We're looking for a Youth Volunteer Activity Worker to support young people aged 8–16 at our local community hall two days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3–7pm).

On Wednesdays, you’ll help deliver fun sports activities including football and boxing, while Thursdays focus on engagement activities like board games, homework help, and providing a safe space for young people to talk about any personal or educational challenges.

This is a great chance to make a real impact, build your skills, and be a positive role model in the community.

Our Summer Camps
Thursday 21st – Sunday 24th August, & Thursday 28th – Sunday 31st August near Romford, Essex.

We are currently looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to join us on one (or both!) of our action-packed residential Summer Camps. On the camp you will be supporting one of our members with a disability to have a holiday they won’t forget.

What you'll do

On the camp you and a fellow co-volunteers will support one of our members with a learning disability or autism for the 4 days. You’ll support and encourage them to take part in lots of exciting activities such as campfires, treasure trails, swimming, nighttime activities, day trips to the seaside and much more. You’ll also help our members with their day-to-day routines and preparing our meals.

Not only is it four days full of fun and games for you and our members, but you will also play a vital part in supporting them to develop their social skills in a day-to-day environment and of course, to enjoy a fantastic holiday!

What you need
You do not need experience. Full disability awareness training will be provided before you begin volunteering with us.
The only requirements we ask of you are enthusiasm, energy and to be open-minded.
Minimum age for volunteers is 18.

How much time?
The Camps run on consecutive weekends for four days each. The dates are Thursday 21st – Sunday 24th August, & Thursday 28th – Sunday 31st August. You can volunteer on one or both weekends.

Both camps start and finish in Tottenham, North London.

We can offer you
We can reimburse your travel expenses for your training days. All meals, transportation and accommodation are provided during the camps.
We'll also provide excellent training before the camp, and lots of helpful support throughout.

We are the Guild Church for Workers in the City of London, building a multilingual community where those in often low-paid or precarious occupations are at the heart of our life and leadership.  As part of our support of workers, we provide free beginner English classes every Saturday morning in partnership with English for Action. The Network of Wellbeing (NOW) is looking for two new Trustees to guide and support the NOW team (above). Trustees play an essential role in any charity and the Network of Wellbeing is no exception. Trustees are the supreme governing body in a charity. They determine its aims, its strategy and oversee all its operations. They are responsible in law for ensuring that it delivers its charitable objects.

Trustees also bring vital skills and experience to the charity’s management. We have reviewed the expertise and roles played by our existing Trustees – and found that they have strengths in business development, charity governance and environmental sustainability, to name but a few. They use their knowledge – and their wisdom – to guide the staff and inform key strategic decisions – and our existing Trustees gain a deep sense of joy and fulfilment from the role they play.

We are now looking for two new Trustees to complement and strengthen our existing Board. We are especially keen to find:

• someone to be our Company Secretary: This person will be responsible for:
  • advising Trustees and the Director on corporate governance and financial management;
  • overseeing the preparation of agendas and the taking of accurate minutes;
  • keeping up to date with regulatory or statutory changes and policies that might affect us;
  • liaising with our auditors, Companies House and the Charities Commission.
• someone to advise on and guide the management of our team of staff and volunteers. This would include:
  • advising Trustees and the Director on all matters relating to the management of staff and volunteers;
  • ensuring we have an up to date suite of policies and procedures;
  • guiding the management of the staff, including on pay, to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Trustees have the opportunity to use their skills and experience to help others and to further a cause they are passionate about – something wellbeing experts argue is key to living a meaningful life.

The commitment is four two-hour meetings per year – three of which meetings which are held online. We also like our Trustees to come and see us annually (in Devon) in person at least once.

The League of Remembrance have supported Armed Forces veterans, and their families for over 100 years. At the outset they supported the widows of those who never returned from the Great War, and, as they developed, extended this support to encompass all veterans who have served with the Forces of the Crown; their widows, spouses, and dependents; retired nursing staff and, more recently, to those suffering from illness or disability in order to aid their recovery. Today, many of their Remembrance Workers deliver varied volunteer services, mainly in Greater London, but with a presence also in Bucks and Essex. This service to the community maintains and improves individual health and wellbeing, offers companionship and social interaction, and provides valuable community support.

The League of Remembrance is seeking to strengthen its Board with the appointment of two new Trustees. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting veterans and those affected by disability, and who can help shape the future of the charity as they continue to grow and evolve.

Role Overview

As a Project Manager (PM), you'll be part of EPAfrica’s Summer Team, which is our in-country leadership group responsible for overseeing and supporting Project Workers (PWs) to deliver meaningful programmes of investment in Kenyan schools. You’ll take on a leadership role that blends operational oversight, pastoral care, and high-level decision-making to ensure the success and safety of our summer projects. This is a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, contribute meaningfully to international development, and support passionate volunteers in-country.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct managerial responsibility for our volunteers in-country, including our Project Workers (PWs) and a “Summer Team” of coordinators. 

• Lead and support a cohort of PWs throughout their placements in partner schools, including:

  • With the support of coordinators, deliver trainings on topics such as project management, effective international development practices, safety and wellbeing, and cultural awareness

  • Provide pastoral support and act as the first point of contact for volunteers in-country

  • Oversee project progress, support PWs in addressing challenges, and ensure investment projects stay aligned with EPAfrica’s mission and theory of change

• Implement our in-country monitoring and evaluation programme, enabling us to effectively plan for and deliver future investments. This includes:

  • Monitoring visits to current & recent investment schools to gauge impact of EPAfrica’s work

  • Assessment visits to potential future EPAfrica participant schools

  • Staying up-to-date research into developments in the Kenyan education system and potential impacts on our work

  • Maintaining relationships with our network of local partners.

• Managing risk and implementing an emergency response to crises.

• Maintain clear and proactive communication with the central UK-based charity team. 

What We’re Looking For

• Strong familiarity with, and demonstrated interest in, EPAfrica’s values and operating model.

• A keen demonstrated interest in grassroots international development is required; previous experience in this setting (volunteering, fieldwork, or prior work experience) preferred.

• Experience managing teams to deliver project-based work, and leading with empathy. 

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. 

• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems under pressure, with good  judgement, and decision-making skills.

• Willingness to operate in a challenging, fast-paced environment, taking accountability for team decisions.

• Experience as a Project Worker or previous Summer Team involvement preferred.

This opportunity involves overseeing Fuel Poverty Action’s fundraising plans and strategy, reaching out to donors and promoting our vital campaigns through grant bids to help end fuel poverty in the UK.

• Help to maintain the safety, security, and wellbeing of the Kenya-based team, working within the charity’s risk guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong familiarity with, and demonstrated interest in, EPAfrica’s values and operating model.

• A demonstrated interest in grassroots international development is required; previous experience in this setting (volunteering, fieldwork, or prior work experience) preferred.

• Experience being a part of teams delivering project-based work, and leading with empathy. 

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. 

• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems under pressure.

• Willingness to operate in a challenging, fast-paced environment and to be involved in making decisions which affect the wider team.

• Experience as a Project Worker or previous Summer Team involvement preferred – but alternatively, relevant professional or volunteering experience in a similar context.
