We are seeking for a Programme Officer in the Leaders in Innovation Fellowships (LIF) team.

The role

As Programme Officer, you will provide operational and administrative support across the entire portfolio of LIF activities, focusing on the LIF Global programme and the LIF Community. This role will involve some international travel.

Precisely, you will support the programme by organising training and mentoring, local and international events for a global network of engineering and technology entrepreneurs; and building and maintaining a sustainable international network of LIF alumni.

LIF empowers entrepreneurs who are making a positive impact in their communities with novel technologies. LIF Global is the flagship, entry-point programme that supports innovators with a technology prototype to create an entrepreneurial mindset, and the LIF Community ensures a sustained mutually beneficial relationship with the Academy beyond the initial programme period.

A highly organised individual with excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work across multiple projects, managing delivery according to priority and deadline. You are an effective communicator, both orally and in writing, and have the ability to adapt to a wide array of cultural contexts.

You understand the contribution of engineering and technology entrepreneurship and innovation to international development; and have·some knowledge/demonstrable interest in good practice in supporting entrepreneur development, including training, coaching and mentoring. You also have knowledge/demonstrable interest of good practice in managing suppliers of training and communications services.

Location

What the job involves

This is an exciting new role in Prostate Cancer UK’s Health Information and Clinical Support team. The team delivers a wide range of high-quality services directly to anyone affected by prostate cancer or prostate disease, as well as supporting a range of activity charity-wide that requires clinical expertise.

Many men, and their friends and family, don’t know the risk factors of prostate cancer – and when they do, they don’t know what to do next. We want a world where every man over 45 in the UK understands their risk of prostate cancer and has the tools and information to navigate it. Our online risk checker is a good place to start, but this role will be a crucial additional source of information for men and their loved ones. 

As a Risk Information Officer, you’ll deliver the charity’s pilot Risk Information Service, providing information and support to men at risk of prostate cancer, and their loved ones, via the telephone. This is a non-clinical role, but you’ll discuss callers’ risk of prostate cancer along the lines of the predominant risk factors (age, ethnicity, family history and BRCA gene status). If necessary, you’ll also support them to seek a PSA blood test from their GP and on occasion routing callers who have more complex clinical questions back to the Specialist Nurse service.

You’ll play a key role in developing the pilot – contributing to conversations and decisions around how to adjust and improve the service in its early months. You’ll also report back on your calls, to help the charity develop its broader understanding of information and support needs when it comes to prostate cancer risk and the PSA blood test.

Reporting into the Clinical Services Senior Officer, you’ll have close and regular contact with assigned Specialist Nurses so that you feel at ease in sharing prostate cancer related information with callers, and in maintaining the boundaries and scope of the service day-to-day.

This is a service pilot with the Risk Information Officer role being a fixed term for the duration, with the potential to make the role permanent based on the pilot’s success.

What we want from you

You’ll be a compassionate and resilient communicator; you may be speaking to a caller who is anxious about their risk of prostate cancer. You’ll be a great listener, hearing callers concerns and offering a supportive and empathetic response. Although this is a non-clinical role, with your existing understanding of the healthcare system in the UK, you’ll be willing to learn the basic knowledge of prostate cancer and use the appropriate associated terminology.

You’ll be comfortable in handling more complex conversations, but with self-awareness to recognise your limitations in offering support and recognising clear boundaries of guidance being provided and be able to direct to our Specialist Nurses when needed.

Experience in using a CRM system will be advantageous in this role and any experience with a helpline or providing support or information over the phone will be beneficial in your role.

Our programme supporting Higher Technical Education has big ambitions. Known as the ‘missing middle’ of higher education in England, we want to see the declines in level 4 and 5 technical education reversed and more providers emerge who can offer high-quality education and training to help people access highskilled occupations. Key to this transformation is the role of Institutes of Technology (IoTs) – collaborations between further education colleges, universities and employers – and we have been working closely with the National Network of Institutes of Technology to support their success. We are looking for a Project Officer to play an integral part in the successful delivery of this programme, as well as becoming an advocate for Higher Technical Qualifications more broadly. 

This role sits within the small Higher Education Team at Gatsby, and you will work closely with the Project Manager and Director of Programmes to: develop and deliver a range of projects to support our programme objectives; represent Gatsby at external meetings; organise meetings and events; and develop strong working relationships with key partners.

Key Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver projects to support Gatsby’s Higher Technical Education programme, with clear objectives and planning, delivering outputs on time and within budget.
• Research, create and write compelling communications that support programme objectives.
• Co-ordinate regular meetings and external events, including drafting agendas, writing minutes, liaising with and organising contributions from external stakeholders.
• Work effectively with other Gatsby programme teams to ensure higher technical education is appropriately represented within their areas of focus.

About the role

As Project Officer you will play a central role in the delivery of INTRAC’s consultancy assignments and grant funded projects. This will involve coordinating short and long term projects, involving staff and consultants through our global network and clients around the world, ensuring effective and quality delivery. About the role:

You will lead and support a team of Homicide Family Caseworkers to meet VS and Homicide Service standards and contractual requirements. You will be able to demonstrate the excellent organisational skills essential to managing a demanding and diverse workload and will have experience of achieving key performance indicators, as set by the Operation managers and Deputy Head of Service.

