We already have an exciting co-developed curriculum ready for an immediate launch. We are looking for the ideal candidate to set up the essential processes to underpin this service, ensuring that all administrative functions are in place; acting as a first point of contact for referrers and clients; providing one to one support to learners; and facilitating peer support and steering groups to ensure that the college develops in line with service user needs and wishes.

Manor Place Hostel and David Barker House, provide supported housing for individuals with a history of homelessness and complex needs. This vary from ex-offending, substance misuse, mental health, domestic violence, etc. Manor place Hostel is a service which accommodates 34 woman with various complex needs including primarily mental health, substance misuse and domestic violence. David baker House accommodates 45 males with various complex needs of support including mainly ex offending, mental health and substance misuse. Both services provide 24/7 support helping customers with their day to day life's skills and supporting them towards independent living. Many of our customers come from a background of homelessness making their trust in the people and professionals very low. The majority of our customers have complex needs and a dual-diagnosis, meaning that they are struggling with more than one of the criteria previously mentioned. The two hostels are based near Southwark and Kennington Station with a workable distance between both.
Job Overview:
To enable and support vulnerable individuals with complex needs to address this while maintaining their tenancy with the long term goal of living in an independent setting by providing flexible and individually tailored support package. Working with excluded and hard to reach customers can be challenging however, with intensive support this challenge can be broken. You will need to be able to engage our customers in a non-judgmental way. You will also be responsible for dealing with emergencies that may arise during your shift whilst remaining calm and using initiative then writing up incident reports amongst other administrative tasks.
As a support worker, you will be working as part of a team as well as with external agencies such as London Probation Service, local substance misuse services, Mental health teams, and police amongst others. Sometimes customers may not be linked in with agencies when they entre the service, as a support worker it is part of your role to ensure they are receiving the correct support from agencies required. Ideally, you will have experience of working with vulnerable people or an understanding of the needs of homelessness. You will be required to support customers with managing their arrears; ensuring housing benefit is applied for as well as monitoring payments and acting appropriately if payments are suspended in order to ensure customer does not fall into any arrears.
You will be responsible for supporting the working shift pattern of the service which is a five week rolling rota which consists of working some weekends as well as long days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Team Leader/ Manager
- Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions
- Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
- Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community

Hackney Road Project provides 24 hour accommodation based support for up to 31 individuals with complex histories, multiple traumas, complex personality disorder(s) and a varied, disrupted housing history with experience of homelessness as well as individuals who have been diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health conditions who are under the Care Programme Approach (CPA).
Hackney Road Project implements and promotes the Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) model. Part Time Waking Night Support Worker - £14,625 per annum, 30 hours per week, permanent position
Full Time Waking Night Support Worker - £19,500 per annum, 40 hours per week, permanent position

Hope Place is a new supported accommodation service located in Slough comprising 10 self contained rooms with a staff office on site. The service accommodates and support people who experience moderate to high complex mental illness, many of whom will also have a range of additional and complex needs, for example drug and alcohol misuse issues and personality disorders.
Hope Place provides care and support for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays. The service is covered at night by designated Waking Night staff. Support Workers will be required to work on a rota basis, covering early and late shifts, including at weekends and Bank Holidays.
The service has a focus on enabling and utilise customers' skills. Amongst other responsibilities, the successful candidates will support service users to acquire tenancy sustainment and budgeting skills, encourage and facilitate group activities, socialisation, opportunities for training and employment.
Waking Night Support Workers enable people with particular needs to manage their tenancies and live independent lives of their choosing in the community. Night Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of a support service at night and for keeping customers and the building safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere
- Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
- Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'
- Providing support with daily living activities, including practical assistance to support customers to independent living e.g. budgeting, cooking, establishing a night time routine
- Supporting customers to maintain a healthy environment and where appropriate assisting them to clean their accommodation and maintain good personal hygiene
- Provide phone support to the customers of our sister project Hope House and report to Hope House management accordingly
- Assisting in the recording and reporting of customer incidents
- Managing customer referrals, completing assessments and obtaining and maintaining all relevant paperwork
- Developing productive relationships with partner organisations to improve service outcomes
- Adhering to lone working protocols and maintaining high levels of awareness in relation to the health and safety of yourself and colleagues
- Involving customers in the design, development and delivery of the service
- Ensuring Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are adhered to at all times e.g. fire risk assessments, fire alarm checks etc

We currently have a number of exciting part time vacancies to join our Day Opportunities provision as Positive Behaviour Support Workers! These are a set of newly created roles that will focus on delivering person-centred care to a range of people with Autism and behaviours that may challenge, providing support to offer them the best opportunities.
As a Positive Behaviour Support Worker, you will have a chance to be involved in the implementation of support plans and risk assessments, as well as helping respond to triggers for behaviours that may be of concern. You will also provide emotional support to the individuals, promote decision making, facilitate and participate in a range of social and leisure activities and support them to achieve goals and positive outcomes, helping build self-esteem and confidence.
Positive Behaviour Support Worker Duties:
* Participating in the implementation of Positive Behaviour Support Plans, including
proactive support and responding to triggers for behaviours that may be of concern.
* Observing and reporting subtle changes in behaviour, communicating any changes to line manager and team members.
* Being involved in the assessment and management of risk and follow risk assessments consistently to ensure the safety of the service user and members of the public.
* Providing emotional support to the service user in managing their anxieties and behaviour through coping strategies.
* Recording all incidents and contributing to team discussions around incident analysis and strategies.
* To provide support to people with learning disabilities, autism and behaviours of concern in their own home, in the community or whilst attending a leisure activity at a Centre 404 base.
* To liaise with the service user's family, advocates, and other professionals where appropriate.
Positive Behaviour Support Worker Requirements:
* Track record of providing high standards of service while under pressure with challenging client groups in disciplines such as acute mental health, community care or other.
* Experience of working with vulnerable client groups, including but not limited to people with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health issues.
* Minimum 2 years' experience delivering personalised outcomes and improving the quality of life for challenging client groups.
* Experience of maintaining positive environmental factors, using evidence-based strategies to improve quality of life, and the least restrictive interventions to deescalate behaviours that may challenge.
* Emotionally resilient and composed
* Self-aware and self-reflective
* Good communication skills and IT proficient
* Understanding of autism and/or commitment to learn about this condition and the importance of following structured boundaries to provide consistent support.
* Understanding of key legislation relevant to the care of vulnerable groups including the Mental Health Act and Care Act
