Purpose of the job:
This key role in our fundraising team will be integral in helping the team meet our ambitious targets. Working predominantly on Trusts and Foundations applications, leading the development and submission of high-quality proposals, with opportunities to work across additional income streams. The postholder will be responsible for securing grants, developing relationships, providing excellent stewardship to funders, and working collaboratively with colleagues.
Key responsibilities include:

Experience of successfully securing five figure grants from charitable trusts, foundations, and/or major donors.

Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) is a UK-registered charity (1081455) offering funding (Awards), training and media profile to inspiring leaders of wildlife conservation projects across the Global South. The opportunity

Established in 1993, we have channelled £23 million to 220 conservation leaders in 80 countries across the Global South, benefitting wildlife, landscapes, and people. We are now seeking to expand the team in line with our activities by recruiting a Communications Assistant to maintain and grow the organisation’s online communications across digital and social media platforms and support the team with office administration and event organisation. The post-holder should be keen to make a difference by working in a small team across an impactful organisation. About the role
The Director of Finance and Corporate Resources holds a key role in our organisation and is core to the senior management team. Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director of Finance and Corporate Resources is responsible for finance, HR, facilities, and governance.
Managing a team of four (comprising a Financial Controller, Finance Services and Business Support Manager, HR Manager, and an Administrator) they are responsible for all ‘back office’ operations, providing the supporting infrastructure to ensure quality delivery of our work and mission.

About the role
This hands-on role will lead the implementation of global communications strategies for ITF’s Land and
Air Sections (LAS): Aviation, Railways, Road Transport, Tourism and Urban Transport.
The LAS Communications Manager will work closely with the industrial sections and affiliates to push forward a union-led agenda for the aviation and inland transport industries.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team, this role will work collaboratively to deliver and evaluate forward-thinking communication strategies for these industrial work programs and their priority campaigns. The role will include targeting diverse audiences including transport workers in the industries, employers, allies, media, policy makers, political leaders and the wider public. The role will also play a crucial role in ensuring that section’s industrial priorities and issues are reflected and integrated in organisation-wide communications priorities and areas of focus.
Fundamental to this role will be an ability to develop expert knowledge and keep on top of policy and industrial issues facing aviation, railway, road transport, tourism and public transport workers, and effectively interpret and analyse the complex issues and challenges into communications strategies that advance workers’ rights.
You will be part of delivering solidarity and support to local, national and global disputes, building communications that reinforce the critical role transport workers in the land and air industries play, developing strategies to support union-led policies on everything from health and safety to sustainability, and raising the volume on the global struggle to advance the rights and equalities of the world’s transport workers.

But there’s a lot more to the Ramblers. Since 1935, we’ve been fighting for the public’s right to enjoy Britain’s landscapes. We do it through campaigning for changes in legislation, opening up green routes in cities, maintaining paths and signposts, saving lost paths … and so much more.
Purpose of Role
The Community Engagement Manager is a pivotal new role in the delivery of our refreshed strategy. Too many of the people who would benefit most from walking outdoors face significant barriers – they are under-represented in the Ramblers and the outdoors community. Ramblers has several projects at different stages of development and delivery to begin to address this, but we are aware there is a considerable body of theory and practice in public and charity sectors on outreach to excluded communities that could help us achieve our goals.
We are looking for a professional with considerable experience in this area who can help us create a common approach to our outreach and engagement work that builds on our existing experience and incorporates wider best practice.
The role
- To bring into the Ramblers expertise and best practice on approaches to community outreach and engagement from across the voluntary and public sectors.
- To establish and deepen relationships with excluded communities, particularly lower IMD communities in existing and future pilot areas.
- To support and advise project leaders within the Ramblers across GB who are engaging a range of excluded groups and audiences including refugees and asylum seekers, global majority communities, lower IMD communities, LGBTQI communities and people who are neurodivergent or have disabilities.
- To collaborate with other project leads working with excluded communities within the Ramblers, to build consensus about a common approach or toolkit and to help develop, document, and implement this approach.
- To help initiate and support partnerships with other national organisations working with excluded groups, including lower IMD communities – particularly those organisations looking to boost physical activity, involvement in the outdoors or the appreciation of nature.
- To support funder relationships by contributing to bid development and reporting, including for Sport England and the National Lottery Community Fund.
- To support efforts to build wider awareness across staff and volunteers at the Ramblers about what successful outreach and engagement with excluded groups looks like.
- To help raise the Ramblers profile as an organisation that is supporting those who face the greatest barriers to getting outdoors.
- To undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required of the postholder by the Ramblers.
The person
Knowledge and Experience
- Good knowledge of the theoretical underpinnings of outreach/engagement with excluded communities.
- Experience of best practice in the delivery of community outreach/engagement, ideally in a variety of settings including lower IMD neighbourhoods.
- Experience of delivering public health, sport and physical activity, or nature-connectedness programmes in partnership with local communities and organisations.
- Experience of working with the voluntary sector, volunteers and ideally membership organisations.
- Experience of assessing and managing risk in relation to physical activities, or a willingness to learn.
Skills and Leadership
- Experience of working with others in a leadership or co-ordination role to develop and implement new ways of working.
- Strong facilitation and training skills.
- Ability to lead group walks in a way that is enjoyable, engaging and safe for all participants.
Qualification [desirable]
- Walk Leadership qualification (e.g. Lowland Leader or Hill and Moorland Leader) – or ability to work towards one.
- Outdoor first aid qualification – or ability to work towards one.

