Safeguarding Adviser 

The Diocese are seeking to employ an Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser and Cathedral Safeguarding Officer.  This is a dual-role post with time divided between the Chichester DBF and the Cathedral with the post holder being a member of the established Diocesan Safeguarding Team for both roles.

Location: Hove/Chichester/Hybrid 

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week (flexi time)

Salary: £39,887 per annum

About the Role

You will work with colleagues in the Diocesan Safeguarding Team (DST) to manage safeguarding casework and promote best safeguarding practice across the Diocese. You will ensure that all safeguarding casework is managed according to the Safeguarding Code of Practice, alongside the Sussex Child Protection and Safeguarding Adults Procedures and statutory guidance.

As the Cathedral Safeguarding Officer you will work with the Dean, along with staff, volunteers, congregation members and others to ensure that all participants in Cathedral life are able to fulfil their safeguarding responsibilities, and that the safeguarding culture is appropriately nurtured and resourced in line with the Church of England’s National Safeguarding Standards.

The principal duties include:  

• Providing support and advice to colleagues in the Diocese, Cathedral and parishes to help them understand their safeguarding duties regarding children, young people and vulnerable adults.

• Managing safeguarding cases in line with the Church of England Code of Practice.

• Working closely with statutory agencies such as the Police, Children and Adult Service and Probation services.

• Overseeing day-to-day safeguarding administration and safeguarding training at the Cathedral.

About You

The ideal candidate will:  

• Have significant experience of safeguarding casework with a statutory safeguarding agency, with substantial practice skills in the areas of safeguarding and protecting children and/or vulnerable adults.

• Have the ability to translate this knowledge from the statutory to the non-statutory field, assisting volunteers with little or no safeguarding background to understand the issues and be confident in their practice.

• Show evidence of the ability to apply good safeguarding practise in a way that delivers positive outcomes for children and vulnerable adults. 

• Be sympathetic towards the mission of the Church, although do not themselves need to have a faith.

We are recruiting for two positions into the Workplace Projects department. These positions sit within their LCR (Lifecycle Replacement) and CRP (Client Requested Projects), supporting project managers by monitoring project progress and providing insightful management information to allow for accurate forecasting against budgets.

The responsibilities of the Assistant Finance Business Partner(s) will include:

• Producing management accounts for relevant budget holders and contributing to GPA's client budget process
• Partnering with the LCR and Net Zero / CRP programme managers and external partners to ensure that all expenditure has been accurately assessed based on project completion and integrity is applied
• That regular reconciliations and sampling of the project accounts are completed including timely project closure assessments
• Provide advice on financial treatment of project costs to ensure that all items are correctly assessed for capitalisation, and that the treatment of abortive costs and feasibility works are appropriately treated as RDEL, while being allocated to the correct projects
• Attendance at monthly stakeholder meetings to support the management of projects, supply chain and client relationships
• Supporting any client discussions as required to ensure recovery of billed amounts, keeping accrued income minimal and controlled
• Building a network internally with other finance teams to ensure smooth transition of data and knowledge between interlinked processes, and contributing as part of the wider finance team
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations including accruals and prepayments
• Take ownership of key financial processes, including the preparation and processing of journals, while supporting both internal and external audits.
• Play a proactive role in facilitating forecasting and reporting activities, and use your analytical skills to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the financial data to inform strategic decision-making.

Key Skills & Experience 

• CCAB or equivalent part-qualified or finalist-level candidates required, full qualification desirable.

The requirement

The Innovation Fund & Project Manager will join our team to run our innovation fund and to manage projects designed and created by BDF staff members to improve the lives of disabled people in society more widely.

The Innovation Fund & Project Manager will also work across teams to help design and manage the creation of various new products and services. In addition, they will work closely with the CEO to scope out and deliver a specific project to increase the number of disabled people who are Non-Executive Directors and advisers to boards.

This is a newly created role within the team which will oversee acquisition and new product development.

In this role you’ll take ownership of planning, implementing and reporting on fully integrated acquisition campaigns across a range of channels including DRTV, Digital, Telephone, SMS and OOH.

You’ll work closely with teams from across the organisation and our media agency to ensure a truly integrated, collaborative approach. Together with the team, you’ll identify opportunities, apply learnings from past campaigns, and enhance future performance.

