of meeting needs in the most cost-effective way.
- Support the HR Manager in the delivery of training as required, including annual conferences and line manager training.
- Ensures training requirements are met to fulfil and maintain health and safety requirements such as First Aid and Fire Safety.
- Ensures that refresher training is completed for existing employees in data protection, cyber security, health and safety, and EDI.
- Be a trusted advisor and coach to line managers on people related issues.
- Ensure all documentation is completed by employees who are supported in their further training and education by the Diocese, including a Further Education Support Agreement.
General
- Regular review of data integrity and updates to the HRIS.

We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead financial strategy to ensure long-term resilience, manage the finance team, deliver a high standard of financial governance, and provide effective support for our parishes. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide expert financial guidance to the Bishop, Trustees, and diocesan leaders. You will oversee financial governance, treasury and investment management, risk assessment, and IT strategy, ensuring financial prudence while supporting the mission of the Church.
We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with experience in complex organisations and, ideally, knowledge of the charity or not for profit sector. The successful candidate will have well-developed interpersonal skills, a track record of excellent attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-finance audiences. A commitment to teamwork and supporting parishes is essential.
An understanding of Catholic Church teachings and values is crucial, as you will play a key role in aligning financial decisions with pastoral priorities.
This role will be working 37.5 hours per week, offering a competitive salary of £85,000 - £95,000 per annum.

Role Purpose
The Director of Finance is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for strategic financial leadership and ensuring the financial sustainability of the Diocese. This role encompasses treasury management, investment strategy, risk management, IT oversight, and long-term financial planning. It also involves leading and developing a resilient and professional finance team.
The Director of Finance must balance financial prudence with pastoral priorities, fostering trust with clergy, lay leaders, and stakeholders while driving financial and operational efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and implement a financial strategy aligned with the Diocese’s mission and long-term objectives.
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and risk management to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with Canon Law, UK financial regulations, and charity law across all jurisdictions.
- Advise the Bishop, COO, Trustees, and key leaders on all aspects of financial management.
- Attend senior board and committee meetings presenting clear and insightful financial reports.
Treasury & Investment Management
- Oversee treasury operations, ensuring effective cash flow management and financial sustainability.

Lawyers Service
- Providing high quality services to our lawyers including identifying and recommending appropriate medical experts to clinical negligence solicitors; maintaining and developing the medical expert database. Routinely considering the Experts’ Protocol and ensuring that it remains relevant and fit for purpose.
Inquest Service
- Assessing cases for eligibility for AvMA’s pro bono Inquest Service according to AvMA’s criteria.
- Preparing cases for the coroner’s court to include sorting medical records; liaising with bereaved families by phone and in writing; researching medical literature; taking and preparing initial statements; liaising with the Coroner’s officer; securing appropriate disclosure documents; instructing counsel; assisting with preparation of bundles of documents for the hearing. Identifying general and specific patient safety issues; considering need for Prevention of Future Death Reports and or Action Plans.
- Attendance at pre-inquest hearings and inquest hearings with counsel and the family. This may involve travel and overnight stays. Out-of-pocket expenses are paid. Helpline
- Providing advice and assistance to the public on AvMA’s specialist helpline. Training will be given and in due course assisting the Helpline Development Officer to train helpline volunteers.

World Jewish Relief created the Specialist Training and Employment Programme (STEP) for refugees in 2016 and today we are the largest provider of specialist employment support to people who have experienced forced migration in the UK.STEP aims to support and empower people through a tailored employment programme that addresses the complex barriers that they face when preparing for and ultimately finding work in the UK.
We support all people who have experienced forced migration, regardless of their proximity to the labour market, to develop the skills and access the opportunities they need to secure sustainable and meaningful employment. We deliver STEP across the UK, through local partners in communities in person, and through our online programme – STEP Online.
We now have an opportunity for a remote Employment Advisor to join the STEP Online team. You will be working with participants, providing high quality 1:1 advice and guidance and delivering group employability workshops, with the aim of coaching individuals and supporting them on their journey into employment that suits their previous experience and skill set.
You will prepare participants for employment and help them to achieve their chosen training and employment objectives. You will work to a variety of performance targets based on the progression outcomes of clients such as successful delivery of workshops, completion of training courses, volunteering, and achieving and sustaining paid employment.
About you

