Stories and Media Officer
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced storyteller to show the impact of live music in healthcare through the voices of the charity’s diverse community. This could be people who have experienced the live music, their family members, health and care staff, musicians or other stakeholders.
The Stories and Media Officer will be skilled at telling stories in different ways for a variety of audiences and channels. They will demonstrate human connection and the power of music to create special moments and memories.
This is a remote, part-time role, offering some amazing benefits!
Position: Stories and Media Officer
Location: Remote (UK Wide)
Hours: Part time, 22.5 to 26 hours per week
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 pro rata, per annum

The Role
You will build trust with people the charity is sharing a story on behalf of and foster lasting relationships. You will manage media contacts, seeking out relevant opportunities in the press and work with partners on features.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead on storytelling - writing effective and powerful stories to meet the needs of different functions, including fundraising materials, direct marketing, social media, sector reports and events, press opportunities, website features and publications.
- Attend live music experiences to conduct interviews and facilitate photography/filming etc
- Proactively identify and propose opportunities where stories can support and amplify the work of the charity, increasing awareness and supporting fundraising and impact reporting.
- Work within the communications team to facilitate social media and video content
- Manage a database of stories, case studies and quotes
About You
You will have experience of working across organisations to gather powerful and impactful stories and of building and maintaining relationships with different stakeholders. You will have a proven track record of successfully selling stories into local media and of managing stories in a database, including measuring and reporting on campaign performance.

About the Organisation
The charity seeks to share joy through live music with people receiving care or treatment in healthcare settings across the UK, including those who are vulnerable, the elderly, those with dementia and in critical care.
Skilled musicians are carefully selected through a process of audition. About the role
This is a great opportunity to work within the Stories team at Shelter, recruiting people from within relevant services and outside the organisation to share their experiences to support Shelter’s fundraising, media, services, campaigning, research and brand work. As well as making contact with people willing to share their stories, you’ll be able to listen to someone’s experience and write a summary of their story. The traineeship lasts 15 months and you will receive personalised training and support to help remove some of the barriers that may have prevented you from getting meaningful employment. Once your traineeship is complete, we will support you in securing further employment in the future.
About you
We are looking for people who have lived experience of homelessness/bad housing and overcoming personal challenges and who are passionate about using their own life experiences to help make positive change for others. Good communication skills and the ability to make people feel heard will also be essential. Basic computer skills, e.g. word processing, the internet and email would be useful, but support can be provided. Above all, we need people with a real desire to develop personally and learn new skills.

Two Associate Board Member
Associate roles are designed for customers with no or limited experience of board work, in order to develop individuals in this area – although individuals should still be committed to our client's values and be willing/able to contribute effectively. For one of the Associate roles, they are looking for someone with operational or strategic experience in IT, in particular cyber security experience. This person would ideally be working toward CISSP or CISM certification – or have demonstrable experience. For the other role, your commitment and attitude are the most important attributes we are looking for.
All applicants should be enthusiastic team players who share their CLEAR values, have a passion for housing and social care, and are looking for an Associate Board Member role with a socially conscious Housing Association.
You will work as part of a team and be collectively responsible for ensuring the success of our client, and its compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations.
Finally, you will accept the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Board Membership including meeting the fit and proper persons test under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
About You
You will be enthusiastic about their aims, have excellent communication skills and a clear understanding of the issues facing the Housing and Care sectors; along with a strong commitment and empathy with their values and objectives.
You will be a values-driven person with an understanding of the needs of diverse communities, including people with disabilities and those who are socially disadvantaged.
You will demonstrate sound independent judgement and have the ability to work effectively in a team.
You will have the flexibility to attend and participate in a minimum of eight daytime or evening meetings per year, and development activities such as induction, training and performance review sessions, or events, as reasonably required.
You will be a customer of our client, and, for one of the roles, you will have IT experience.

The Role
Global Greengrants Fund UK is looking to hire an energetic and passionate individual who will play a key role in collaborating across teams to support finance and grantmaking. They are responsible for the smooth running of all transactional processes for grants, payments, reconciliations, and financial reporting. They will also lead on any applicable system enhancements thus offering a critical and wide-ranging systems support role for the grantmaking charity. They will ensure that financial transactions are properly allocated, recorded, and maintained and assist in the preparation of audit data as well as supporting project reporting to aid in the preparation of the annual statutory audit and project reports.
As part of the finance and operations team, they will join a growing team currently staffed by four members in the UK. In the present accountability structures, the Finance and Grants Officer, GGF UK is line managed by the Director of Finance and Operations, GGF UK while building and working in more collaborative ways.
The Candidate Profile
The successful applicant will have significant relevant experience in a similar role in a charitable, environmental, development, social justice, feminist, gender, human rights, and/or grantmaking organisation. They demonstrate knowledge and experience in charity/nonprofit grant accounting/financial issues and dealing with both financial and grant information and processes, understand accounting principles, and have knowledge of accounting, grantmaking, and budgeting processes. They have cash management, banking, and payment experiences. They demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills, and the ability to ensure the accuracy of work and demonstrate precise attention to detail. They will have the skills to give, receive, and work with feedback constructively. They also thrive in a virtual environment, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions. Multiple language skills would be ideal, while English fluency is a must.
