We are looking for a Program Coordinator for our Scouts Program based in Ioannina, for a minimum commitment of 6 months.
In this role, you’ll be coordinating the daily planning and delivery of activities for young refugees in two refugee camps: Katsikas and Agia Eleni.
The program consists of English language classes, educational workshops and excursions outside of the camp. The program engages around 50 children at each site, between the ages of 8 and 17, the majority of whom are from Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria.
For this role:
Initially, you will work closely with the outgoing Program Coordinator to learn how the program functions. This may last a few weeks and may include preparing and delivering sessions in line with your skills, supporting teachers, and helping organise weekend excursions. This gives us a chance to see your capacities and conduct a thorough handover.
Role Description:
You will…
- Coordinate, delegate, and manage a team of 4-5 volunteers in the daily operations of the Scouts Program
- Develop current programming in coordination with the Programs Manager and project team member
- Assess impact and effectiveness of the program in line with its objectives
- Plan and deliver effective educational and outdoor activities, within a theme-based, modular curriculum
- Ensure a high quality of program implementation, with the ability to provide behaviour management and safeguarding training to new volunteers
- Directly supervise and support project team to ensure effective inductions and transfer of key skills/knowledge take place between short term team members
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders
- Represent Second Tree in relevant external meetings with international actors (UNHCR, IOM, ASB, Intersos, TDH) or local authorities (municipality, army, police, etc)
- Capture and compile relevant M&E on the program
- Conduct interviews with volunteer candidates

We are seeking two Governors for our voluntary-aided girls’ school in the East End of London who care deeply about transforming the lives of young women through education.
What will you be doing?
About You
We are looking for two new Foundation Governors who are excited by and committed to the delivery of an excellent education for students at our Girls' School in Tower Hamlets. You will join seventeen other members of the Governing Body responsible for the strategic direction of the school, and involved in many significant decisions in school life.
Time Commitment
Governors usually spend ~20 hours per term on core governing duties.
The Governing Body which meets four times a year to undertake its regular duties, with occasional meetings for urgent or time critical decisions. Regular meetings currently take place on Wednesdays during term time, usually at 5/5.30pm. Governors also need to allow time to read papers and prepare for meetings.
The Girls’ School Governing Body has three sub-committees – Finance & Resources, Curriculum, and Health & Safety and Personnel. These meet at least termly, and we ask that each governor sit on at least one committee.
In addition, we are particularly looking for the successful candidate to be able to spend a further 8 – 10 hours per term on ad hoc matters requiring more 'hands on' governor involvement, including meetings with students, staff and parents which usually take place during the school day.
We encourage governors to attend one governor’s day per term when specific topics central to educational outcomes are highlighted for discussion with staff and students. Governors are also invited to attend public events such school play performances, music concerts and prize-giving ceremonies.
Skills and Background
Folloiwng a recent skills audit, we are particularly interested in individuals who have had experience in HR or finance. We encourage applications from all members of society, regardless of background, gender, ethnicity, disability, or age.
Being a Foundation Governor
Governors come from a wide range of backgrounds and professions and include some appointed by the staff of the school, parents and the Tower Hamlets Local Authority. A majority of the governors are appointed by the Central Foundation Schools of London. As an Educational Charity we support two schools in inner London, the Girls' School and also Central Foundation Boys' School in Islington. This appointment will be a joint appointment by the Foundation and the Girls' School governing body.
Training on the of role of governor will be provided for successful candidates.

About EduSpots
EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-orientated UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips grassroots voluntary educators (named ‘Catalysts’) to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of a world in which communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.
Since 2016, through collaborating with over 400 local voluntary community educators and actors – named ‘Catalysts’ – who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’’. Our Ghana-based team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for Catalysts which are increasingly facilitated by the EduSpots app: the Ignite, Catalyse and Inspire Mentoring Programmes. These enable the Catalysts to lead EduKidz (early years education), DigLit (digital literacy), EcoSTEM (STEM and environmental education) and Ignite Equity (gender equity) clubs for learners typically aged 3-16, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 learners of all ages annually. Key areas of delivery
We have two internships opening currently:
- Trusts and Foundations Intern
This intern will work closely with our experienced trusts and foundations manager, to support the research process behind identifying trusts and foundations that align with our work, and building a strong case for support of our work.
They will be given the opportunity to learn about grant writing, and in time, complete funding applications with supportive feedback, also contributing ideas to the fundraising team strategy more widely in a friendly, open team environment.
2. Campaigns Intern
Following the launch of the Bike 2 My Roots Campaign, where Ghanaian cyclist, Emmanuel Adjei is aiming to cycle 10,000km from Munich to Accra this summer, we are looking for an intern to support with management of this campaign, including supporting the organisation of the ‘spin-off’ events as we encourage cyclists across the world to cycle, and fundraising, alongside him!
For this role, you will need strong social media and communications skills, with an aptitude for relationship building and the proactivity to reach out to people for support, across the cycling community and beyond! If you love cycling, that would be an added bonus!
For both roles, candidates should be flexible and be ready to develop basic Canva design skills if you don’t have these skills already. You would join all team meetings and our in-house professional development programme.
Personal specification
We are looking for interns with the following:
- Strong communication skills – e.g. written and verbal in English.
- Strong IT skills – e.g. ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Drive, social media etc.
- An ability to work independently with minimal support, with the proactivity to reach out to team members when necessary.
- A genuine interest in learning about education and international development
- A team player, willing to listen to others and respond to feedback quickly and input into the EduSpots community.
- An ability to use Canva design software is desirable, or else a willingness to learn.
- A genuine passion for making a tangible impact on educational opportunity through this role
- A desire to be part of a supportive and passioante education community, with a specifc interest in community-led change.

We would like the selected interns to start immediately, and by the start of June. The internship is flexible in timings, but likely for 6 months with a 3 month review period.