The Clinical team at Diabetes UK gathers the diabetes management and prevention insights to help inform the organisation. As a valued member of the team, you will develop and share your knowledge and experience internally and externally to support Diabetes UK’s strategy. Role description:
You will lead a clinical area of diabetes, be an expert resource and maintain a good knowledge in all areas of diabetes care and prevention. You will gather new insights that help to inform Diabetes UK work, information and messaging while supporting other colleagues in developing diabetes knowledge. You will provide expertise within your clinical area on a range of matters including the development of products and resources, improving public understanding of diabetes through local and national media channels, reviewing evidence-based practice, and critically appraising to ensure clinical accuracy. Working with other colleagues, you will deliver wellbeing programmes to young people with type 1 diabetes. You will be a registered healthcare professional with clinical experience in diabetes preferably in paediatrics care within the NHS as a dietitian, nurse, or doctor. You will be passionate about using an evidence-based approach to creating resources for people with, and those at risk of, diabetes and healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will have experience of working across multiple teams, and be up to date with current developments, and trends, in diabetes care and prevention. You will be flexible in travelling around the country regularly to deliver wellbeing sessions including overnight stays, during some weekends and school holidays.

When a family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience for the whole family. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.
Back Up’s Family Support Service is there to help. We enable a wide range of family members of all ages whose loved one is affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) to improve their wellbeing, build a support network and transform their lives through Back Up’s services.
The Family Support Coordinator will assist in supporting family members on an individual basis as well as in group settings as appropriate, together with providing support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new family support volunteers.
A Family Support Coordinator will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

With a focus on Northern Ireland, you'll lead regional initiatives, tailoring them to local needs and supporting teachers through workshops and online sessions. JOB PURPOSE
To improve the provision of consistent high-quality debt advice, enhancing the experience of clients, by working collaboratively with delivery suppliers, to support them in implementing improvement activities, and in assessing and monitoring the quality of debt advice.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver individual strategic projects/business plan objectives for the team
Work with debt advice providers on an individual basis to improve the provision of consistent and high-quality debt advice, by supporting suppliers to implement improvement activities, and to assess and monitor the performance of their advisers and debt advice service overall to ensure that the quality of debt advice is improved where required, maintained and provided in accordance with regulation, project requirements, best practice, and agreed standards. This includes:

Working in collaboration with suppliers to make tailored recommendations and providing feedback to improve the quality of debt advice and client experience in a delivery supplier as appropriate, and identify good practice, where applicable

We are recruiting for a dynamic, visionary leader to join us as Director of Strategic Initiatives – a vital role in helping us grow our global movement. Reporting to our Chief Growth Officer, you’ll lead a talented team responsible for designing and delivering bold new strategies to increase revenue and build long-term, sustainable income growth and grow the strength of our National Affiliate network.
You will:
- Drive a programme of high-impact, global initiatives, from new fundraising products and digital solutions to youth and faith engagement strategies.
- Provide expert support and coaching to Executive Directors leading National Affiliates across the world.
- Guide strategic planning and change programmes with measurable outcomes, clear delivery plans and a deep focus on stewardship.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team of specialists focused on audience insights, product development and market expansion.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership across our global family to ensure alignment, shared learning and sustainable growth.
- Support the development of effective governance, technology and safeguarding practices across affiliates.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the MMI Executive Leadership Team and contribute regularly at the highest levels of decision-making.
About you:
You will bring significant senior-level experience in strategy, programme leadership, and/or business development – ideally in a global or multi-entity context within the charity sector.
- A strong track record of driving income growth and leading successful change initiatives.
- Experience working across cultures, with the ability to influence, inspire and build trust in diverse settings.
- A sharp focus on what works in fundraising, product innovation and audience engagement – particularly in the context of international development.
- Experience collaborating closely with technology teams to deliver digital and tech-enabled solutions.
- Proven leadership and coaching experience, with the ability to build high-performing teams and work with autonomy, agility and purpose.

In this pivotal role, you’ll develop and deliver a strategy to secure and grow mid and high-value, long-term partnerships that support our mission to support people affected by spinal cord injury. You’ll build strong relationships with new and existing partners and collaborate across teams to create impactful projects that align with our values.
