About Lepra

Lepra is dedicated to addressing leprosy and lymphatic filariasis (LF) and their consequences through direct support, advocacy, and the promotion of inclusive communities. We work in Bangladesh and in India, through our sister organisation, LEPRA Society. Job Context

Our new Global Strategy introduces some new approaches and priorities to our work, including: our first ever global Theory of Change (ToC), the most detailed Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) approach ever, and a sub-strategy dedicated to research, innovation and technology: the Global Research, Innovation and Technology Strategy (GRITS). Job Purpose

We are looking for a Community and Challenge Events Fundraiser to create and deliver an engaging programme of mass participation and community fundraising activities to meet agreed, ambitious targets, enhancing the support base and driving income.

Job Purpose  

Working across fundraising and communications you will develop and manage your own portfolio of existing Trusts and Foundations, community and individual donors, and research and prioritise new opportunities ensuring high quality stewardship to secure ongoing support. This role will focus on producing high-quality applications and reports to funders and by providing excellent account management and cross-team collaboration.  You will play a vital role in communicating our work through compelling positive case studies, stories, impacts, and images, to raise our profile and motivate people to give via supporting digital campaigns, website and social media channels. Responsibilities  

Trust Fundraising  

• Develop, manage, and maintain a trust and foundations fundraising portfolio with a clear, scheduled pipeline of funding applications, coordinating opportunities and team resources to meet targets.

• Cultivate strong working relationships with current and new trust and foundations, proactively seeking meetings, ensuring excellent relationship management.

• Collaborate with colleagues to create compelling proposals and reports.

• Work with monitoring and finance colleagues to inform impact and budgetary needs, ensuring timely reporting to donors in line with their grant conditions.

• Build resilient, long-term relationships with identified supporters, keeping them well-informed about events, campaigns, projects, and the charity itself, to foster a strong sense of belonging to Village Water, ensuring excellent stewardship.

• Use multiple research methods and communication channels to build and manage a prospective donor pipeline.

• Research and write applications to grant-making trusts, targeting an amount in line with Village Water's annual budget, with an emphasis on securing unrestricted funds where possible.

• Ensure all information on your portfolio of donors is well stewarded, recorded, and actioned in Village Water's database.

• Develop ad-hoc events and campaigns both in person and via Zoom, recruiting and managing volunteers where necessary.

• Send personalised thank-you communications and updates to individual supporters, manage ongoing engagement with regular donors, and oversee the distribution of physical milestone cards to celebrate significant achievements.

Communications:

• Create and curate a calendar of multimedia content to increase engagement and audience reach through digital and traditional marketing materials, social media posts, e-newsletters, and our website.

• Support the development and management of Village Water’s website, ensuring content and architecture are up to date, consistent, and engagingly showcase our work, current campaigns, news stories and calls to action.

• Lead on the development of paid for digital campaigns including budgeting, A/B testing, asset creation, copywriting, and reporting.

• Create a range of digital graphics and assets, including animations, images, videos, banners, and infographics.

• Design printed marketing items - such as reports, leaflets, flyers, banners, and signage.

• Develop a timeline for the ‘comms hub’ remote capacity building for the local partners in Zambia and Mozambique to train in specific comms activities, gather material and share learning.

General   

• Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, external suppliers, and local partners to advance organisational goals. 

• Attend networking events and build relationships that benefit Village Water. 

• Participate in and report during weekly team meetings and, when necessary, at Trustee meetings.

Skills and experience: 

• Demonstrable success in securing grants, including awards between £20-£100k. 

• Confident and effective communicator with excellent presentation skills, able to engage with a range of supporters in groups, individually, face-to-face, and remotely. 

• Proven experience in writing compelling cases for support and supporter updates that inspire and persuade donors. 

• Experience with Canva, Adobe, Salesforce desirable. 

• Ability to develop, analyse, and interpret budgets and financial information.

Your role will involve using your skills to deliver valuable insights through effective information gathering, detailed analysis, and comprehensive reporting. You will work on both routine and ad-hoc projects, supporting the team in responding to major events within the fire and rescue sector.

Key responsibilities of a Research & Insight Analyst:

Following the processes and policies set out in the A&I team’s terms of reference document, to ensure high quality, consistent approaches to all work.

Designing and executing information gathering exercises, ensuring that they are clear, easy to understand and will yield the information required to produce the identified output.

Information gathering methods primarily include designing online survey tools and question sets but can also include workshops, interviews and focus groups.

Ensuring the validation and quality assurance of any information gathered to ensure that all insights gathered are accurate and statistically significant.

Interpreting findings and drawing meaningful conclusions using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques.

Producing clear, concise and well-structured outputs, utilising visualisations to enhance understanding and engagement when presenting to stakeholders. These outputs could be developed using MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI or similar.

Ensuring the Strategic Improvement Model (SIM) is kept up to date by reviewing and analysing reports about UK FRSs (from the inspectorate (HMICFRS), major inquiry reports, independently commissioned reports and other sources.

