The Crisis Alternative Service Manager role sits within our Adult Services, across Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, Hounslow. You will be responsible for the operational delivery and service development, of a portfolio of services. Namely (but subject to change):

• Safe Space Community
• Safe Space ED
• Hounslow Helpline
• Nova Roots (Forensic Community Hub)

One large service you will be responsible for is our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is a tri-borough out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00pm – 11:30pm across all of our boroughs. You will be responsible for managing peripatetic teams: we currently have 3 in person Safe Spaces and based in 3 A&E.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis.

The Role

The role of the Crisis Alternative Service Manager will provide operational management, mobilisation and service development of all Crisis Services within Adult Services. The ideal candidate will have experience of mobilising and developing high quality, large services. In addition to managing and supporting staff working within challenging environments and experience of working with challenging behaviour and complex needs. The Service Manager will hold all operational risk.

Excellent organisation and decision-making skills are essential for this role, as it requires being able to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and work unsupervised during evenings and weekends. You will also be required to be rostered into the on-call rota.

The Crisis Alternative Service Manager will be required to work collaboratively with the Director of Adult Services and will be proficient at communicating effectively with staff at all levels, a wide range of key stakeholders and service users. They will ensure the service is well resourced from a staffing perspective and embed high-quality operational plans and processes.

They will be responsible for the delivery, progression and continual improvement of the service. They will have responsibility for ensuring Crisis Services operate in line with organisational H&S processes and procedures, HFEH Mind policies and CQC requirements.

• To oversee the management of the Crisis Alternative Services and other services, in line with organisational values and service quality expectations.
• To ensure all risks are recognised and mitigated in line with the serious incident and safeguarding policies.

• To pro-actively develop relationships with external stakeholders in order to improve and develop crisis provision for people with mental health needs.

• To ensure excellence in the recruitment, training and ongoing support of staff and volunteers where applicable.
• To support the Team Managers to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing at all times within the service.

• A minimum of three years managing a crisis service or similar setting with high complexity and high incident rates
• Experience of managing and mitigating risks
• Experience of managing safeguarding risks and understanding legal requirements for safeguarding adults and children

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions within the North London area.

About the Team

Our three Communities Teams are responsible for identifying, investigating and intervening in housing and homelessness practice issues. We engage with our local communities to understand the issues people are facing and apply expert housing knowledge, insight and analysis to identify solutions to them. About the role

As a Housing Rights Worker, you’ll be responsible for delivering high quality housing advice and advocacy in our offices, in community settings and remotely in line with local pressing issues. That will involve developing relationships within communities through a range of interactions, including delivering housing rights workshops. It will also involve engaging, enabling and empowering people with lived experience of homelessness to share their story, give their views and participate in interventions at a local and national level. Influencing a range of stakeholders and decision makers across the housing sector will be important too. And, when it comes to harnessing strong relationships with external partners or recording stories, data and evidence to develop insight that helps us drive systems change, again, well count on you.

About you

Purpose of the role:

Assisting in the resettlement of vulnerable refugees and Afghan evacuees through the provision of advice, guidance, and support.

Context of the role.

Upbeat Communities delivers several services to welcome refugees and support them to rebuild their lives. We are looking to recruit an Integration Worker who will offer support working on the refugee resettlement scheme.

Refugee resettlement takes place across Derbyshire and Lincolnshire. Over the past 7 years, Upbeat Communities has welcomed and played a key part in the resettlement of Syrian refugees in partnership with local authorities in both counties. This role has included supporting families to apply for universal credit and set up bank accounts, registering with GPs and local schools in addition to integrating into their local community. Since the summer of 2021, we have taken on responsibility for the resettlement of Afghan families in both regions.

This role requires working within a fast-paced and dynamic environment to manage a caseload of participants' families, with a lot of travel across the county of Lincolnshire. Areas covered could including Sleaford, Bourne, Spalding, Skegness, Boston.

• Knowledge and understanding of the needs and experiences of asylum seekers refugees newly arrived in the UK.
• Experience of working with people from different cultures and backgrounds and an understanding of cultural diversity, equal opportunities.
• Knowledge and understanding of the roles that empowerment and independence play in the integration of refugees.
• Good spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate to participants and external agencies.

 Desirable

• Ability to speak a second language relevant to the refugee communities we work with (e.g. Arabic, Dari, Farsi, French, Pashtu, Sorani, Spanish, Tigrinya).
• Experience of delivering training or awareness sessions to a range of different audiences.
• Experience of working with families and children.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Worker 2 to join our Kickstart Future service on a fixed term basis until 31st March 2025.

The Supported Accommodation Kickstart Futures service. currently supports young people across the London Boroughs of Sutton and Croydon, who are living either in specified semi-independent properties or elsewhere in the community.

Location of the post:

 You will be community based, so you would be expected to support and travel where the young people live covering Croydon and Sutton.

Hours

Full time – 37 hours.

