We now have a vacancy for a Senior Policy & Public Affairs Adviser to join our friendly Policy & Public Affairs team. This is a great opportunity to support the BPS’ advocacy and policy objectives, working across our member networks, political and government stakeholders to identify priorities, and influence policy positions where the BPS should have a strong and effective voice. 

This role is key to driving forward our engagement strategy.  Your responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring activity across Westminster, Whitehall and other administrations as appropriate in relation to the BPS’s policy and engagement priorities 
• Driving policy development, building relationships with stakeholders, developing policy positions and producing briefing materials 
• Managing the consultation process and producing consultation responses in collaboration with our members and other colleagues 
• Representing the BPS on cross-sector policy groups and in external meetings with politicians and other senior stakeholders
• Building and maintaining relationships across the BPS membership, utilising member expertise and identifying opportunities for members to engage with stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with proven experience in a policy, public affairs or political capacity, who can demonstrate success in designing, leading and implementing engagement campaigns to achieve wider organisational goals.  It goes without saying that you should have a keen interest in the field of psychology and its impact upon society. Oral and written communication must be your strength, with the ability to influence, engage and build relationships with different audiences and stakeholders.

Regional Fundraising Manager (North Wales Region)/ Rheolwr Codi Arian Rhanbarthol (Rhanbarth Gogledd Cymru)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Wales’ leading cancer charity as a Fundraiser. You’ll manage raising funds across an already established North Wales region with loads of scope to generate more income and grow connections.

You’ll be joining an experienced Wales fundraising team who generate over £2.8million of annual income. Your fundraising impact is seen in people affected by cancer through the services we run, the difference to lives we make and the campaigns that make meaningful change.

You’ll be managing and building relationships across North Wales with our supporters, Friends of Tenovus groups and establishing new fundraising connections and work with teams of volunteers. You can expect to manage events such as our annual Lovelight concerts, Singathons and Breast Cancer Awareness Month to name just a few.

Your region is already warm with strong supporter connections and exciting development opportunities to grow across the region in places like Wrexham, Bangor, Llandudno, Anglesey, Mold to Barmouth and Bala.

Whilst it’d be great if you’ve done Third Sector Fundraising it isn’t a must have to be considered. You may have transferable skills when it comes to sales, customer/business development or done similar roles in areas such as: Fundraising Coordinator / Administrator, Supporter Engagement work, Income Generation, Sales, Marketing, Estate Agency, Recruitment, Event Management, Customer Service and Development

Salary: £30,000

Working Hours: 35 hours per week with flexible working

Due to the nature of our fundraising work you’ll need to be flexible at times to work evenings and weekends. Around this we work core 11am-3pm hours to flexibly suit work around your lifestyle and personal commitments and operate our work flexibly between 7am – 9pm so you can do things like the school runs or fit in wellness activities and hobbies with your working life.

Group and Communities Officer

The Role

You will drive the continuous improvement and impact of the UK-wide Stroke Group Network and community-based offers by cultivating strong relationships with volunteers and groups, working alongside groups and communities, and translating insights into targeted improvements that strengthen support for stroke survivors nationwide.

Group Network & Communities team lead the approach to supporting people affected by stroke to engage with a range of support within communities they identify with and support and empower a vast network of volunteers, a dynamic and inclusive community of over 400 stroke support groups nationwide.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Ensure community-based offers provide the best possible customer experience with a strong focus on accessibility and inclusion, aligned to Solving Inequity in Stroke approach.
• Drive forward a culture of coaching, shared learning, peer support and collaboration as a way of working.
• Work across teams and Directorates to ensure a joined-up approach to community engagement and development, including the delivery of cross-directorate spaces that facilitate shared learning, leading relationships with key internal and external partners and stakeholders.

About You

You will have a proven record of:

• Experience of working with volunteers, including the ability to coordinate, organise and deliver volunteer engagement events at scale or digitally
• Ability to take time to understand the context of our communities and groups, being approachable, and supporting thinking - always having people affected by stroke at the centre.
• Strong administration skills, with ability to develop and deliver effective processes.
• Ability to identify problems or opportunities where we can have more impact or add value for people affected by stroke, working with others to experiment and learn.

The Accommodation Advisor provides housing support, information, advice, and guidance (IAG) to men within the criminal justice system, ensuring successful resettlement into accommodation. Job Title: Deputy Service Manager 

Location: In Service based in Croydon, CR0 1EB. You will be required to work across multiple services within the area. 

Salary: £30,200

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Sunday, working across a rota which will include day and night shifts as we provide a 24 hour service.  