We pride ourselves on providing exceptional trauma informed advocacy and support to all service users and you will have an understanding of the impact that trauma and bereavement can have on individuals. We support staff to keep them safe within their role and you will lead on the importance of personal and professional resilience and wellbeing for the team.

You will have excellent communication skills and will support the Operation Managers to maintain the highest standards of service delivery, across a widely geographically dispersed team. You will be prepared to travel across the geographical area including occasional overnight stays to ensure you can meet team members in person as well as online. A driving license and use of a car are both essential as well as access to public transport. You will be reimbursed for all travel costs.

You will also enjoy working closely with a range of stakeholders (including Police Family Liaison Officers and Senior Investigation Officers within the Major Crime teams) and will have experience in building constructive working relationships, focused on delivering the best service for vulnerable service users. You should be a confident presenter, and able to share the service and work we do to inform, educate and encourage notifications and referrals into the service.

People living with Parkinson's need to have their voice heard in Scotland to ensure their health and care needs are met.  Following an investment in our services, support and work with the NHS, we are also expanding our campaigning and policy work across Scotland and the rest of the UK.

We’re looking for someone special with experience of campaigning, including an understanding of its basic tools and techniques, experience of interpreting complex policy issues for a public audience, and knowledge of the Scottish political and public policy landscape. 

About the role 

You’ll support our national and local campaigning work across Scotland to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s and those closest to them. As part of our dynamic and committed Scotland team, you’ll listen to the needs of our local communities and work with colleagues across the charity to deliver focussed political campaigning work. 

You’ll work with  our community to raise awareness and increase knowledge about Parkinson’s with decision makers at a local and national level. You’ll use your knowledge of public policy in Scotland and the UK to make sure that the voices of people with Parkinson’s, their partners, family members and friends are heard, and help to drive changes that improve their lives. 

What you’ll do:

• Be a first point of contact for campaigners in Scotland, who want to improve services in their local area, and recruit and manage a sustainable network of local campaign volunteers specific to Scotland.

• Support the work of the Policy and Campaigns Manager to understand and influence UK wide and Scottish specific legislation, policy and practice relating to our communities and their needs

• Provide expert advice and support to colleagues and campaigners on how best to influence decision makers in Scotland.

• Use our UK-wide campaign priorities to deliver national and local campaign activity, and coordinate campaigns with other charities and organisations, where appropriate to further our goals.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong people skills, and a commitment to putting the experiences and needs of people affected by Parkinson’s at the centre of your work 

• Excellent written and oral communication and an ability to produce inspiring content to motivate others, and the ability to network and manage supportive relationships with volunteers, MSPs and a range of external organisations

• Experience of managing a varied workload and working to tight deadlines, with excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise. 

• Experience in organising events for relevant stakeholders

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. We're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

We currently have around 90 staff based in England, Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland.

There are huge challenges facing bowel cancer patients across the UK, and our community needs us now more than ever. We’re building a strong and united team to bring us closer to a world where nobody dies of bowel cancer.

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive online community professional to join our friendly and supportive Peer Support team. This role is part of our peer support services team and will be responsible for supporting our online peer support communities, including our forum and Facebook groups.

The post holder will work directly with the Peer Support Manager and the Senior Online Communities Officer, as well as with colleagues from across the charity to develop our online communities, helping us to reach and support more people affected by bowel cancer and those concerned about symptoms, risk and pre-diagnosis.

The successful candidate will work with the Head of the Gambling Action Lab (GAL) and the Senior Research Officer to bring together a handful of representatives from financial services firms to explore ways to reduce gambling-related financial harms. They will build and maintain stakeholder relationships and play a key role in facilitating group discussions with financial services representatives. This exciting role will also involve driving and promoting the work and visibility of the GAL, and planning and delivering a programme of events to promote our work.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation. We are a growing team, and with momentum building to address gambling-related harms, our work has never been so vital. In this position, you will play an important role in helping us to further understand the links between money, mental health problems and gambling harms and work with firms and stakeholders to develop practical solutions that lead to real change.

The full-time equivalent salary is either £41,283 at the Senior Officer level or £32,915 at the Officer level.

This role can be offered as London-based or remote (with twice-monthly travel to the London office) and either full-time (37.5 hours over 5 days) or part-time (minimum 30 hours over 4 days a week).

Our Part-Time Fundraising Officer will support the organisation's fundraising joining a high performing team of fundraisers.

Job deliverables:

• Identify and maximise opportunities to raise unrestricted and restricted funds from small trusts and other funding bodies to ask for grants up to £10,000
• Plan, prepare and write compelling applications for funding
• Build relationships with trusts, foundations and other funding bodies that help Bipolar UK secure long-term funding and support
• Achieve income targets that support Bipolar UK’s strategic service delivery goals
• Keep accurate records on Salesforce CRM
• With the Trusts Manager, develop our ‘thank you’ processes and donor stewardship programmes
• Create reports and updates for donors that bring to life the impact of their support
• Meet regular deadlines and manage your own workload
• Develop excellent working relationships across Bipolar UK
• Develop and maintain your knowledge of the charity sector and fundraising environment, to keep up to date with changes
• Be administratively self-supporting
• Understand and empathise with the beneficiaries and portray them (and the work of Bipolar UK) with sensitivity and accuracy
• Undertake any other duties that are relevant to the job as requested by the Trusts Manager and the CEO