This role will deliver Kidney Care UK’s Patient Support and Advocacy service in and around Manchester. This varied role deals with every aspect of a patient’s life that supports better outcomes: welfare benefits, practical, emotional and social support. Main responsibilities
- Provide a trauma informed and restorative practices involving the supported individual, devise, review and update developmental support plans, record events and observations and keep appropriate records as require in the service

DESCRIPTION
Job Purpose:To undertake a wide variety of tasks including delivering high quality support and personal development opportunities to young people in our supported accommodation. About the position
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional with a strong belief in the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in helping to build high performing teams within the international anti-slavery sector. Responsibilities
• Develop and deliver an HR strategy in collaboration with SLT that supports the organisation to deliver on its overall strategy as well as its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion vision and action plan.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) is the corporate foundation of Thomson Reuters, the global news and information services company. As an independent charity we work to advance media freedom, foster more inclusive economies, and promote human rights. We combine our unique media development and legal services to drive systemic change through news, capacity strengthening, free legal assistance, and convening initiatives.
TRF provides a Secretariat function to the Media Freedom Coalition (MFC). The MFC is a partnership of 50 countries from six continents working together to advocate for media freedom and the safety of journalists at home and abroad. The MFC works closely with civil society and a panel of legal experts, among others, to promote media freedom through a range of activities – including public and private diplomacy to support journalists at risk, coordinated action through embassies, events and the promotion of legal reforms. The MFC was established in 2019 while the Secretariat was established in 2022. More information about the MFC can be found here.
The MFC Secretariat plays a central role in maximising the impact of the Coalition. It does this in four areas:

Administration and operations: delivering specific activities including events and briefings; supporting and coordinating responses to cases of concern (in which journalists and news organisations are facing threats to their reporting); supporting embassies to act on media freedom; organizing meetings and maintaining the MFC’s network of contacts;

Communications: communicating the MFC’s activities and impact externally, via website, social media and mainstream media coverage; supporting public-facing events; keeping the MFC’s network informed about activities and opportunities to take action;

We are seeking a creative and resourceful Communications Manager to join our team. You will lead on the Secretariat’s communications function, both internally and externally, and will implement (and potentially improve on) our existing communications strategy. For the MFC, effective communications are not only about demonstrating the Coalition’s impact, they are also a way of encouraging and inspiring MFC member countries and their embassies to take action on media freedom. This means the Coalition’s communications are an essential component of its pathway to impact.
You will be required to engage with government representatives, diplomats, NGO leaders and some of the world’s finest legal practitioners as part of this role. You will look across the Coalition’s work and develop relationships with member countries and their embassies to identify human-centred stories that showcase the MFC’s work. The ideal candidate will be skilled at turning issues into stories and comfortable with taking the initiative and taking ownership of this area of the Secretariat’s work.
The role is based in Canary Wharf in London. The role is full time and you would be expected to attend TRF’s offices two or more days per week.
This is a 21-month fixed-term contract, starting 1 July 2024 or earlier, depending on availability. The contract may be extended beyond March 2026, conditional on further funds being secured for the Secretariat’s continued operation.
Some travel is anticipated as part of this role.
About The Role
As the Communications Manager you will:

Research, develop, edit and write communications materials including impact stories and case studies for the MFC’s website and potentially other platforms, using multimedia options where appropriate

Lead on the implementation of the MFC’s communications strategy, potentially making improvements to this, and tracking key performance indicators accordingly
