The role

Our youth clubs and casework are transformative for young refugees, allowing young people who have fled danger, had traumatic journeys and who are often here alone, to find community and connection, have a space to be a young person and access support in addressing a whole range of practical challenges they face. We also draw on our evidence from working every day with young refugees and asylum seekers to call for change to the laws and policies which are harming young people.  

The Youth Development Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of our youth development programme for young refugees and asylum seekers. 

You will be focused on ensuring our programme activities achieve our outcomes, are in line with our strategy and identify areas for change and development under the direction of the Head of Services. An excellent communicator and skilled at working with partners, you will be key in the implementation and running all of our weekly youth activities, including a Youth Club and Advice and Support Hub working closely with the Youth Development Worker and having oversight of our weekly Young Women’s group. 

As an experienced manager, you will lead our team of skilled youth workers, working alongside the Brent team to provide holistic support to young asylum seekers and refugees in Brent.

The Deputy Service Manager supports the Service Manager in effectively managing all operational matters within their designated services, including line management of frontline staff.

The Deputy Service Manager shares responsibility for ensuring that a holistic and cohesive approach to customer support is embedded across accommodation services. Look Ahead operates trauma-informed and psychologically informed approaches, ensuring customers benefit from strengths-based support practices. The role requires an individual who embodies psychologically informed practice through their leadership style.

Oaklands & St Kilda consists of two supported accommodation services, each providing six mental health rehabilitation units for young people aged 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health-related hospital admission. The aim is to support young people to gain and develop the necessary skills for independent living and to manage transitions from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult Mental Health Services.

Together, these services support up to 12 young people at any one time, offering a welcoming, supportive environment on a spot-purchase basis.

The successful candidate will deputise for the Service Manager when required. This includes direct line management, leadership, coaching, and supporting Specialist Support Workers, Support Workers, and Waking Night Support Workers. Role and Responsibilities

Housing and Service Delivery

• Provide strong and effective support to residents in Acorn House that focuses on their strengths and goals, and is delivered in a personalised way and within a framework of active engagement and co-production

• Developing and reviewing support plans that reflect the interests and aspirations of residents

• Induct new residents in line with the service’s policies and procedures and support them to continue in their journey towards recovery from addiction

• Carry out assessments of those referred to Acorn House, and induct new residents

• Ensure the fundamental needs of residents are met including good quality accommodation and facilities, healthy food, advice and guidance around benefits, and alcohol and drug testing (to help maintain an abstinent environment)

• Deal with the immediate support needs of residents as appropriate, providing crisis intervention where necessary

• Support residents in addressing physical and mental health issues, including liaison with primary and secondary health teams

We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager to join our Finance team and support the strategic financial management of the business.

Job Overview:

The Management Accountant will be pivotal in providing accurate and timely financial information and analysis to support decision-making across our care homes and retirement villages. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to ensure the company’s financial performance is closely monitored and aligned with organisational goals.

You will be responsible for managing month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting and providing insights into financial performance for our retirement villages. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a business that positively affects people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting & Analysis:

o Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for care homes, nursery and retirement villages.

o Analyse financial performance and variances, providing actionable insights to senior management.

o Provide financial analysis to support key decision-making, highlighting cost-saving and efficiency improvements opportunities.

• Budgeting & Forecasting:

o Work with departmental managers and Head of Finance to create annual budgets and financial forecasts for individual homes and the group.

o Assist with quarterly and annual forecasting, revising financial projections based on changing business conditions.

• Cost Control & Financial Performance:

o Monitor operational costs and identify areas for cost reduction, ensuring financial controls are in place.

o Support the procurement process by evaluating supplier contracts and ensuring cost-effective purchasing.

• Compliance & Audit:

o Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations (e.g., IFRS, FRS 102, VAT).

o Assist in preparing year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and reports.

• Stakeholder Engagement:

o Work closely with village and care home managers, the senior finance team, and external auditors.

o Present financial results to non-financial managers and ensure financial understanding across the business.

• System and Process Improvement:

o Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting processes.

Key Requirements:

• Qualifications and skills:

o Formal accounting qualification (eg ACA, ACCA) is essential.

o Advanced understanding of accounting principles and practices.

o Familiarity with medium/large accounting software.

o Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make data-driven decisions.

o Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

• Experience:

o Proven experience as a Management Accountant or in a similar financial role, ideally within the healthcare, social care, or similarly regulated sector.

o Strong understanding of financial controls, budgeting, and forecasting in a multi-site environment.

o Previous experience in care homes, retirement villages, or the broader healthcare sector is advantageous but not essential.

We are looking for 2  people to join our HR Shared Services (HRSS) team supporting employees across St Mungo’s in HRSS Administrator roles. This is a busy and varied role where you will play a key part in providing high quality and proactive administrative support function within the HRSS team.