Supporting the work of the NFCC Organisational Learning team and ACER (Academic, Collaboration, Evaluation and Research) Group

Familiarity with research methodologies and outputs, such as literature reviews, and using them to identify trends, gaps, and best practices

Assisting as required when the A&I team is commissioned to support work related to major events or incidents

Assisting as required with team administrative duties

The successful candidate will have:

Experience working as a research analyst, or equivalent

Excellent qualitative research skills, including survey question design, and thematic analysis.

Excellent presentation skills with the ability to design and develop engaging outputs

Good numerical skills with the ability to spot trends and anomalies

Good MS Excel skills (including Pivot tables and charts, complex formatting and formulas)

Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able work within a team working solely from home

Some experience of data visualisation tools such as PowerBI would be beneficial

Experience working with academia and/or on academic research would be beneficial

Role Overview:
The Volunteer Coordinator for WeSwim is a key role responsible for recruiting and onboarding volunteers to support all our activities and events, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience for all. This role also supports the setup of new WeSwim clubs in London, raising profile in new areas and developing relationships with new stakeholders to promote the organisation. This position requires a strategic person with excellent marketing, communication and project management skills. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Volunteer recruitment & training: Develop and implement a marketing and outreach plan to  to attract new volunteers. Create marketing materials to advertise volunteer opportunities & use data to inform recruitment activity. Manage onboarding of volunteers including interviews, DBS and references. Organise and run induction sessions for new volunteers.
• Volunteer management & support: Maintain an up-to-date database of volunteers, including contact information, availability, and skills. Schedule and assign volunteers to sessions based on their availability & monitor attendance. Serve as the main point of contact for all volunteers, addressing enquiries and resolving any issues. Work with Club Committees (lead volunteers) to foster a positive and inclusive environment for volunteers, encouraging teamwork and community spirit.
• Marketing & Communications: Develop social media marketing and email communications to support recruitment and retention of volunteers in line with strategy.
• Setup of new swimming clubs: Scope & contact future pool partners, develop and deliver engagement plans to recruit new volunteers and swimmers to attend the club when it opens in partnership with WeSwim team. 
• Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders including: local authorities, community organisations, disability charities & sports clubs. Represent WeSwim at community events, meetings, and public engagements. Develop and implement strategies to increase the club’s visibility and reputation in the community.

This role is remote with travel across London. The post holder should be London based.

People’s Economy aims to build the agency and power of people facing injustice and working for social change so that they have the expertise, capabilities and resources to develop their own analysis of how the economic system is a root cause of the injustice they face, develop strategies to change it and then take action with others. Our vision is for a world with economies that meet the needs and priorities of people currently experiencing economic injustice.

The Movement Collaboration Lead or Senior Movement Collaboration Lead (depending on experience) will work closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team to lead the development and delivery of an exciting emerging programme of work building collaboration for economic system change between grassroots groups and new economy organisations. 

We are looking for people who are: passionate about addressing economic injustice, are excited about the role of collaboration in creating systems change and capable of creating partnerships and strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

The first twelve months of this programme will take an action inquiry approach to facilitate a mixed group of new economy organisations and grassroots groups through a collaborative process that will develop shared knowledge and practice about  how we  can effectively and equitably collaborate on economic systems change work through practical experiments, facilitated dialogue and collaborative research.

The role will involve responsibilities for project managing and delivering this work including programme development and delivery, developing partnerships, changemaker recruitment and support, conducting desk research and interviews, managing and running events, supporting project related fundraising, conducting project learning and evaluation and writing a learning report about the project. 

Following this first year we plan to scale work on supporting collaboration between grassroots groups and new economy organisations, subject to funding we hope this could become a permanent role.

All programme roles in the People’s Economy team support work across the programme team and we see a postholder likely working on the Action Inquiry for 0.4 FTE and supporting other work strands depending on their relevant skills, experiences and interests for 0.2 FTE.

Project Development

• Working closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team, lead the translation of existing strategic thinking, planning and relationship building into a project plan.
• Working closely with the Programme Director and the Programme Team, contribute to business planning and fundraising for future development of the action inquiry beyond the first year.
• Working closely with Programme Director lead outreach and relationship building with new economy organisations, funders and other relevant stakeholders.
• Working closely with the Head of Community, lead outreach and relationship building with changemakers and grassroots groups for the action inquiry.
• Working closely with the Programme Director, develop a plan for learning and evaluation of the project.

Project Delivery

• Working closely with the Programme Team, coordinate the delivery of the action inquiry.
• Lead on organising the logistics and resources required to effectively deliver the action inquiry 
• Working closely with the Programme Team, recruit and onboard changemakers to the project
• With support from the Head of Training, contribute to the delivery of learning and skills sessions as part of the inquiry
• Manage and execute the delivery of events as part of the action inquiry
• Maintain relationships with changemakers while they are involved in the project and act as a key point of contact
• Working closely with the Programme Team, coordinate the monitoring, evaluation and learning of the project

About the Council
The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in the optical professions.  The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians).  At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary. 

The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders. 

Remuneration and time commitment

Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses) which is linked in the candidate pack.  The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.

The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at 10 Old Bailey, London, EC4M 7NG. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.
