From our ‘Labour and Civil Society Summit’ in Westminster with Sir Keir Starmer, to our ‘Diversity in charity leadership webinar’ with the Charity Commission, to our ‘Reversing the decline in children's mental health’ event chaired by Channel 4’s Cathy Newman, PBE events are high profile, high impact and varied. We are looking for someone who is passionate about using the power of events to bring people together to challenge, influence and engage on the issues our audiences care about. You will create and lead an exciting events strategy, and deliver a wide range of events, collaborating with senior staff, trustees, external organisations.

Main duties and responsibilities

Leading PBE’s public events strategy and delivery

• Work with our Head of Communications and senior team to design and implement an events strategy as part of the communications and fundraising strategies.
• Event strategy and programme planning: drawing on expertise of PBE colleagues, trustees and relevant stakeholders to plan, market and deliver an engaging and innovative programme of online and in person events to budget and deadlines.
• Event design, delivery and follow-up: planning and managing operational delivery.
• Responsibility for logistics of events including guestlist development, speaker invitations and stewardship, ticketing, internal briefings, contractors, venue liaison, event marketing and follow up.
• Active communications with speakers and attendees before and after events to maximise impact.
• Stakeholder engagement with events: Researching and drawing on advice from colleagues on interesting, engaging and diverse speakers relevant to PBE’s strategy, and drawing on PBE’s research and analysis projects as well as the wider media landscape to actively identify opportunities and agendas for future events.
• Supporting the organisation of joint events with charities and social sector organisations, working as part of a small and dynamic communications team to maximise the impact and visibility of PBE’s projects and publications externally, and the organisation of private research roundtables.

Supporting development and income generation

• Work with the Director of Development to ensure our events programme supports PBE’s fundraising approach by engaging funders, helping to identify new business opportunities, and contributing to funding applications. 
• Working with the Development team to manage the design and delivery of fundraising and stewardship events including small private dinners, roundtables, panel sessions in person and online.
• Collaboration with the Development Director to identify mission-related commercial opportunities from our events, such as sponsorship.

Delivering effective communications

• Collaborate with wider communications team to deliver greater reach and impact for PBE through our multi-channel communications strategy.
• Support communications colleagues to create and deliver compelling digital communications to support our events programme
• Managing data, reporting and insight to improve our events: Maintenance of all records of activity in the CRM Salesforce, and liaison with the Head of Systems and our Operations Team to improve systems and processes.
• Perform additional duties as required to ensure the smooth running of PBE and the communications team.

About you

The role would suit candidates from an events agency or in-house events/communications background, able to work operationally and strategically, working with and advising senior staff internally and externally.

Candidates should be able to point to a strong track-record of creating and delivering events and stakeholder engagement, with sufficient experience to lead and co-ordinate a diverse programme of in person and online events to reach policymakers and the wider social sector.

Skills/Competencies

Ideal characteristics include:

• Event strategy, programme planning and operational delivery and management of in person and online events.
• Creativity, innovation and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, including strong writing and relationship building ability.
• Attention to detail and organisational skills, including managing budgets.
• Collaborative working style with internal and external colleagues.
• Project management: ability to manage and oversee multiple simultaneous projects 
• Self-sufficiency and resilience to manage operational delivery of high-profile events and advise internal colleagues on strategy and positioning.
• Confident use of digital systems and software, able to pick up and adapt to use of different platforms and products including core applications and platforms, e.g. webinar technology, CRM (Salesforce), online booking applications, spreadsheets.
• Interest in social and economic policy issues and issues that impact the social sector.

Desirable characteristics include:

• Experience of and interest in the social sector or think tank sector 
• Experience in health and safety, GDPR and the legal aspect of events, such as risk assessments and charity tax. Familiarity with the Fundraising Regulator’s codes of practice
• Experience of WordPress and wider experience in Content Management Systems and content design.
• Experience of major donor and/or corporate relationship management.

About the team 

The Data Operations Team sits within the wider Supporter Experience and Operations team, within the Mass Engagement Department at WaterAid. The team is responsible for enabling a high-quality supporter experience through best in class data operations, ensuring tasks are effectively managed across the team. This role leads on all aspects of data imports, Direct Debit processing and Gift Aid claims, enabling WaterAid UK to maximise its fundraising potential, ensuring compliance with financial and data regulations and maintaining high data quality standards.

About the role 

As our Data Operations Manager, you will ensure the accuracy and efficient management of data imports and core income processes such as the Direct Debit and Gift Aid claims. You will work closely with key stakeholders in Performance and Insight, Finance and Mass Engagement to drive sustainable change.

