As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

The BMC is seeking a number of specialist volunteers to help manage our land holdings on behalf of climbers and walkers. Since 1979 the organisation has acquired eight climbing sites across England and Wales with legal ownership currently split between the Land & Property Trust (LPT, registered charity, No: 05611715), BMC Land Holdings Ltd and the BMC centrally.  The sites include sport climbing, bouldering and traditional crags, the full list in date order of acquisition is:

• Horseshoe Quarry, Peak
• Craig y Longridge, Lancs

Landownership and management is an important aspect of the BMC's work and responsibilities are split between the LPT, and the Land Management Group (LMG) add link which comprises volunteers with backgrounds in geotechnical engineering, law and environmental management. Day-to-day site operations are managed by a part time Land & Property Contractor (100 days per year), operating under the guidance of LPT and LMG, plus additional support staff providing core office services. Please note that these responsibilities do not extend to the BMC head office, or to owned / managed huts.

The Land Management Group (LMG) is seeking new members with experience in woodland / habitat management, the quarry industry, crag development (fixed equipment), health & safety or broader environmental policy. Direct knowledge of BMC sites and involvement in climbing will be a distinct advantage. LMG typically meets twice per year, either virtually, in Manchester or as part of site-based meetings. 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE 

• Attend two formal meetings per year and contribute to LMGs work between meetings
• Provide expertise, knowledge and support mainly through email correspond
• Advise on situations arising between meetings (reactive and proactive) 

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Relevant experience of land & property matters (conservation, woodland, quarries, site development / fixed equipment, health & safety, visitor management, law) and the wider environmental sector
• Direct knowledge of BMC sites and climbing
• Strong communication skills and good availability (email / phone)
• Close proximity to areas within BMC ownership
• Understand and follow relevant BMC policies and guidance 

WHEN, WHERE AND HOW MUCH TIME DO I NEED TO GIVE?

• Minimum of 2 meetings per year with follow-up communication between meetings.
• Provide occasional technical support for the Land & Property Manager

Our Friends Ageing Better (FAB) project is looking for volunteer hosts for our weekly FAB Phone Cafe. In this role you'll be helping to create a friendly, welcoming space and community connections with a group of older people facing isolation.

At Age UK Bristol, we want to change the way we age. We aim to keep people aged 55+ well and active, encouraging Bristol to be an Age Friendly city. We do this in 3 ways - through providing practical help and supporting people’s emotional and physical wellbeing in a range of ways depending on their needs.  In addition, we want to prevent people from needing our help wherever possible.  We do this in our strategic work, where we aim to create the conditions for older adults to remain healthy and independent.

We are currently looking for volunteers for our Phone Cafes on

Tuesdays 11:00-12:00 and 2:00-3:00pm

This role involves

• Welcoming older people who are new to the telephone group.
• Facilitating conversation in the group
• Keeping attendance sheets for group participants.
• Providing information about events and activities happening in the local area with the support of the FAB team

The qualities and skills required for this role are

• A friendly disposition, with the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere and include people so as to encourage an enjoyable experience.
• Ability to be assertive and intervene if necessary, for instance manage group members who may dominate the conversation
• Reliability and punctuality – calls need to run on time.
• Access to a reliable internet connection and a computer or tablet.
• Confidence in using new software so that calls run on time and everyone connects with the group (training provided; the platform we use is quite straightforward and easy to learn).
• Good verbal communication skills to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible and encourage shyer callers.
• An understanding of the needs of older people.
• Ability to respond to any Safeguarding concerns and keep the environment safe.
• Willingness to follow Age UK Bristol’s policies, such as Confidentiality, Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities, and to complete any training and admin needed to perform the role.

Project Introduction 

About The Cultural Ambassadors Project
Point of Growth is launching The Cultural Ambassadors, a 9-month community project in Greater Manchester beginning October 2025. Our mission is to support newcomers and migrants settling in the UK by co-creating a culturally informed guidebook, running safe conversational and information sessions, and building peer networks. Volunteers will play a vital role in making sessions accessible, welcoming, and safe.

Project Start (Estimated): October 2025
Base Area: Greater Manchester (Oldham / Rochdale / Ashton-under-Lyne), venue locations to be confirmed

Time Commitment:
Typically 1–2 days per month (or ~3–5 hours per session). Flexibility is built in.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist with set-up, registration, and welcoming participants

• Help facilitate group conversation, ice-breakers, or small group breakout sessions

• Support digital or hybrid participants (e.g. help with online forms, Zoom links)

• Distribute materials, refreshments, and cleaning up

• Provide informal signposting or peer support during breaks

• Work under supervision and follow safeguarding and inclusion policies

Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

The role involves

• Welcoming older people who are new to the FAB café

Information about the role

You’ll be helping develop new, engaging and inclusive learning content for Shelter and Shelter Scotland Volunteers. You’ll also be identifying any improvements that can be made to existing learnings and support in completing agreed upon updates.

Location: remote/home-based

Suggested contribution: 1 day per week (which can be flexible around your commitments).

Availability: volunteering will take place at a time that suits you, ideally within Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm but there is flexibility.

No Panic is a national charity at the frontline of accessible help for anxiety sufferers.

The No Panic Helpline is open 365 days a year between 10am and 10pm.

Those who call us can be struggling across a range of anxiety disorders: OCD; Panic Attacks; Phobias or General Anxiety Disorder.

We train our helpline volunteers to provide sufferers with all the information they need to begin the process of self-help recovery.

This is a remote volunteering opportunity where everything is done from home, including training, and there is never a need to attend elsewhere. This makes it the ideal opportunity for those with mobility or fitness issues.

Our volunteers work a 3-hour shift once a week.

Initial training is one evening a week for 8 weeks (for a small charge of £25 to cover costs), with backup support for the first 8 weeks on the helpline. There is continued support via bi-monthly support groups.
