The role 

SAFE! Support for Young People Affected by Crime is a dynamic Oxford based charity working across the Thames Valley.We are looking for experienced practitioners to provide face to face support on a freelance basis to young people and parents/caregivers across all our services on a one-to-one basis.Freelancers are home-based practitioners who travel to meet young people and/or parents face-to-face, with very occasional remote support.There are also opportunities to co-facilitate group work.

SAFE! Sessional Practitioners  

Locations: Opportunities across the Thames Valley.

Payment: Practitioners submit invoices monthly and are paid at a rate of £25 per hour, plus £10 per hour travel cost.They are liable for all tax and business expenses. 

About you  

You’ll have extensive experience of working with young people in a supportive role with a proven track record of building appropriate relationships and providing outstanding support to children, young people, and parents.You’ll be confident in designing individual intervention plans based on needs. An enthusiastic self-starter with excellent communication skills, you’ll possess a positive, solution-focussed attitude. With experience of multi-agency working and a commitment to high standards of professionalism, your values will align with SAFE!’s vision, mission, and values.

We are seeking people with a professional qualification in social work, teaching, youth work, probation, or equivalent, and extensive experience of working with children and young people. 

Contracts will be subject to references and checks made by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) satisfactory to SAFE!

Shortlisting will happen on a rolling basis with interview dates offered on 17/09/2026 and 24/09/2026 at SAFE! Head Office, OX4 2BH 

Successful candidates will be required to attend the following:  

• Protective Behaviour Training in Oxford (OX4 3BH) 2 Sessions face-to-face on 13/10/2026 and 20/10/2026 or 4 Sessions Online 04/11/2026, 11/11/2026, 18/11/2026 & 25/11/2026.

• Induction dates (candidates will be required to attend ALL induction sessions: 1, 2 & 3). Induction Session 1 - 08/10/2026, Induction Session 2 - 26/11/2026, Induction Session 3- 03/12/2026

Role Requirements 

Planning & Stakeholder Engagement 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across education, youth services, community organisations and digital sectors. 

• Lead the recruitment of delegates to Ygam’s gaming, esports and digital harms programmes. 

• Promote Ygam’s training and resources to organisations, ensuring clear understanding of programme content, outcomes and long‑term support. 

• Develop and sustain a strong pipeline of stakeholders and delegates to ensure workshops are consistently well attended. 

• Understand stakeholder needs and tailor information and support accordingly. 

• Identify and attend relevant gaming, esports, digital safety and education conferences, seminars and events. 

• Signpost organisations and families to Ygam’s Parent / Family Hub to increase awareness of gaming and digital harms. 

• Work closely with the Programme Lead: Delivery and Outcomes to set objectives, review performance and contribute to programme development. 

Delivery 

• Deliver Ygam’s portfolio of programmes with a focus on gaming, esports and digital harms workshops online and face to face. 

• Deliver workshops directly to children and young people in education and non‑education settings, ensuring content is age‑appropriate and engaging. 

• Provide high‑quality training to professionals working with children and young people, in line with Ygam’s Quality Assurance processes. 

• Deliver independently and as part of a team‑teach approach. 

• Respond to delegate questions with confidence, sensitivity and subject knowledge. 

• Promote Ygam’s complementary offers such as Alumni, Let’s Explore and other digital harms resources. 

• Provide an excellent, professional experience for all delegates and partners. 

Outcomes & Impact 

• Provide ongoing support to schools and youth organisations to embed Ygam’s gaming and digital harms materials into practice. 

• Accurately record data and engagement activity using Ygam’s CRM system. 

• Develop and deliver team‑teach opportunities that empower teachers and professionals to implement Ygam resources independently. 

• Identify and contribute to case studies that demonstrate the impact of Ygam’s gaming and digital harms education. 

• Work with the Insight and Evaluation teams to support measurement of outcomes, impact and performance. 

Learning & Development 

• Proactively identify knowledge gaps, particularly related to gaming culture, digital trends and emerging online risks, and undertake relevant CPD. 

• Ensure mandatory and role‑specific training is completed and kept up to date. 

• Attend regular supervision and support sessions with line manager. 

• Reflect on and record performance and development in monthly 1‑to‑1 meetings. 

Administration 

• Manage workshop administration using the CRM system, including sending joining instructions. 

• Record attendance and gather feedback post‑workshop. 

• Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and data protection requirements. 

Person Specification 

Essential 

• Experience delivering training to both adults and children/young people. 

• Ability to explain complex topics such as gaming risks, online behaviours and digital harms in a clear and accessible way. 

• Experience delivering online and face‑to‑face learning. 

• Stakeholder engagement experience within education, youth work or children’s services. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

• Strong IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

• Experience developing and managing a delegate or sales pipeline and meeting KPIs. 

• Experience driving projects to achieve agreed outcomes. 

• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and self‑managing. 

• Experience promoting or selling a service or programme. 

• Experience working effectively within a team to meet shared targets. 

• Willingness to travel regionally and nationally to deliver training. 

• Right to live and work in the UK. 

Desirable 

• Knowledge of the English education system, including PSHE and RSE curriculum. 

• Strong interest in or understanding of gaming, esports and online youth culture. 

• Understanding of a public health and prevention‑based approach to harm reduction. 

• Strong networking and relationship‑building skills. 

• Experience using CRM systems, particularly Salesforce.
