The UK Advocacy team focuses on creating lasting change for people with arthritis.We identify the policy changes that are needed, and influence decision-makers with engaging public affairs tactics and by campaigning alongside people with arthritis. 

This role will support our public affairs work targeted at Westminster to make real change happen. About the role

In this exciting role, you will be a critical member of our influencing team, helping to bring the voice of people living with arthritis right into the heart of Westminster. Working with the Public Affairs team, you will help to deliver the charity’s public affairs activities, building a strong profile with decision-makers to ensure our messages and policy priorities are front and centre of their thoughts.

You will support the delivery of exciting and engaging influencing strategies, working with colleagues to combine policy, public affairs, campaigning, media and social media in order to influence policy change.  You will also play a key role in organising and delivering the charity’s activities at Parliamentary events and political party conferences.

• Strong communicator to help build external relationships with politicians, civil servants and other decision-makers, coupled with good understanding of the Westminster Parliamentary process, UK Government and the wider influencing environment to produce engaging materials and organise events.
• Excellent organisational skills are essential, to deliver a programme of events, politician visits and other activities in Westminster and across the devolved nations.
• Excellent attention to detail, and ability to adapt written and verbal communication styles for different audiences.
• Ability to work with colleagues to develop external briefings, internal briefings and engaging materials for Parliamentarians and policy-makers, with the ability to synthesize often complex policy information.
• Proven ability of monitoring and analysis of the external policy, political and Parliamentary landscape across the UK nations, alerting breaking news and important developments.
• A flexible approach.

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Fundraising to develop and drive Iswe’s income generation strategy and grow a high-performing fundraising team.

This role is ideal for someone experienced and confident enough to lead the function with minimal oversight, but still eager to be hands-on. You will bring a good understanding of the climate, democracy, and systems change funding landscape, ideally along with existing funder relationships. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy aligned with Iswe’s organisational goals, including project-specific income generation and unrestricted funding.

Person Specification

Essential

• Substantial fundraising experience (minimum 5+ years), with a proven track record of raising six to seven-figure income across grantmaking, institutional funders, or major donors.

• Strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution skills — with the ability to own a multi-year fundraising roadmap and deliver results with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering fundraising strategies across multiple income streams (e.g. grants, high net worth individuals, public fundraising, or partnerships).

• Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling funding proposals and reports.

• Working knowledge of individual giving strategies, including use of digital tools for donor acquisition and retention.

• Working knowledge of GDPR.

• Understanding of how to build systems and culture to support high net worth individual engagement and income generation.

• Experience speaking and writing knowledgeably about deliberative democracy and multilateralism.

• Strong understanding of the global fundraising landscape in climate, democracy, and systems change — and ideally some well-established funder relationships.

The Role

The Head of Events is a crucial role, with responsibility for the overall strategic and operational leadership of BAUS’s events portfolio, which is their main source of income. The events portfolio also includes a calendar of smaller events such as Specialist Section Meetings, Educational Courses, and the associated sponsorship.

The main focus will be on the delivery of the exciting calendar of existing events, however the team welcome new ideas and innovation to enhance, support and grow their portfolio.

The Person

We are looking for a someone with a proven track record in managing large scale conferences and events at a senior and strategic level. Ideally with experience working in a membership organisation, you should have strong strategic skills in project management, planning and budget management.

You should have the ability to build and maintain senior-level relationships with committees, sponsors, and partners and we are looking for someone who possesses the knowledge and expertise to negotiate, influence and solve problems. Most importantly, you will need to be pro-active, passionate and reliable. Please note that due to the requirements of this role, you must also be able to work flexibly to attend events when required (although the charity will pay expenses and operates a TOIL system).

About The Role
Location – homebased within Brighton and Hove with some face-to-face meetings throughout the month within Brighton and Hove.
Hours – 21 hours per week, we can be flexible with the hours you would like to work except Thursday 9am to 2pm for team meetings.
Travel – we do welcome non drivers, and cover travel expenses within the Brighton and Hove boundaries,  so you will need to live locally or be prepared to cover travel costs outside of that area.
We have an exciting and vital opportunity to join our welcoming and knowledgeable team and as a Dementia Adviser, working within the Brighton and Hove Memory Assessment Service! This alliance brings together the NHS and the Alzheimer’s Society, where the successful individual will work as part of the team to deliver advice, guidance and , signposting to people affected by dementia and their families and carers across the city.
 This is a hugely rewarding role that allows you to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by dementia, pre diagnosis and post diagnosis. You will be working mainly from home, but also you will be meeting colleagues and clients face to face throughout the month. Appointments and visits are booked and arranged on the behalf of the team, for you to support people in their homes where we interact face to face, over the telephone and virtually to give people the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future. About you

- Be an empathetic listener, and effective communicator who adapts their style to suit the audience – from carers and families to medical professionals and colleagues, using a non-judgemental manner and a person centred, empowering approach.
- Be able identify, signpost and refer people to services needed as a result of your assessment and that of the other professionals in the team.
- Able to work under pressure and work within Memory Assessment Services appointment system and processes.
- Possess good IT skills to be able to accurately record keep and using client record systems with meaningful and valuable data.

What you’ll focus on:

- Provide pre and post diagnosis advice and guidance within in Brighton and Hove.
- You will identify people’s needs and the services they may wish to access, give advice about how to live well with dementia and support the improvement of their sense of wellbeing.
- Support with advice and guidance in person, over the telephone, via virtual options or in writing from your own home, at the Memory Assessment Service, in clinic and home visits.
- Aim to reach people affected by dementia from all communities and work to make your service as inclusive as possible.

Head of Finance
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per year, depending on experience

About the Organisation

Our vision is that students are always treated fairly and we work towards this by resolving complaints from students, sharing learning from complaints to help improve policies and practices at higher education providers, and working with other organisations in the higher education sector and beyond.

About the Role

As a Case-handler you will work as part of the team responsible for conducting the initial assessment process for complaints and for resolving complaints.  This is a public-facing role with a varied and interesting caseload that involves extensive interaction with students and universities/colleges.

Full training will be provided and a mentor will be at hand to help support and help you understand the needs and demands of the role.

Responsibilities include:

• Determine whether complaints are eligible for review and communicate decisions to students;
• Request and obtain documentation and information from higher education providers, students and student representatives;

• Provide effective guidance to students, student representatives and providers on the OIA’s case-handling process, possible remedies and typical timeframes;

Finance Business Partner | Interim | 3 - 6 Months | Up to £340 per day (Umbrella Co) | London | Hybrid

For a charity in central London, we're recruiting an interim Finance Business Partner to join a high-performing finance business partnering team. This role will manage the delivery of robust financial information to stakeholders. The Finance Business Partner will add value to the financial information provided by budget holders via technical analysis and data visualisation. This role will build excellent relationships with various teams within the charity to help them adhere to financial policies and build financial literacy capacity. The role is for 3-6 months and could go permanent for the right candidate.

Main Duties:

• Partner with senior budget holders to enable planning and budget decisions, and produce robust financial reports to inform decision-making
• Develop relationships with key stakeholders and provide expert advice and enable them to be accountable for their budgets
• Communicate analysis of financial plans and proposals and build financial literacy and confidence among budget holders
• Provide financial insights and analysis ensuring actionable insights are provided and use Power BI to improve the quality and value of financial information
• Prepare timely management accounts, restricted fund reports and balance sheet analysis
