The TUC is looking for a Policy & Campaigns Officer to contribute to our work ensuring workers benefit from and shape new technologies and artificial intelligence – in the workplace and in public policy.

It will suit someone who is comfortable engaging with fast-moving policy debates on AI, delivering public events and supporting unions to respond to how AI is changing the world of work.

What key experience, skills, knowledge and understanding do you need?

 You will need:

• Involvement in policy or campaigning on technology and AI issues

About the role

As Senior Caseworker, you will provide first and second-tier specialist advice and casework support on a range of welfare benefits issues. You will manage a caseload of complex cases and will take cases to the First-tier Tribunal. Issues we commonly advise on include PIP, LCWRA and Universal Credit.

You will also offer guidance to our Pro-bono Project volunteers on their appeals cases, review cases and submissions to ensure accuracy and quality, and deliver training to PBP project volunteers. You will contribute to the work of the policy team, sharing expertise, insights and evidence.

About you

You will have significant experience as a welfare rights advisor and possess in-depth knowledge of welfare benefits legislation, case law, and procedures, including challenges to decisions and representation at tribunals. You will have at least five years' experience delivering welfare benefits advice on a range of issues and have substantial experience of representing clients at the First-tier Tribunal. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have a commitment to working with communities who are marginalised and underserved.

With a passion for helping people to overcome poverty, you will have the ability to interview, advise, and work with service users empathetically. You will have a commitment to working in an anti-poverty charity that sees Policy & Influencing and Advice work as complimentary and integrated components of its strategy to eradicate poverty. Identifying and highlighting social policy issues and trends arising out of your advice and casework you will help inform our policy influencing and campaigning.

This role works with all teams within the Albany, so is ideally suited for someone looking to gain an understanding of the inner workings of a community arts organisation. The Albany is a registered charity and social enterprise generating over 50% of our annual turnover from earned income streams. These are essential elements of our organisation, both in terms of income generation and as a community resource. We have an incredibly varied set of earned income services, and for many people, the business development team (café, workspace and hires) is their first point of contact with the Albany.

You will help us maximise our earned income by working in a public-facing role both in person and over email, responding to enquiries and carrying these from initial advice through to point of sale, and supporting our operations team with delivery on the day as required.

You will help drive outreach to larger companies and organisations looking for Daytime Meeting and Conference Space, promoting our wide variety of spaces and ancilliary services to audiences needing a room for 2 – 250 people.

You will build on existing relationships and opportunities by working internally and externally to communicate clearly and keep our administrative records up to date to help us better understand our audiences.

We are seeking a qualified or part-qualified accountant for an exciting Financial Controller position with a growing international charity working at the intersection of cultural heritage and community development.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, this is a varied and hands-on role leading on the consolidation of accounts and supporting the organisation’s finance operations across multiple countries. You will play a key role in ensuring financial transparency, compliance, and robust reporting, working closely with both the central finance team and in-country colleagues.

As part of a close-knit and collaborative team, the Financial Controller will need a flexible, practical approach and a willingness to partner with stakeholders across different cultures and geographies.

Key skills and experience required:

• Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA) or part-qualified in final stages of completion
• Strong financial analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to produce and present concise financial reports
• Experience of managing and developing teams in dispersed or matrix settings
• Proven experience in the International NGO sector
• Experience producing consolidated statutory accounts under Charity UK SORP and managing multi-site international audits
• Experience with multi-currency and grant accounting
• Excellent understanding of financial processes, procedures, and related systems
• Experience of leading a month-end process, including preparation of management accounts
• Experience using cloud-based accounting systems (QuickBooks and/or Xero preferred)
• Understanding of commercial accounting and Gift Aid

Desirable:

• Experience mentoring colleagues remotely
• Experience working in a fully remote role
• Experience in a similar field (e.g. artisan communities or cultural heritage)

We are looking for a passionate and innovative individual to join our dedicated Puppy Training Team as a Puppy Trainer. This is an exciting opportunity at a prominent assistance dog charity for a dog training instructor to develop their skills and take on new responsibilities within this rewarding field.
 
Position: Puppy Training Coordinator
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days per week).
Contract: Temporary Maternity Leave Cover (9 month minimum contract)
Location: Homebased in South Hampshire. This role covers a specified geographical location in the Southeast of England - South Hampshire (purple area on the map attached). There will be regular travel involved in this role to undertake visits, training sessions and to transport dogs and puppies, therefore it is essential that you have a driving licence and appropriate vehicle for work purposes or the ability to travel significant mileage in line with the requirements for the role. Direct Reports: Puppy Training Volunteers
 
You will be part of the ambitious puppy team, developing, coordinating, and supporting the puppy training programme. You will have the opportunity to work with and train volunteers in the appropriate care and training of Canine Partners’ puppies. You will work with puppies from eight-weeks to approximately 15-months old, ensuring they receive appropriate socialisation and training before entering our assistance dog training, giving them the foundations to learn how to be life-changing assistance dogs, bringing greater independence and quality of life to people with physical disabilities. A proactive approach is key to maintaining the welfare and behavioural standards for the puppies. All training at Canine Partners follows best practice, positive reinforcement methods and this role is an ambassador for this approach.
 
About you:

• Experience of working with puppies.
• Good working knowledge of best practice dog training and behaviour.
• Good practical dog handling and training skills.
• Effective interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
• Strong administration skills with accurate record keeping.
• Coaching/ Teaching skills.
• Computer literacy/ IT skills (MS Office – minimum requirement basic level)
• Full UK driving licence and use of appropriate vehicle for work purposes.
• Ideally, you may have experience of working with volunteers.

 
It may be advantageous, but not essential, for you to have a relevant Animal Behaviour and Training Council – Animal Training Instructor (ABTC-ATI) accreditation. Most importantly, you will be passionate about the transformative impact that our assistance dogs provide to our beneficiaries.
