We have an exciting opportunity to join MASH’s staff team. We are looking for a Homeless Outreach Worker to join the team at MASH and provide support to women in Manchester. This role is part time at 21 hours per week and will include two night-time outreach shifts per week driving the MASH van.

Purpose of the role

Using a gender and trauma-informed approach, the Homeless Outreach Worker will deliver two sessions of street outreach each week. This will involve driving and taking the MASH mobile vehicle into areas of Manchester where women are engaged in sex work on the street. The role involves delivering a harm reduction approach to offer a quality service to women to improve health, housing and safety outcomes. This will be delivered with a respectful and non-judgemental approach assisting women to reduce harmful behaviours and improving access to a range of services to improve their outcomes.

We are looking for a Refuge Worker to work within our culturally specific refuge to provide specialist, high-quality support to women and children escaping domestic abuse. Based in Lambeth, London, this role involves delivering practical and emotional support to survivors, ensuring their safety, and helping them rebuild their lives. As a Refuge Worker, you will support women through crisis, providing keywork sessions, safety planning, and advocacy. This role is part of an ambitious national initiative called the Accelerating Reform Fund (ARF), funded by the Department for Health and Social Care to support innovation and positive change in adult social care. As part of the evaluation of this programme, we are recruiting Peer Researchers to gather real-life stories from people across Greater Manchester about their experiences with care and support services. These stories will help improve how services are designed and delivered, particularly in two areas:

• Improving the identification and support for unpaid carers throughout the hospital discharge process;

• Shared Lives respite options for unpaid carers, including day support.

This role will be part of a small team of Peer Researchers, all of whom bring valuable insight from their own experiences and will work closely with the Lived Experience Coordinator to gather and reflect the diverse voices and stories of people across Greater Manchester.
 

Role Purpose

As a Peer Researcher, your role is to listen, capture, learn, and share. You will use your lived experience and connection to your community to gather stories from others, especially those who may feel overlooked or unheard.

You don’t need formal qualifications or previous experience in research as you’ll receive full training – you just need a genuine interest in people, the ability to listen, and a commitment to positive change.

By helping us understand what care and support really feels like on the ground, you’ll directly contribute to evaluating how well the ARF projects are meeting people’s needs – and what should be done differently going forward.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a community research project by gathering people’s real experiences of care and support across Greater Manchester through one-to-one conversations, interviews, or group storytelling sessions.

• Record stories using approaches such as note taking, Dictaphone or video within an ethical and trauma-informed framework.

• Attend training and team meetings to build skills in community research, consent, safeguarding, and storytelling.

• Work collaboratively with the Lived Experience Coordinator and other Peer Researchers to curate the stories, reflect on emerging themes and contribute to the overall evaluation of the ARF programme.

• Help develop and share research findings in meaningful ways – such as reports, events, or creative formats – to influence local decision-making and service improvement.
 

Other details

This is a sessional (casual) role, which means you are not employed on a fixed contract or guaranteed number of hours, nor are you entitled to sick pay or other employee related benefits. Instead, we will agree with you an approximate number of hours and tasks based on your availability, personal circumstances and the needs of the project. This is a hybrid full-time role (typically 2 days on-site), 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday based in SW London with occasional travel to another office (around once a month).  The other office is about 20  minutes from Clapham or London Bridge.

My client requires someone who has the experience of supporting senior management on governance and organisational matters, ideally in a science-based working environment as you will be taking minutes from science meetings, so could prove challenging without that understanding.

We are recruiting for Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.  This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Derby to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge and outreach services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes.

Our service provision in Derby includes culturally specific service for South Asian women as well as a specialist multiple disadvantage support worker who support survivors facing enhanced needs.

The post holder will provide line management and support to the accommodation based and the outreach service staff. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. You will also ensure that all service users in refuges and the outreach service always receive a high-quality support service in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures.

The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors.

Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting.  In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors.  

You will have knowledge of relevant criminal and civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.   

As member of the management team, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call management service.

The service manager will be responsible for ensuring that contractual and other funding requirements are met fully, this includes ensuring that the services operate within the allocated budget and that Refuge’s high-quality standards are maintained. The role may involve visiting potential sites and contributing to the establishment of new services in conjunction with the development team.

The job involves working closely with staff that support survivors and their children who are experiencing domestic abuse and other gender-based violence.

We are looking for a Housing Mobile Night Worker to provide floating support to our teams in high support 24-hour projects as well as medium support and transitional housing units to ensure that our properties are safe, secure, and welcoming through the night.

You will be based at Lansworth House and will support the static night worker there during the night as well as undertaking your mobile duties across Brighton, Hove and Worthing.

Working on site you will be responsible for ensuring the service is safe by keeping clear records of night time activity within the building. You will regularly complete building checks and monitor CCTV upkeeping health and safety regulations in accordance with YMCA DLG's policies and procedures.  You will work to prevent any anti-social behaviour from impacting our neighbours and other residents. You will work alongside other support staff to maximise the wellbeing of residents by completing one to one interventions with young people who may be experiencing mental health crisis and/or who may need medical assistance.

This is a mobile role, requiring all applicants to have a full valid, UK Driving Licence. You will also be lone working as part of the role, so you will need to be comfortable with decision making and following procedures.

This is a dynamic and varied role; you will be passionate about being involved in the support and growth of young people.

Ideally you will have experience working with young people, those considered vulnerable or with multiple and complex needs along with being able to demonstrate a real passion for wanting to work with young people. You will have an understanding of the needs of single homeless clients aged 16-25 and the ability to engage, motivate and inspire, with a strong commitment to changing the life of others for the better. You will already have clear verbal and written communication skills, good IT and keyboard skills and the ability to self-motivate. You will be an effective communicator who is able to deliver robust, clear handovers and build strong relationships with other members of your team. In addition, you will have the ability to de-escalate volatile situations and manage challenging behaviour appropriately.

Projects supports women in the criminal justice system, in healthcare settings, and throughout the community, offering support to women and children experiencing domestic violence. Alongside this, we also have colleagues offering training and consultancy to businesses and health and social care professionals alike, raising awareness on gender based violence issues.

  This role will assist the refuge manager in the day-to-day running of the refuge, developing and delivering a front line service offering support, advice and guidance to women and their children living in the refuge.
