Key Responsibilities:

• Administration and delivery of digital and face-to-face events.
• Process manual bookings and respond to event-related queries.
• Monitor delegate numbers and provide regular updates.
• Source and negotiate venue contracts and external suppliers.
• Liaise with venues regarding logistics and requirements.
• Produce delegate badges and ensure timely delivery.

• Manage event registration and post-event feedback.

 
The Successful Candidate:

• Will have at least 2 years of event administration experience.

• Has experience using online event platforms (ON24 preferred).

Cancer Grand Challenges is a global funding initiative founded in 2020 by the two largest funders of cancer research in the world: Cancer Research UK and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in the US ().

Cancer Grand Challenges builds on the success of CRUK's Grand Challenge that launched in 2015 - to date we have committed in excess of c$400m to fund 16 interdisciplinary teams, and our portfolio now includes over 1200 researchers and collaborators across 16 countries. In this varied role, you'll support the delivery of conferences, such as our Future Leaders Conference held annually in Europe, specifically aimed at early careers researchers to aid with networking and careers advice. You'll also support larger events such as CGC Sumit, our annual flagship event. This huge four-day event is used to review each of the funded teams' progress towards solving their challenge The main summit consists of 2.5 days of programming with team presentations, keynote speakers and expert panel discussions.

As an Events Officer, you don't need to come from a science background and we are open in terms of the types of events you have organised previously. As long as you come with strong project management experience and are used to a busy and fast paced environment, we would love to hear from you.

What will I be doing?

• Support the team in delivering a range of international events;

• Manage a scientific conference from development to delivery

• Maintain and update the annual calendar of Cancer Grand Challenges events;

• Manage the events inbox and reply to all queries in a timely and helpful manner;

• Lead on attendee management, including tracking RSVPs, booking accommodation and managing queries;

• Lead on the creation of materials for events planning, digital and printed content (non-scientific) and briefing and evaluations;

• Manage all team processes relating to procurement of venues and suppliers for events including financial processing.

You will also support the development of escalation plans so that Unpaid Carers are prepared for unforeseen circumstances that would impact negatively on ability to care.

Applicants should have relevant personal or professional experience of working with Unpaid Carers and/or vulnerable adults or children in a social care, health, education or voluntary and community sector. You’ll need a practical understanding of barriers faced by Unpaid Carers, and an awareness of cultural differences and access to services. Experience of working in mental health or dementia services would be an advantage.

A bit about the role 

Action for Children aims to deliver substantial growth from our high value audience over the next five years, with the Philanthropy and Trusts team playing a vital role in achieving that ambition, working together with other Income and Engagement teams. 

As Trusts Officer you will work to secure donations from trusts and foundations to deliver a wide range of organisational priority projects and services, also contributing to the development of the trusts pipeline to support the team’s growth strategy.

We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrable experience of securing four and five figure gifts from Trusts and Foundations. 

How you'll help to create brighter futures  

• Work collaboratively and support the team to implement activities to deliver the Trust team’s financial aims with a responsibility for delivering an annual income target, focusing on securing four and five figure donations from charitable trusts and foundations.
• Initiate and develop long-term relationships with trusts and foundations.
• Develop and implement individual solicitation and stewardship plans for existing trusts and new prospects.
• Contribute to a communication and stewardship programme.
• Collaborate with fundraising colleagues to track and report on prospecting activities.
• Take responsibility for ensuring that fundraising partnerships with charitable trusts and foundations achieve their maximum potential. 
• Work with the Philanthropy, Trusts, and Prospect Development Managers to identify new prospects.

• Ability to manage a complex pool of prospects and donors, devising clear donor solicitation plans with the aim of securing long term financial philanthropic support.
• Experience of creative proposal and report writing.
• Experience of preparing budgets for potential funders and for grant reports.
• A professional solutions-focused approach to making effective decisions.
• Experience of using and interrogating relational databases, maintaining accurate financial records.
• Flexible and calming approach to work and willingness to be accommodating over working hours when required.
• Excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills.

Are you a skilled leader with a drive for investment and sustainability in housing?

We're seeking a dedicated Head of Reinvestment and Sustainability to join the St Mungo’s Assets team. This role is crucial in driving forward our investment and sustainability initiatives, ensuring our properties are safe, well-maintained, and ensuring compliance with PAS 2035 and relevant standards.

Reporting to the Director of Property Services, you will lead multiple improvement projects across our diverse housing stock. Your strategic and operational leadership will be key in delivering high-quality properties and improving the lives of our residents. You will work closely with internal teams, residents, and external partners to drive innovation and collaboration within the Reinvestment and Sustainability function.

Additional responsibilities in the role of Head of Reinvestment and Sustainability:

• Lead reinvestment, disposal, energy efficiency, building safety, sustainability, and planned maintenance programmes.
• Prepare capital budgets, revenue forecasts, and programme schedules.
• Oversee the design, procurement, and delivery of construction proposals for planned maintenance programmes.
• Develop effective relationships with partner organisations, including the GLA, Homes England, and Local Authorities.
• Manage projects and contracts for reinvestment and retrofit initiatives.
• Drive design excellence and contribute to policy development related to property design and sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory expectations in building and fire safety, landlord health and safety, and energy efficiency.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London or on site. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. We support a flexible approach to work with opportunities for agile working for the rest of your week; from home, or other St Mungo’s London or regional locations. 

About You
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about enhancing housing standards and sustainability who has the ability to drive impactful reinvestment and retrofit programmes.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Proven success in managing reinvestment and retrofit programmes with significant budgets, preferably in social housing or local authorities.
• Advanced knowledge of construction, JCT contracts, Building Regulations, and key legislation.
• Expertise in PAS 2035, ECO funding, SHDF, and energy efficiency schemes.
• Hands-on experience collaborating with Retrofit Coordinators, Assessors, and Designers to ensure best practices.
• Exceptional team leadership and staff management skills.
• Outstanding stakeholder engagement, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Sharp project management, negotiation, and influencing talents.
• Strong financial appraisal and risk management capabilities with a focus on efficiency.
• Relevant qualification (RIBA, RICS, CIOB) or equivalent experience in the built environment.
