Our houses 22 young families in locations across the city in low and medium supported accommodation. As a team member, you will take an assets-based approach, working with parents and their children in their homes and the community to provide focussed family and housing support which improves parenting capacity, increases the aspirations and motivations of families to take up education, employment and training opportunities and improves family function with children feeling more secure and parents confident in their parenting abilities. We are a small friendly team consisting of a Project Manager, Deputy Project Manager and 3 Project Support Workers.
We are looking for a Supported Housing Support Worker to join our Brighton Young Families team. Main areas of responsibilities are:
Coaching and Engagement
- Coach an agreed number of young parents to articulate and achieve their aspirations and ambitions and acquire the skills they need to live independent and fulfilling lives with their children
- Work proactively, creatively, and effectively with young parents to help them to develop a consistent and positive approach to parenting aimed at addressing behaviours and overcoming challenges
- To promote and facilitate parental understanding of a child’s needs and to support parents to provide an appropriate environment in which children feel safe, and which encourages the development of both the child’s and parents’ self-esteem and resilience
- Coach young parents to develop strong networks and connections outside of the service, which will sustain them once they move on. Encourage and proactively assist in the development of skills needed to successfully live, learn, and work.
General:
- Contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations
- Participate in relevant continuing professional development and utilise Reflective Practice Supervision as part of leading psychologically informed practice

Experience and Knowledge:
- Experienced in working directly with young parents aged 16-21 years old and able to engage and relate well to this age group and their children
- Experience of working with children
- Competent understanding of the key safeguarding and health risks, challenges and opportunities for young parents and their children
- Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of statutory and voluntary services and experience of liaising with them
- Experienced in making informed assessments of need and risks and to formulate appropriate plans, including Early Help Assessments and where appropriate acting as Lead Professional
- Good knowledge of child development, particularly that of new-born babies and its influence on parent/child relationship in every stage of a child’s development. Proven experience in safeguarding young children and vulnerable adults.
Skills and Abilities:
- Able to inspire and work proactively with young parents to develop their talents.
- Able to build strong relationships with other professionals in other organisations.
- A strong team player who can support and challenge colleagues appropriately.
- Uses a range of methods for persuasion and achieving positive results with young families.
- Excellent record keeping and report writing. There is a strong element around data recording using a variety of data management systems, we require staff who are confident in their ability to adapt easily to these systems.
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office and data management systems such as B-Think or INFORM.
- Qualifications and Training Educated to GCSE/NVQ Level 2 in relevant subjects, or equivalent through relevant CPD training/experience relating to housing, support work, and/or working with young people or adults at risk Evidence of CPD relating to housing, support work and/or working with young people or vulnerable adults

In accordance with the Christian ethos and values of the Boaz Trust, the Support Worker is responsible for providing support for people who have been refused asylum and living in Boaz accommodation:
- To provide practical and emotional support to people (primarily women) who have had their asylum claims refused, and who are living in Boaz accommodation. Supporting them from their initial point of contact through their 12 months with Boaz, until the time when they move on.
- To ensure that people accommodated by Boaz Trust have access to services enabling them to meet their basic needs as well as supporting them to access further health, legal and specialist services as appropriate.
- To provide housing Support in all of our properties for people who have been refused asylum (men and women). This will include cleaning and preparing rooms for new people to move into, facilitating monthly house meetings and supporting people to keep the houses in a good condition, and delivering monthly cleaning supplies to the houses.
- To play a supportive and collaborative role working alongside the wider staff team.

Our services in Doncaster, South Yorkshire provide excellent care and support to individuals with a range of support needs, including learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs. As a Senior Support Worker, you will work alongside the Team Leader to assist with the coordination and delivery of high-quality outcome-focused, person centred support to tenants. You will be positive about supporting people to increase their independence and ensure that they are at the centre of all decisions made about their lives.
Your role will include:
- Developing and leading the team to enable the tenants to have a high quality of life, and to be important and valued members of the local community
- Be responsible for ensuring personal, practical, emotional and social support is delivered at all times
- Assisting our Team Leaders and Registered Manager in ensuring all residents receive the highest quality and care and support
Your full-time hours will be worked flexibly according to the needs of the service including daytimes, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
At least two years’ experience in providing care and support to people with a range of complex support needs is essential for this role. As Senior Support Worker, compassion, motivation, diligence and an ability to empathise with individuals is also essential.
You must be warm, well organised, and conscientious and demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. You will be required to work on a rota, undertaking early, late and weekend duties as required.

We are currently looking to recruit an energetic, person-centred Relief Support Worker in the Darlington area to provide the highest standards of care to our service users with support needs.
Our services provide care and support to individuals with a range of support needs including learning disabilities. We have a strong history of helping individuals with a wide range of needs to live independent and fulfilling lives, ensuring that our service users enjoy opportunities for personal development and engaging within their local communities. You will need to work flexibly with the upmost positive regard for the individuals we support and you will be paid on a weekly basis.
Relief Support Worker Duties:
- Provide person-centred support to our service users on a flexible relief basis as and when required
- To assist service users in the administration and monitoring of prescribed medication in accordance with the Scheme’s Medication Policy.
- To enable service users to become as independent as possible and to grow in confidence, competence and personal effectiveness in areas such as: personal care, social skills/relationships, daily living skills and many more.
- Support service users in maintaining the safety, security and comfort of their homes.
- To promote the self-esteem, happiness and emotional health of service users.
12 months experience is essential for this role is essential and an understanding of positive behaviour support is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