The Ideal candidate will need:

• Experience of working with looked after children / care leavers and understanding of the accommodation needs of care leavers.
• Knowledge and understanding of the specific needs of young people leaving the care system.
• Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with children and young people.
• Knowledge/understanding of the needs of Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking children and young people.
• Understanding benefits processes, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.
• You will need to be a confident writer with analytical skills and experience in completing reports.

Some of the key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• The delivery of 1:1 keywork support to care leavers that meets their individual needs. Frequency of key work will be dependent on the support package of each young person.
• Development and delivery of weekly group work programmes for care leavers.
• Assessing young people's needs and agreeing a support plan for each young person in partnership with the Personal Advisor. Each plan will have clear milestones and outcomes to be.
• Taking appropriate referrals for the service.
• Producing quarterly monitoring reports and attending quarterly contract meetings as part of the quality assurance framework.

History of Service:

The Kickstart Futures service has been established to provide support to Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers and young people who have been trafficked, aged 18-25. We also support care leavers who are not from a forced migration background. The service launched in June 2020, initially supporting young people living in 1 semi-independent property in Sutton. We are currently providing support in 6 semi-independent properties in Sutton and Croydon, as well as within different community settings. We expect this service to continue to grow, and to provide support across an increasing number of properties.

The role

The Business Support Manager will lead the development and delivery of best quality, highly responsive business support services helping to ensure administrative excellence, smart systems and processes and fully compliant operations across the organisation. 

Working to the CEO and with the wider management team, the Business Support Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating central services for the charity. What we offer:

This is a fixed-term contract, initially for 18 months.  The role is a part-time position, working 3 days / 22.5 hours per week.

Stepping Stones exists to improve the lives of adults with learning disabilities. We are seeking an enthusiastic and agile manager who will be at the heart of the organisation and will lead a small team of qualified tutors and volunteers in continuing to provide high quality experiences for the people who attend. About the role:

You will lead and support a team of Homicide Family Caseworkers to meet VS and Homicide Service standards and contractual requirements. You will be able to demonstrate the excellent organisational skills essential to managing a demanding and diverse workload and will have experience of achieving key performance indicators, as set by the Operation managers and Deputy Head of Service.

We pride ourselves on providing exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support to all service users and you will have an understanding of the impact that trauma and bereavement can have on individuals. You will have excellent communication skills and will support the Operation Managers to maintain the highest standards of service delivery, across a widely geographically dispersed team. A driving license and use of a car are both essential as well as access to public transport. You will be reimbursed for all travel costs.

You will also enjoy working closely with a range of stakeholders (including Police Family Liaison Officers and Senior Investigation Officers within the Major Crime teams) and will have experience in building constructive working relationships, focused on delivering the best service for vulnerable service users. Post: Rough Sleeper Outreach Worker

Reporting to: Outreach Manager

Hours per week: You will be required to work 37.5 hours a week over 5 days on which work could fall between Monday and Sunday, with a minimum of 7.5 hours per day, between 5am and 11pm.

Actual days, start/finish times will be variable and in accordance with the rota which will be available two weeks in advance. You will be required to work bank holidays when on rota and may be required to work additional hours, when authorised and as necessitated by the needs of the business including weekends, public holidays or at other times outside your normal hours of work. This may on occasions include night work.

Contract Term: Temporary to cover Maternity Leave

Overall purpose of the job

Successful applicants will work as part of a developing team to provide support and assistance to referred rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping, assessing needs and facilitating the uptake of homelessness provisions, engagement with specialist support services and journey to independent living. Successful applicants will engage and facilitate rough sleepers or those at risk of rough sleeping, to access basic services and accommodation, providing support along the way to address needs and promote independence.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Outreach Trips to visit Rough Sleepers - Epping, Maldon, Chelmsford, Rochford, Braintree, Uttlesford, Castle Point, Brentwood, and surrounding areas.
• Undertake needs and risk assessments, for those rough sleeping and at risk of rough sleeping.
• Facilitate access to council provisions for homelessness.
• Signpost and facilitate referrals and support service users to access specialist agencies.
• Liaise and plan with other agencies, attending client meetings where appropriate/requested.
• Pre-admission checks for the rough sleeper accommodation.
• Provide transport where necessary to Rough Sleepers to enable access to assessment and support services.
• To facilitate as necessary in the provision of intensive wrap around support of clients brought into the Rough Sleeper emergency accommodation (planning, assessments, and referrals)
• Landlord Recruitment/ Retention to get people into private rented accommodation.
• Facilitate accommodation moves, cleaning and preparation of rooms for Outreach clients.
• Welfare checks for individuals placed in accommodation as required.
• Liaising with faith and community groups in all districts to recruit volunteers to facilitate outreach in the area.
• Updating of all data on systems - Spreadsheets/CRM
• Research and admin as necessary to progress the Outreach services.
• Cover of sick and A/L of other Outreach/Support Team members, where necessary