You’ll also be integral to driving forward new product development to acquire new regular givers. Leading on testing across the Acquisition team, you’ll innovate to drive the lowest attrition, best ROI and strongest lifetime value. What we want from you

Aside from excellent knowledge and experience of working in a direct marketing environment managing fully integrated campaigns, you’ll also have strong digital campaign management experience, ideally gained from a fundraising environment. You’ll have experience in developing and implementing effective testing strategies and ideally also have experience in developing new marketing or fundraising products.

You’ll possess first class communication skills; a strong team ethic and you will be at ease working with and influencing key internal and external stakeholders at all levels. The FIGO Fistula Surgery Training Initiative (FSTI) project has been in existence for 10 years and in that time has become recognised as a key global project, instrumental in delivering capacity building and improved healthcare outcomes for women, with an emphasis on the global south. After 10 years the senior project manager has stepped down and FIGO are seeking to use this as an opportunity to review the project delivery model.

The Interim Senior Project Manager role will lead the FIGO Fistula Project on an interim basis and be responsible for the ongoing delivery of the project during that period. • Maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with IAA registration or similar professional body, e.g SRA.
• Keep up to date at all times with changes in the law by reading and attending training events relating to asylum and immigration.
• To maintain accurate and detailed case records of clients for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval and statistical monitoring, using Advice Pro as appropriate and as required by management.
• Advocate on behalf of clients by telephone, letter and email with appropriate agencies.
• Produce reports to meet funder’s and LRMN requirements.
• Work closely with the Immigration Manager and/or external evaluator in gathering data and information to produce accurate monitoring and evaluation reports.
• To assist the LRMN in liaising with its partners, funders and to provide statistical information and updates as required.
• Work closely with the Immigration Manager in reviewing files and ensure that corrective actions are undertaken.

• Provide regular supervision to Immigration volunteers.
• Allocate immigration tasks appropriate volunteers’ knowledge and skills.
• Keep records of supervision meetings with immigration volunteers.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead marketing and communications activity across fundraising and retail, supporting the growth and visibility of our services.
 
You'll be working within our passionate Income Generation team, playing a key role in developing high-impact campaigns that drive income, brand awareness and supporter engagement across North Yorkshire.
 
What you’ll be doing:
·       Create and deliver compelling, data-driven marketing campaigns across digital, print, social and PR.
·       Develop content and multi-media assets to support donor engagement, fundraising campaigns and events.
·       Collaborate with fundraising, retail and communications teams to align messaging and strategy.
·       Manage marketing budgets and line-manage the Marketing Officer and volunteers.

The responsibilities of the Financial Accountant will include:

• Support the production of the GPA Annual Report and Accounts including provision of consolidation returns for Cabinet Office departmental accounts and Whole of Government Accounts
• Maintain and analyse accurate accounting records including preparation and monitoring of Statement of Financial Position reconciliations and accrual and other journals
• Monitor the effectiveness of key controls including those operated by outsourced service providers

· Delivering budgets and forecasts for each client, property and tenancy, using complex data from the MRI Horizon general ledger and other systems, Hyperion and Excel tools to provide accurate and meaningful financial information

· Being accountable for financial control over property services accounting, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction by providing accurate forecasting, explanations and billing

· Maintaining a focus on process improvement, including planning and establishing new systems and processes for quarterly financial reporting to ensure clients understand their costs and bills, delivering an ongoing service that meets and exceeds expectations

· Being the key liaison between senior finance and property staff for client meetings, involving being acutely aware of the customers’ needs and acting upon them, and being proactive in problem solving and finding solutions

· Leading the service delivery to clients alongside management accountants and other colleagues, supporting the growth of the GPA, and matching resources to client demand

· Manage due diligence exercises on estate-related financial information provided by the client and interrogate to identify material financial risks to GPA and ensure correct account treatments are applied.

Key Skills & Experience

· Be proficient in Microsoft Excel skills and able to manipulate complex data sets.

· Strong attention to detail and ability to analyse and interpret significant amounts of financial data

· Ideally, have experience in client finance, including reporting to clients, managing systems and processes, working in partnership with clients to deliver results

· Experience with property management systems such as MRI Horizon, Yardi Voyager, or similar systems, in addition to Excel and PowerBI (or similar) for financial reporting is desirable

· Ideally have experience in the property industry within medium to large organisations where customer service is a priority
