Job Title: Deputy Service Manager

Location:Latimer Road, Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) - Walking distance from Latimer Road underground station (Circle and Hammersmith and City Lines). Please note that unfortunately this service does not have step free access

Salary: £34,000

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 09:00 - 17:00. Some flexibility maybe required depending on the needs of the service. 

About the role

As a Deputy Service Manager, you will support the Service Manager in driving excellence in service delivery, being a point of contact for staff and ensuring they are empowered, skilled, knowledgeable within their roles and create a supportive environment where both staff and residents can thrive. Our residents in this service have experienced long term street homelessness and have faced significant challenges including with their mental health, substance use, and alcohol dependency, and struggled to sustain engagement with support services.They are here to make positive changes and receive the support they need to achieve greater independence and progress in their recovery.

In this role, as a Deputy Service Manager, you will work within a 24 hour service which provided person centred support to our residents. Some key responsibilities include:

• Line management and leadership, offering guidance and support throughout the employee lifecycle.
• Support the Service Manager in leading the day to day operational delivery of the service.
• Risk Management ownership, ensuring processes and policies are followed.
• Property and housing management, ensuring accommodation standards, timely maintenance and reporting.
• Financial Management, including petty cash and budget management.
• Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required.
• Striving to ensure excellence and quality in our service delivery.

We’re looking for a support worker who will: 

• Support the Wales Mission Team in their ongoing mission to pioneer and create opportunities for children and young people, who are found in the 95% of those outside the church, to explore the Bible, respond to Jesus, grow in faith, and become sharers of the good news of Jesus for themselves. Our priority is to reach those who don’t yet know Jesus by helping them to connect, explore, respond, and grow. 

• Work with the National Mission Co-ordinator (Wales) and the team in the National Office to develop a wider provision for mission resources, communication and marketing materials in the Welsh language. 

This is a permanent role at 0.5 FTE with a salary of £11,970.  

What You'll Do   

• Administrative Support: provide administrative support to the Wales team with regard to arranging meetings, note taking, event bookings, internal communication and database support.

• Communication: communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences in Wales in a variety of ways including newsletters, social media, updates to the website, supporter communications, handling enquiries from church volunteers/workers. 

• Welsh Language: support with translation and proof-reading to expand the provision of Welsh language mission resources and communication with supporters.

The General Manager of DPA will be responsible for supporting the development of DPA, driving the company forward, raising the profile, reach, and impact of the work, and ensuring the viability and effective operations of DPA.

Our General Manager is a key member of Different Planet Arts small staff team. Working closely with the Artistic Director and the Board of Trustees as part of the Senior Management Team, you will manage and organise operational support for Different Planet arts programme, ensuring we provide an excellent service to our participants, partners and audiences.

This role is suitable for someone building a career in operations. We are looking for someone who can maintain and provide the right systems and structures to enable others to lead and create our arts projects, and provide ongoing, efficient admin, managerial and fundraising support.

You will manage and be responsible for our systems and processes for financial administration, fundraising, governance procedures and processes, monitoring and keeping the Different Planet Arts office running day-to-day as an administrative hub. You will work closely with our treasurer (who is responsible for creating quarterly Management Accounts.)

Role: General Manager  

Reports to: Artistic Director & Board of Trustees 

Salary: £190 per day, 3 days a week for 48 weeks of the year

Contract: This is a rolling freelance position initially for 6 months to be extended subject to securing future funding

Hours: Preferably 3 days (22.5 hours) a week, 1.5 days at our office in Lewes.

Management Responsibilities

• Manage DPA's financial operations, ensuring accurate budgets and reports for staff, board, auditors and funders
• Develop and operate the most efficient administrative processes and systems to support the smooth delivery of DPA's work.
• Ensure DPA's organisation and activities comply with the requirements of Charities Commission and Companies House. Act as DPA's principal interface to these bodies
• Ensure governance, HR policies, and practices are reviewed and updated to deliver a safe working environment and compliance with employment law

Job Requirements

Experience & Knowledge

• A minimum of three years' experience in management and administrative in an arts, or charity organisation or as a company manager in theatre

• Experience of financial processes, including budget management & monitoring

• Understanding of HR policy, processes and best practice

• Experience of securing resources, including making successful funding proposals and grant applications

• Experience of managing office systems, including IT systems.

• Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person and in writing with a wide range of people

• Understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace

• Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise

• Ability to develop, maintain and contribute to partnerships involving various stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes

• Skilful in managing a small and passionate team of employees, freelancers, and volunteers.

As Grants and Impact Manager you will be stewarding high-profile Trust and Foundation donors, researching new prospects, and writing compelling applications using detailed case studies compiled by the team. You will also coordinate the development of a new Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) programme, strengthening our ability to measure, understand, and communicate the impact of our work. A key part of this will be focusing on evidencing and enhancing the positive change created by Caring in Bristol, ensuring that funders and stakeholders can clearly see the difference their support makes.

About the role  

As our Grants and Impact Manager, you will play a pivotal role in sustaining and growing Caring in Bristol’s income from Trusts, Foundations and statutory grants, by acquiring and managing high-value funder relationships. Alongside this, you will take the lead in developing and embedding a clear, organisation-wide Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) programme. This new focus will enable us to set measurable goals, track progress, and capture the real-world impact of our work - ensuring we can tell a compelling, evidence-based story to funders, partners, and the wider community. 

You will identify and lead the creation of high-quality trust and foundation applications and proposals, working closely with the Head of Trusts and Foundations, and take responsibility for a portfolio of funders, building strong, long-term relationships, improving funder satisfaction and securing continued or increased investment in our mission. 

Beyond managing relationships, you will help transform the way we demonstrate impact. By collaborating with service delivery staff to develop our impact monitoring practices you will ensure we can report back to funders with clarity, consistency, and confidence - showing exactly how their support translates into tangible outcomes for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Bristol. 

You will also be instrumental in delivering a best-practice funder engagement programme, finding innovative ways to create value for funders through tailored reports, webinars, site visits, and other forms of involvement. Acting as an ambassador for Caring in Bristol, you will represent us to funders and stakeholders with credibility and passion, using your insight to strengthen our reputation and influence. 

Finally, you will act as a voice of the funder within the charity, ensuring their perspective shapes our project design, monitoring, and communications. Working collaboratively with colleagues across service delivery, income generation, and finance, you will help embed practices that not only improve funder relationships today but also make Caring in Bristol more strategically and sustainably fundable for the future.

Relationship management [20%]

• Manage great relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, donors, and your Board of Trustees 
• Embed into your local church; working closely with your Spear Trustees and congregation, and actively participating in their mission and events
• Partner with the Spear Trustees and assist in implementing their funding strategy by helping to build corporate and donor relationships. For example, by hosting prospective donors in the Training Room

Delivery of the Spear Programme [20%]

• Support group and 1-1 coaching with numerous 16-24-year-olds: equipping them with practical work-ready skills and resilient mindsets 
• Provide guidance to the Lead Coach in the training room when dealing with behavioural and safeguarding situations and upskill coaches with consistent coaching feedback
• Use a coaching approach to engage young people in challenging conversations that will enable them to take responsibility and over significant barriers to employment 

Operations [10%]

• Liaise with relevant staff regarding site operations and work to resolve any issues as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training room are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies

You will lead on fundraising from Trusts and Foundations and be responsible for relationships, applications and reporting to major Trust and Foundation funders. This varied and dynamic role will lead on the set up, coordination and provision of excellent person-centred care and support to service users, enabling them to live independently in their home and be supported in all aspects of day-to-day living. As Project Manager, you will oversee the development and implementation of care plans designed to provide meaningful choice and a range of activities and support to meet individual needs. You will also contribute to the development of the team and be responsible for encouraging a culture based on respect and dignity for those in need of care and support, providing supervision and clear management to a team of support workers.

The ideal candidate will have experience of leading and coaching a team supporting people with learning disabilities or another vulnerable client group. Job purpose:
Alongside the Head of Finance, the Management Accountant will provide business partnering by build relationships with SMT, managers and their teams, providing them with financial insights, reporting and analysis that enable them to make informed decisions. Key responsibilities:

Financial management and reporting

• Prepare monthly management accounts and cash flows for the Head of Finance to review.

• Maintain the Association’s accounting systems including updating the chart of accounts, period maintenance and user access.
