Transparency International (UK) are looking for a Research Officer

This role is responsible for delivery of tasks to support our research and advocacy efforts around corruption in the defence and security sector, including quality control of data, liaison with expert researchers, and consolidation of research inputs.

The role contributes both practically and intellectually to the successful delivery of high-end research and advocacy with a focus on effecting change.

The Research Officer will report to Head of Research and perform this within the (Defence and Security Programme).

Main responsibilities

• Contribute to the delivery of TI-DS’s research agenda by undertaking qualitative and mixed-methods research projects under the guidance of the Head of Research
• Produce and facilitate literature reviews, synthesis studies and case-based studies on the key topics set-out to contribute to support the development of our expertise on defence and security sector corruption and the overall achievement of our strategic objectives
• Collect and analyse secondary data, and produce primary data as needed, to provide new insights into corruption risks in the defence and security sectors
• Contribute to high quality research tasks across the work conducted through the Government Defence Integrity Index (GDI)
• Undertake detailed rigorous review and fact-checking of GDI country assessments and sources from a variety of experts, including assessors, peer reviewers, government reviewers, and institutional partners
• Review GDI assessment process and provide suggestions for improvements in methodology

Who we are looking for:

• Educated to Masters’ level in a relevant field of the social sciences, such as security studies, political science, or governance; or of business studies with an interest in defence and corruption
• First rate research skills and familiarity with a range of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies;
• Demonstrated self-starter with ability to successfully undertake and complete a project, while working across teams and making a positive contribution to collective outcomes.
• Strong written communication and verbal presentation skills with ability to deliver high quality briefings, reports and presentations with minimal supervision.
• Great interpersonal skills being able to build relationships internally and externally.
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively across teams
• Strong critical-thinking skills being able to apply sound judgement, problem solve, identify risks and suggest improvements.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in qualitative and mixed-methods research. Experience in quantitative analysis and applying rigorous fact-checking and source validation.
• Ability to produce clear concise literature reviews supported by good understanding of governance and corruption risks
• High standard of written communications and able to tailor writing to the audience
• Expertise in developing qualitative and mixed-methods research frameworks and structuring case studies.

About the role

The student representation team is an integral part of the Student’s Union here at Imperial College. We empower students to change the world around them. St Peter’s Hospice is seeking a compassionate, experienced Team Lead to manage our Psychological Therapies team to deliver specialist psychological care for people affected by life‑limiting illness and bereavement. You will combine leadership and management with direct clinical practice. 

It’s an exciting time to join the team as we develop our services to meet our strategic ambitions – leading, learning and innovating to deliver specialist palliative psychological support.

The role

• Provide day‑to‑day operational leadership and line management for our Psychological Therapies service, setting clear standards and fostering collaboration.
• As a qualified psychological therapist, you will hold a small clinical caseload, delivering evidence‑based one‑to‑one and group interventions, in person and virtually.

The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy, and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Brain Injury Community Service.

Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable adults during critical moments in their care journey? As a Hospital Care Navigator, you’ll be a vital part of ensuring patients leave the hospital safely and confidently, with the right support in place.

In this rewarding role, you’ll be the single point of contact for adult patients preparing for discharge from the hospital. You’ll work closely with the Adult Social Care team, health professionals, hospital practitioners, and community services to:

• Identify needs and barriers to safe discharge
• Achieve safe and timely patient discharge
• Coordinate outpatient appointments and follow-up services
• Provide clear, compassionate advice and support to patients and their families
• Ensure patients understand their discharge plan every step of the way.

You’ll meet with patients, their families, friends, or carers to assess ongoing needs, ensuring a safe plan is in place for their return home. This could include ensuring that medication is arranged from the hospital pharmacy, someone is at home to greet them, food and heating are available, and the condition of the home is safe to return to. You may be required to liaise with Adult Social Care and other home providers to coordinate home support. You’ll follow up on calls or visits to ensure the patient is managing well at home. By providing the proper support, patients can be discharged sooner, and the risk of readmission is significantly reduced. 

We’re seeking someone who:

• Has experience working with vulnerable adults in social care, healthcare, or the community/voluntary sector
• Communicates with empathy and confidence across different teams at different levels, and with patients
• Is highly organised, with excellent time management skills
• Has awareness and respect for cultural differences
• (Bonus) Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting.