In this role, you will: 

• Manage the day-to-day data operations (including data imports, Direct Debit submissions, submitting Gift Aid claims to HMRC)
• Line Manage two Data Operations Officers, providing support, coaching and mentoring 
• Manage the workload and responsibilities of the Data Operations Team, ensuring that tasks are carried out on schedule and within agreed SLAs 
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy through automation or system enhancements 
• Build strong operational relationships with key stakeholders in the Data Engineering and CRM teams, as well as with WaterAid’s third party agencies, to identify areas for improvements and rapid problem fixing, particularly in relation to managing data rejects 
• Champion WaterAid’s commitment to equity, inclusion and safeguarding. 

Requirements

To be successful, you will need: 

• Excellent problem solving and communication skills 
• Strong experience of using relational database packages and working with large and complex data sets 
• Experience of leading, managing and motivating others and driving change 
• Experience of measuring and reporting on team performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) 
• Experience of using SQL 
• Knowledge of BACS, Direct Debit and Gift Aid HMRC regulations

About Shooting Star Children’s Hospices

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Family Support Team at Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

 Shooting Star Children’s Hospices provides specialist care and support to families who have a baby, child or young person with a life-limiting condition, or whose child has died. Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, our teams support families across Surrey, north-west London and south-west London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. Family support is provided to families in 15 different languages.

About the role

Family Support Workers (FSW) are the frontline of our care. Each FSW holds a caseload of end-of-life and bereaved families. They get to know their families, and check-in regularly with phone calls and home visits and can provide enhanced emotional support where required through more regular contact and interventions. Our FSWs tell families about the many services they can access at Shooting Star, assess their needs and make recommendations to our multi-disciplinary team. They  support families of different ethnicities and families living in poverty, helping our service be as accessible as possible. This includes providing support in a family’s first language. Several families cared for by Shooting Star speak Gujarati.

Our FSWs work closely with our Therapists, Counsellors, Social Workers, Transition Team and our Care Events Team. Weekly MDT meetings bring the team together to think of ways to help families in crisis. The work is varied and creative, taking place at the hospices, in family homes and hospitals, allowing the support to be where the families need it. Our Family Support Workers are hugely appreciated by the families we support.

The ambition of our strategy is to ensure every family affected by a life-limiting condition, or the sudden death of a child, has access to the specialist care that they need. Day to day duties are:

• Being the on-site duty FSW, welcoming families on site, monitoring email inboxes and answering the Family Support Line.
• Helping with support groups and family events
• Providing on the spot emotional support, sometimes in a crisis where a calm and supportive response is required.
• Visiting newly bereaved families in their homes – specifically Gujrati speaking families.
• Supporting families staying at our Christopher’s hospice (booked stays and end of life).
• Attending various locations over the course of a week: hospice, hospital, family homes.
• Building connections with families from different backgrounds, delivering culturally sensitive care.
• Helping safeguard families at risk of harm.
• Acting as an ambassador for Shooting Star’s Specialist Bereavement Service, supporting other care team members with their learning and delivery of the bereavement pathway, and continually seeking ways to improve what we offer families.

The post holder will need to have a UK driving license.

The hours are predominantly worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Once a month, the FSW will work a weekend day (with advance notice). This is in place of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday that week.

This role requires experience of working with children and families who have experienced hardship, or those with complex needs. You should have a calm, positive manner, conveying empathy whilst maintaining professional boundaries. We are looking for someone who is fluent in Gujarati, who is passionate about supporting children and families.

As The Childhood Trust’s Volunteer Manager, you’ll be responsible for volunteers across the organisation. Your role will include oversight of the corporate and community volunteers who take part in our Transforming Spaces programme. You will work closely with colleagues in the fundraising team to create a positive and inspiring experience for corporate volunteers. 

Key to this role will be working with the Head of Volunteering and Community Programmes to embed volunteering across The Childhood Trust. Operation Christmas Child UK (OCC) has implemented a strategic volunteer ministry, investing in teams of volunteers who will multiply themselves and hugely extend the reach of OCC’s mission.

OCC is the world’s largest shoebox appeal where Samaritan’s Purse, together with local churches here and overseas, distributes from the UK 1/4 million gift-filled shoeboxes annually to children in need overseas and in so doing demonstrates God’s love in a tangible way while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

A resourceful and energetic Regional Manager is needed to recruit, select, equip, and lead teams of volunteers throughout the 32 London boroughs.

You will be passionate about developing others towards highly effective ministry, teamwork and increased personal competency.

You will also directly engage churches to participate in OCC in areas not yet covered by Connect volunteers. A special opportunity will be engaging London churches that have partnered with our sister ministry, Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for the June 2025 God Loves You Tour London.

You will be confident to take initiative with people and projects and also have good administrative and organisational skills. You will also enjoy envisioning the numerous volunteers who participate in the OCC shoebox appeal each year.
