This is a rewarding opportunity to facilitate weekly story reading sessions with the children in our refuges over the summer holidays! During the school summer holidays, Hestia runs a six-week Summer Play Scheme providing activities and outings for mothers and their children across our refuges. Funded through generous donations from the public, the Summer Play Scheme provides women and children with a safe and supportive space to reconnect by having fun and sharing happy memories together as family.

• To develop positive relationships with the children and women, maintain professional boundaries and keep accurate records.

We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Haringey group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community. In this role you’ll be able to develop your leadership, management, communication, organisation and motivation skills.

We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organisation that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.

Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organisations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe. 

Summary Terms of Reference

We currently have nine trustees on our board and three established subcommittees. One oversees our People and Culture function, one looks after our Finance, Risk, and Audit area, and the other is the Safeguarding Reporting Committee. All three are populated with trustees who are experts in their respective fields.

We are establishing a fourth subcommittee (the programme subcommittee) to address our core mission: supporting coastal communities in rebuilding fisheries and restoring ocean life. Our new trustee will be invited to join one of our subcommittees.

We seek two trustees to join Blue Ventures' Board of Trustees and contribute to the new Programme Committee. This committee provides strategic guidance and oversight of Blue Ventures’ global programme portfolio, helping to ensure its effectiveness, impact, and alignment with our mission to support coastal communities in rebuilding fisheries and restoring ocean life.

The ideal candidate will bring expertise in community-based conservation, small-scale fisheries, environmental governance, and/or international development. We are looking for passionate and creative volunteers to bring joy and engagement to our Support Circle Group, a community space for individuals living with chronic and long-term illnesses. The Support Circle Group provides a safe and welcoming environment where participants can connect and share experiences. As part of our sessions, we would love to introduce creative activities to uplift and inspire our members.

Some proposed activity areas we can consider:

 Music – Singers, musicians, or who can bring live music.
Arts & Crafts – Simple and accessible creative activities for self-expression.
Games & Activities – Light hearted, inclusive, and interactive fun.
Other Creative Talents – Poetry, storytelling, or any other engaging ideas.

The volunteering activity:

We will need support with;

-  Participating in a briefing meeting with the service to further explore your proposed activity in your volunteering application
- Clarify practical support needs from the team for the activity to take place e.g. venue set up
- Facilitate your chosen and agreed volunteering activity session you’d like to offer
- Consider formal risk assessments with the support of your Trust point of contact for safe and effective delivery of activities

Considerations

We do not have resources to provide materials, but the goal is simply to spark interest and engagement. The activity will serve as a light and enjoyable way for participants to connect, express themselves, and find joy at the end of each session. Consider keeping activities simple but meaningful and rewarding for patients e.g. origami is fun and interactive whilst requiring very little material resource. Sessions last for 30 minutes, another reason why simple ideas will work. We are happy to discuss your initial ideas to align them to group goals too upon applying (no idea is a bad idea).

• Assessing whether prospects are a suitable fit.

2. Administrative support

• Updating our fundraising database and Excel workbook, as you progress. This will involve deciding whether the fundraising team should make an application for each prospect.
• Supporting with fundraising related tasks, on an ad hoc basis, as is required within the Trusts and Foundations team.

Skills and qualities

Essential

• Strong IT proficiency. You will be confident in using Microsoft Office, especially Excel. With a willingness to learn about our fundraising database.
• A methodical and orderly approach. You will be comfortable with online research and working through a workbook of contacts.
• Good verbal and written communication skills. You will have the ability to clearly and concisely summarise information from readily available sources.

We are looking for up to 3 Trustees to join our Board at Citizens Advice Tandridge District to support and develop our strategic priorities as the organisation works to ensure it can help as many clients as possible at a time when they need us most.

Who we are

Citizens Advice Tandridge District is a local independent charity that provides information and advice to help people resolve their problems, including benefits, debt, employment, housing and so on. We provide free and independent advice to help people solve the difficulties they face, and improve the policies and practices that affect peoples’ lives.

The role

Citizens Advice Tandridge District is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who can bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and broaden the diversity of thinking on our board.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people in our community in Tandridge.

We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals who preferably, but not essentially, have expertise in Human Resources, and Fundraising.

As a Trustee, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our organisation, offering guidance and support to our small team of staff and volunteers and most importantly the people in our community. We are looking for individuals who are committed to making a positive impact and who bring valuable skills and insights to help us achieve our mission and ensure the sustainability and growth of Citizens Advice Tandridge District