The role is based at our Southwark office, and you will be required to travel to hospitals and across the City of London, as well as to Tower Hamlets, Camden, Hackney, and Southwark.

The Deputy Director of Operations (DDO) supports the Director of Operations and Development (DOD) in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and strategic functioning of the ELSC across multiple jurisdictions, including the UK, Netherlands, and Germany.

The DDO line-manages the Finance and Human Resources Managers and provides operational leadership in compliance, finance, HR, coordination, and employee engagement.

The ELSC has four departments (Legal, Monitor & Research, Advocacy & Communications, and Operations & Development) and five work teams (Britain, Netherlands, Germany, EU, Crimes and Complicity).

The DDO coordinates staff gatherings and internal engagement, including planning the annual in-person all-staff event, managing logistics for departmental and work team meetings, and supporting cross-departmental collaboration.

The role also assists the Director of Operations and Development with meeting facilitation and agenda development, co-facilitates weekly remote all-staff meetings, and supports the coordination of the monthly staff assembly.

This role requires exceptional organisational, interpersonal, time-management, and analytical skills.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrable experience in a senior operations and/or compliance role (5+ years).
• Experience with Finance, Governance, and Human Resources.
• Strong understanding of British, Dutch, and German legal and organisational frameworks (or ability to acquire this quickly).
• Experience organising events, preferably in more than one jurisdiction.
• Experience with line-management.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Demonstrated skills in managing HR and Finance functions.
• Demonstrated skills in line-managing a remote team and excellent interpersonal communications.
• Proficiency in English with excellent written and spoken communication skills (English is the working language of the ELSC).

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Proficiency in German, Dutch, or Arabic.

MAIN DUTIES AND TASKS

Management

• Line manage Finance Manager and Human Resources Manager.
• Schedule regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports, provide guidance on division of tasks, and monitor workload.
• Support direct reports in the implementation of Finance and HR strategy.

Compliance

• Ensure compliance for ELSC entities in the Netherlands, Britain, and Germany.
• Ensure Dutch insurance compliance and associated operational requirements.
• Review and monitor payroll monthly.
• Lead the establishment of a German legal entity, working with external advisors as needed.
• Oversee the British office operations, including the evaluation of office space.
• Conduct a review of office costs and usage.
• Provide administrative and logistical support to the Senior Legal Committee where needed, including facilitation and documentation.

Staff Coordination

• Plan and oversee the in-person all-staff gathering (2026) in coordination with the ELSC executive management team.
• Coordinate the logistics of annual departmental gatherings.
• Organise Work Team gatherings, supporting cross-departmental collaboration.
• Support the Director of Operations (DOD) with facilitation and agenda development for internal meetings.
• Facilitate 50% of Remote All-Staff Meetings (60min, weekly).
• Support the coordination of Monthly Staff Assemblies.

People & HR

• Oversee HR policy implementation and delivery of the annual People Strategy.
• Support the HR Manager in leading HR operations and in the recruitment and induction of new staff.
• Oversee the development of an Organisational Handbook.
• Review and improve the performance review process.
• Establish promotion guidelines to create transparent career progression pathways.
• Maintain and update the Organisational Chart quarterly.
• Review the Organisational Wiki (“The Fridge”) yearly.

Finance

• Oversee ELSC financial operations.
• Support the Finance Manager, providing oversight and strategic direction.
• Ensure effective operation of the Finance Committee, led by the Finance Manager.
• Review and distribute monthly financial reports to Department Heads via the Finance Committee.
• Ensure monthly financial summaries are reported to Work Teams through the Senior Legal Committee.
• Oversee completion of the organisational audit.
• Support short-term investment strategies.
• Monitor and report on operational budgets, ensuring accountability and fiscal responsibility across departments.
• Liaise and coordinate with the ELSC Treasurer Board member.

Training

• Standardise training and qualifications frameworks across departments to ensure transparency, fairness, and consistency in line with the ELSC Pay & Benefits Scale.
• Lead investment in staff training and development initiatives to strengthen organisational capacity.
• Support the qualification and professional development of junior legal staff through structured learning pathways in three jurisdictions with the support of the Director of the Legal Department.
