Based in Surrey, the Orpheus Centre is an independent specialist college and charity that focuses on developing independence skills through performing and visual arts and makes dramatic improvements to young disabled adults’ lives. We are currently looking for a driven and pro-active Events Fundraiser to develop, coordinate and deliver the charity’s fundraising events and orchestrate experiences from initial concept to post event analysis. This includes pre-event planning and development, concept development and proposal.
Working closely with the Head of Capital Appeal and Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager, you will design and deliver events which steward and develop key contacts as part of our Capital Appeal.
The role holder will have strong administration skills, attention to detail and work as part of a team. You will be self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, managing a wide range of tasks.
35 hours per week / 52 weeks per year
Salary: £28,000 - 32,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Essential qualifications, knowledge and experience:

- At least 2yrs experience of fundraising, marketing or events in a paid or voluntary capacity

Mary Hare educates 200 profoundly deaf children at its residential school in Berkshire, and we pride ourselves on our pupils’ achievements at GCSE, A Level as well as B Tech and Vocational Courses. We offer the opportunity to teach highly motivated children, in small classes, where you can make a real difference at this national centre of excellence for deaf education. No knowledge of sign language is required, as we follow an auditory/oral philosophy.
The Role:

The organisation has a good track record of raising substantial sums for major capital developments including an arts centre, new residential accommodation and most recently £4 million for a new Primary School for deaf children. You will be responsible for a small team and will need to be able to secure major donations from Trusts, Foundations and individuals. The role is varied and takes in most areas of fundraising. You will also be responsible to for raising unrestricted funds annually.
The Fundraising Manager will manage the Trusts Fundraiser. The role works across two organisations: The Mary Hare Foundation and Mary Hare. These are two separate registered charities. The Mary Hare Foundation is the fundraising arm and Mary Hare is concerned with service delivery.
The largest fundraising targets are related to capital projects that are outlined by the School.There are some revenue fundraising targets, including the bursary scheme. The role is very hands on with both the management of fundraising and the implementation of fundraising activities, especially trust fundraising.
About you:
We are looking for someone with proven experience securing funding from trusts and foundations, with a strong track record of writing successful applications for significant grants (£200k+). You will be a confident and persuasive writer, able to communicate our impact concisely and compellingly, while building strong and long-lasting funder relationships.
Proactive and tenacious, you excel at identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities. Highly organised, with keen attention to detail, you can manage multiple applications and deadlines effectively.
You will be familiar with organising a wide range of events and understand what makes a successful fundraising event.You will have experience of stewarding high level givers as well as securing donations from individuals and companies.You will also have:
- Excellent written skills to create accurate, powerful, compelling and persuasive copy in a range of formats.
- Ability to match the needs of prospective funders with the needs of the charity.

The Role
We have a rewarding opportunity for a School Impact Officer to train, support and develop volunteers and monitor the programme through effective administration, data management and to build a deep partnership between the school and the charity.
The Impact Officer is based predominantly in a school and is the primary link between the partner schools and the programme and is the enabler of the programme delivery. You will support a team of volunteer mentors, who support school activities by coordinating, managing and evaluating the programme.
The Volunteer Mentors also complete a Leadership and Development programme and you will work with them on a professional development plan to chart their continuous professional development and ready them for employment.

The Opportunity
The EdTech Evidence Lead will play a key role in delivering one of our key projects, focusing on EdTech Evidence. Drawing on their experience and knowledge of EdTech, they will support EdTech companies and educators to build understanding about gathering and evaluating evidence for different EdTech products. They will develop guidance and materials to facilitate this, and work with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to develop resources, systems and processes that aim to promote and recognise ‘high-quality’ evidence around EdTech.
Main responsibilities include:
- Developing tools and resources to support individuals and organisations to engage with, and in, gathering and evaluating evidence around EdTech
- Developing guidance and training which helps EdTech companies plan and carry out evidence-gathering activities for their products and prepares them to submit evidence for formal review
- Contributing to the development and delivery of processes and systems for formally reviewing EdTech evidence
- Build relationships with EdTech companies and other key stakeholders to understand their use of evidence relating to EdTech and engage them with the project
- Liaising with a range of stakeholders to promote the use of EdTech evidence and seek input into the design and development of key project deliverables
- Representing the project externally to promote engagement with both the project, and with EdTech evidence generally

About the opportunity
We're in a fantastic position to have recently have partnered with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) for an evaluation of our programmes. Excitingly this means we will be expanding our reach and starting to work in geographies that we've not reached before.
We are now recruiting for a Programme Coordinator for our schools in Leeds/Bradford.
The Leeds/Bradford Programme Coordinator oversees a caseload of up to seven partner schools. They manage the logistics and organisation of each school’s tutoring programme, working closely with the schools and pupils and managing the pool of volunteer tutors. They attend the weekly tutoring sessions at each school, as well as overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring, always working to deliver a great impact.
The Leeds/Bradford Programme Coordinator supports the recruitment of volunteer tutors, manages the tutor sign up process, develops relationships with schools including their Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers, collects data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and works with other internal teams on business development opportunities.

Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for the delivery of Action Tutoring’s tutoring programmes in partner schools, whether online or face to face. This includes working closely to manage all key stakeholders: schools, pupils and volunteer tutors; regularly attending weekly tutoring sessions; leading on reviewing and improving programme delivery, using data to reliably assess programme performance.
- Responsible for overseeing the quality of tutoring, engaging in quality assurance processes, and providing feedback to volunteer tutors to ensure effective and impactful delivery. Provide regular check-ins with tutors to ensure ample support and guidance is given to provide targeted tuition to pupils.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in partner schools, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers. Maintain clear and timely communication with relevant school staff, offering regular check-ins with key school stakeholders, and contribute to impact reporting to schools. Supporting the Programme Manager with strategies to retain and sustain school partnerships.
- Update and accurately maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting timely data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and pupil surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators to key stakeholders and using them to enhance programme delivery. Work with the Programme Manager on business development, approaching new schools that might be interested in working with Action Tutoring.
- Proactively report to the Programme Manager on the details of Action Tutoring’s operations in their partner schools.

You should be confident in building and maintaining relationships with partners – from commercial brands to educational institutions – and be comfortable negotiating and communicating with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate with colleagues across teams. You’ll need to be organised, able to manage multiple projects at once, and confident working with data – including reporting on sales and marketing performance. A good working knowledge of tools like Microsoft Office and digital marketing platforms is important, and experience with affiliate platforms or CRM systems would be a plus. We’re looking for someone who brings initiative, attention to detail, and a positive, solutions-focused mindset. An understanding of the student market or education sector is helpful but not essential – what matters most is your ability to engage partners, drive results, and work sympathetically in a values led organisation where many of our outcomes focus on doing the right thing, with ethics at the heart of our work.