About the role

We are looking for a Deputy Service Manager to join our team based in Croydon, providing leadership and line management to a team of night staff which is around 10 people in total. You will provide support and supervision sessions at night, and general leadership to the team so they feel empowered to be productive and perform well within their roles. You will further ensure a quality service is delivered in line with our contractual requirements to the residents. You will be responsible for creating a psychologically informed environment (PIE) with person centred support during all hours. You will work closely with the day teams to ensure a smooth handover from the day to night. 

This service is a Forensic Mental Health provision for 27 people across 4 sites in Croydon. For your own personal safety, you will require to have access to your own transport as you will need to travel between our 4 sites during the night shift to provide managerial support to the teams. The teams support our residents with person centred support, to empower them to overcome their personal barriers with their mental health, to have greater independence and fulfilled living. The service is responsible for holding various activities, group sessions, and one to one support to enable residents to build their personal skills and experiences to achieve their goals. 

The role includes:

• Line Management and Leadership, supporting your team providing advice, guidance and support throughout their employment lifecycle
• Support the Service Manager in leading the day to day operational delivery of the service
• Risk Management ownership, ensuring processes and policies are followed
• Property and Housing Management, ensuring the accommodation meets our requirements, and repairs and maintenance are regularly reported and completed
• Financial Management, including petty cash and budget management
• Contract management and Internal auditing, admin, and general other duties as required.

Job Purpose

Carers Manchester Contact Point (CMCP) is the first point of contact for unpaid carers seeking information, advice and support to help them with their caring role.

The service delivers a free confidential helpline for carers weekdays (Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm). These times are subject to change, based on the needs and requirements of carers using the service.

The aim of this role is to be part of a team providing a comprehensive information, advice and support to carers in Manchester. The post holder will work alongside colleagues from Gaddum and potentially other organisations to be the first contact in a busy service providing advice via a telephone advice line and managing referrals made through digital sources. They will provide information and advice and refer more complex issues to the appropriate agencies delivering the Manchester Carers Pathway.

Key responsibilities 

Advice giving

• Answering telephone calls into a central helpline offering support and guidance to unpaid carers in Manchester.
• Provide relevant and meaningful support and information to unpaid carers utilising internal and external resources.
• Inform carers about carers assessments and refer where necessary.
• Inform carers about emergency grants available and refer where necessary.
• Ensure all advice and support given is delivered in a timely manner to suit the needs of carers calling the helpline whilst balancing waiting callers.

Follow-up support

• Refer unpaid carers to local services to access local and culturally appropriate support in their area.
• Refer carers to Adult Social Care for Carers Assessments to discuss and improve their caring situation.
• Signpost carers to relevant services in Manchester suited to their individual need.
• Complete relevant grant applications for carers using the service where needed.
• Use Carers Manchester Contact Point and other reliable and accurate resources to find, interpret and communicate relevant information to carers
• Research and explore options and implications so that carers can make informed decisions.
• Write and maintain detailed case records for all casework completed.
• Collect required data for statistical monitoring and report preparation.
• Complete the required training to comply with quality assurance processes.

The Willow Major Events Team hosts a range of events to engage Willow’s key supporters. These range in large-scale events such as the Willow Ball and London Football Awards, to smaller more intimate events such as Golf and Shoot Days.

Job purpose

• This role will support the delivery of Willow’s programme of Major Events, as well as supporting third party events, ensuring that these promote and present Willow in a professional and compelling manner, maximising opportunities for donor cultivation, fundraising and maximising income generation.
• To work with the Events Manager on delivering events to an exceptional standard.
• To lead on auction procurement and fulfilment to maximise fundraising revenue.

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a vibrant and growing charity delivering life changing nautical adventure for young people through the Sea Cadets to give them the best possible head start in life. Working with our staff, cadets, and volunteers, we have built a vision and five-year strategy to take us forward and further improve the astounding contribution already made through our work to the lives of thousands of young people and seafarers, while fully supporting our volunteers who are vital to our success.

We are currently looking for an OTW Project Assistant who will support the delivery of the On The Water project at one of our boating stations in Birmingham. The project provides young people from outside Sea Cadets, age 9-14, the opportunity to get on the water, learn new skills and build confidence through boating activity. This is a very varied and rewarding role that requires someone who is self-motivated, inspiring, organized, creative, tenacious, positive, IT competent and with a real interest in people with a attention to detail and real enthusiasm for the project.

Project delivery takes place between 29 July 2024 and 30 August 2025 when the young people will be attending boating sessions. During this busy time the Project Assistant will be based at the boat station each day to complete registration, manage group change overs, track project targets, encourage survey completion and fill booking gaps. Prior to delivery the role will be focused on supporting the booking process and engaging in community outreach. Once delivery is complete, the Project Assistant role will then predominantly be supporting the evaluation and data collection as well as supporting participants to join their local Sea Cadet unit.
