The role
Luminary is entering an exciting phase in its development, transitioning from a small, founder-led start-up into a medium-sized charity. About the team

As a Craft Operative for the LSE Region you will play an important role applying to help us improve, maintain, and preserve our wonderful network for our customers to enjoy today and into the future. This will involve undertaking the, refurbishment or repair of canal infrastructure including locks / bridges/ aqueducts / towpaths and associated equipment, working efficiently to defined safety /environmental and heritage standards at all times.

The post holders will be required to work an annualised hour’s system which includes working any 5 days out of 7 rota'd system including statutory holidays and weekends as well as being part of the on-call out of hours rota. Our Craft Operatives in the reactive team cover the whole of the LSE Region so you need to have your own transport and valid UK driving licence.

Contractually the role is based at Adelaide Docks, this role will involve regular travel across the London & South East region.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

As a Craft Operative for the LSE Region you will play an important role improving, maintaining and preserving our wonderful waterway network for our customers to enjoy by efficiently maintaining our locks and other assets along the local network in line with safety requirements and heritage standards. 

Responding to business needs, you will enhance the reputation of the network and support Canal & River Trust’s aims to improve safety; protecting the heritage and integrity of the inland waterway network.

Our Craft Operatives perform a unique role; fitting new lock gates as they are replaced, refurbishing or repairing existing lock gates and associated equipment, to ensure it is working efficiently & to defined standards. You will be working with specialist teams and experts in their field as our multi-disciplinary teams work together to improve our waterways and ensure our 200 year old assets can be enjoyed for years to come.

Key responsibilities: 

• Working outside, carry out maintenance and repairs works to the waterway infrastructure to ensure network availability is maximised. Repairs will often involve sensitive heritage or environment solutions which the role will be expected to be familiar with. In some instances, the operative will be expected to complete repairs to the highest standard utilising relevant skills and experience.
• Use Bricklayer expertise to undertake the manufacture & refurbishment within a timely manner, in accordance with defined standards and agreed programmes. 
• Operate a variety of machinery, plant, tools and other equipment in accordance with Canal & River Trust’s safety standards and where appropriate support in-house maintenance.
• Undertake general housekeeping of personal equipment, workshop equipment and workspace ensuring all are maintained to defined standards.
• Timely response to customers’ queries and requirements, including responding to emergencies.
• Ensure all equipment (PPE, plant, materials etc) is appropriate for the task.
• Operate regionally displaying the appropriate flexibility needed to deliver the nationally prioritised works programme. This will occasionally involve travelling further distances to undertake repair work.

About you

Operative skills are a minimum requirement.  Whilst it is also important that you can turn your hand to other skills which will be taught along the way, an understanding of, and high level of competence in certain disciplines are necessary.  You may have a background in the building trade, or from a specialist joinery background, where measuring, cutting and joining is all second nature to you. 

Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

• Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification (or experience) e.g. City & Guilds Level II, NVQ Level II 
• Experience handling plant/equipment in group A eg lifting plant, chainsaw, hand power tools.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a high-value portfolio, working with a broad range of major donors, trusts and foundations, senior volunteers, and influential stakeholders. The role will focus on growing and diversifying their network of major supporters—delivering six- and seven-figure gifts through proactive relationship management, strategic donor engagement, and collaborative internal working. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, Trustees, and external partners to enhance the philanthropic impact and build long-term partnerships that align donor ambitions with the organisation’s goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of high-value donors and prospects, including HNWIs, trusts and foundations, and senior figures such as Ambassadors, Trustees, and the President
• Identify and cultivate new supporters through targeted prospecting, research, events, and networks
• Develop and deliver an engaging stewardship and cultivation programme to foster lasting relationships and secure long-term, transformational gifts
• Collaborate with internal colleagues to shape compelling, tailored cases for support that reflect donor motivations and strategic priorities
• Build strong cross-organisational relationships to ensure cohesive, donor-centred experiences
• Champion a data-informed approach to donor management using CRM and internal systems to track pipeline activity and support reporting
• Represent the philanthropy function across the organisation, championing best practice and ensuring high-value fundraising is embedded and supported
• Ensure compliance with fundraising legislation and maintain the highest standards of ethical fundraising

Key Skills and Experience

Essential

• Significant experience managing major donor and/or trust relationships at six- and seven-figure levels
• Strong track record of securing high-value gifts and meeting or exceeding income targets
• Expertise in developing compelling, high-quality fundraising proposals tailored to donor needs
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders
• A strategic, creative thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and solution-focused approach
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a sharp eye for detail
• Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Confident using CRM systems to manage pipelines, analyse data, and support donor stewardship

• Experience working with senior volunteers or philanthropic advisers to increase income and influence

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Westway Trust as a Team Administrator, providing efficient and responsive administrative support to the Property Department, playing a key role in ensuring the annual cycle of organisational requirements in terms of administration are well planned, on track and delivered by the relevant part of the team. 

You will be a friendly, motivated, pro-active and experienced Administrator who will have the right blend and balance of people skills with the ability to drive work packages. You’ll be comfortable in connecting with wider colleagues and tenants on the Westway Trust 23 acres estate, with the ability to listen and gather a range of source material and feed these back into the work of the Property Team.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

• Provide efficient and effective administrative support to the Head of Property and the Property Managers, including the scheduling of team meetings.
• Initial point of contact for enquiries to the Property team.
• Manage routine office duties such as invoice requests and expenses.
• Schedule in key team tasks within the peaks and troughs of the range of team activities.
• Schedule Committee Meetings and attend in the capacity of the minute taker. Work with the team to prepare and collate the papers. Follow-up on actions for timely reporting.
• You will ensure time is set aside by the whole team to meet organisational goals, such as performance reviews, work to achieve the organisation’s annual audit, service charge reconciliation, and contractor reviews.
• You may be asked to commission regular cyclical reports from external providers and ensure they are delivered on time ready for upward reporting.
• You may be asked to organise emails, create presentations, and work within the teams filing system.
• You will receive reports from key team members and ensure they are ready to present through the Governance.
• You will co-ordinate and collage high level data collection provided by others for upward reporting.
• You will ensure key project information regarding estate development is circulated to the lettings and leasing side of the Property Team’s operation. This may involve calling on others in the organisation to assist.
• You will nurture positive relationships and information flow within the team groupings.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes

• Minimum 5 years’ administration experience working in a busy office, with strong organisational and time management skills.
• Experience of designing and delivering high quality, proactive project administration.
• Experience of scheduling and dealing with Committees.
• Proficient IT skills, across Microsoft Office, and willing to learn new systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create presentations and other communications.
• Experience of research.
• Experience of creating useful templates to support projects.
• Experience in prioritising competing demands and workloads.
• Experience of team-working and collaboration with an eye for detail.
• You will be assertive, able to use your own initiative and capable of managing upwards with tact.

With growing program activity, Program Accountants will manage their program portfolio and support to the Senior Programme accountant, CFO and the Senior Leadership Team on all aspects of program reporting ensuring accurate and timely reporting of financial information for Projects and Donor reporting.

About the Role

As a Program Accountant at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will:

• Ensure accurate and timely month end accounting and reporting for your portfolio of projects.
• Responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and analysis for projects in your portfolio and supporting the annual reforecast process in the Foundation.
• Ensure accurate and timely donor reporting in line with donor requirements, timelines, formats, contractual obligations, and timescales.
• Represent finance on project boards as required.
• Work with Business Development, Program Team and other stakeholders as required in preparing budget proposals to donors.
• Prepare and present financial reports to management.
• Provide financial guidance and support to stakeholders in the Foundation supporting decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant, accounting standards, and donor regulations.
• Work closely with the Program staff providing financial analysis, projects insights to help make sure that projects are completed on time and within agreed budgets.
• Continuous Improvement and Automation - Contribute to the improvement of financial processes, procedures and systems within the organization to enhance effective financial management and organisational efficiency.

About You

To be our Program Accountant, you will likely have:

• Qualified Accountant with experience working in program accounting and reporting in a Charity (minimum of 5 years of experience).
• Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong financial project reporting, budgeting, donor reporting including problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong Knowledge and understanding of financial process improvements.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

My client is a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of young people through better education. This clear goal sees them work throughout the UK and overseas, partnering schools, leading on teacher training and support as well as devising innovative new techniques and programmes.

At present they are looking for some interim support between permanent hires to their Financial Controller position. Reporting into the Director of Finance, key responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring the highest standards of financial controls are met across the organisation and its subsidiaries.
• Supervising a team of 2, be responsible for the processing and reporting of financial accounting data for the organisation including cash flow management and statutory returns.
• Working with finance colleagues on information required for internal and external stakeholder reporting.

The successful candidate will be fully qualified with a strong background in technical accounting. Open to candidates from all industries, you will be very comfortable with statutory accounting and Excel.

This role has been assessed as inside of IR35. With flexible office working practices, there is an estimated need for this role to be onsite in the London office 2 days a week.
