The Head of Finance is a key member of Tara Theatre’s senior management team, overseeing the company’s financial processes and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. They will report to Alys Beider, Tara’s new Executive Director and Joint Chief Executive and support with strategic long-term financial and business planning as well as annual and quarterly budgeting.

They are responsible for maintaining the company accounts, preparing quarterly management accounts, cashflow forecasts and financial reports and analysis for the executive team and the board of trustees.

Tara Theatre is a company limited by guarantee and a charity. It has two trading subsidiaries, Tara Productions and Tara Enterprises. We currently have an annual turnover of circa £1 million. We manage our finances and payroll in-house, currently using Xero.

As our Head of Finance, you may have a background in the arts and culture sector, however we are open to a range of skillsets gained from working in business or charity environments and encourage applications from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and lived experiences.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assist the Assistant Director and Director, International Fundraising, with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Fundraising Events Department

• Plan, organise, manage, and attend fundraising events held by PETA and PETA entities

• Exercise a lead role in overseeing aspects of PETA and PETA entity fundraising events, both in-person and virtual

About the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and experienced sports and challenge fundraiser, to deliver a review of our sports and challenge events programme, identifying new opportunities to grow our income.

Working closely with the Head of Individual Giving and Fundraising Campaigns, you will develop strategies and bring new ideas to grow and develop this programme, potentially including community events – to deliver significant growth in income over the next 5 years.

In this feasibility review, you will analyse our past performance including in well-established, externally organised activities such as marathons and third-party challenge events, and our partner events such as the Terry Fox Runs. You will also assess the feasibility of developing and launching our own-branded events.

During the review, you will line-manage the Sports and Challenge Events Officer to maintain and deliver our current successful events programme and work together on the feasibility review to identify new opportunities for innovation and ways to increase participation. 

You will build key relationships across the department and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, to identify and work through new ways to grow participation and increase fundraising income.

At the end of the review, you will present your findings, making recommendations on the key components for a future sports and challenge programme that reflect our ambitions for growth, with plans to deliver it.

This is initially a fixed term project contract. There is potential for the role to become permanent dependent on the direction and outcomes of the review.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will lead a review of our sports and challenge events programme, including third-party activities such as marathons and challenge events, using data to analyse past performance (income and ROI) and assess the feasibility for developing our own-brand sports, challenge or community events – whilst maintaining the success our current programme of activities.

• Review, develop and prepare plans to deliver a profitable, engaging and effective annual programmes of sports, challenge and community event opportunities.

• Be responsible for managing and the personal development of your team, to deliver their campaigns and activities, to agreed objectives and KPIs.

You may have thought that leprosy is an ancient Biblical disease, but today someone is diagnosed with leprosy every two minutes. It is a disease of poverty, striking the most vulnerable. Stigma and discrimination mean many people with leprosy hide their symptoms for as long as possible, living in terrible fear of what will happen to them. But without fast treatment, leprosy can cause blindness and disable hands and feet. Rejection, isolation, hopelessness. We believe that this is not how God wants people to live. The Leprosy Mission (TLM) is the world’s largest leprosy-focused organisation, a pioneer in our field, with over 150 years’ experience serving people affected by this disease. We are a leading international development charity, working in nine countries across Africa and Asia. We are Christ-centered, following His leading to defeat leprosy and transform lives.

We are looking for an inspirational communicator to be the face of The Leprosy Mission. You’ll be working from home, with extensive travel across your region. As part of a fun and supportive team, you’ll be changing the lives of people who have been rejected by society. We have a culture of growing and learning together, providing extensive training in fundraising and international development. You’ll also have opportunities to visit projects overseas and see our work first hand.

We’re looking for:

• A relational public speaker, experienced in engaging audiences including churches and community groups
• Proven success in fundraising or sales
• A confident networker
• Experience of managing volunteers
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A willingness to work on Sundays and evenings as required, and occasional Saturdays
• The ability to develop and deliver a regional fundraising strategy

TLM is an explicitly Christian charity, serving those of all faiths and none. There is an occupational requirement for the Community Partnerships Manager to be a committed Christian as you will be preaching and speaking in supporting churches.

What the job offers 

This is an exciting new post at our charity to take forward our Strategy to expand our service support and reach more people in need.  You’ll be responsible for recruiting and on-boarding a diverse team of volunteers who contribute to SLT’s programmes. You won’t be managing volunteers at activities – that’s handled by other team members – but you will make sure that all volunteers feel welcomed, trained, supported and valued. You will provide regular supervision outside activities and work with staff to develop inclusive, consistent volunteering practices across the charity. 

Who we are seeking 

We’re looking for someone with a passion for the value of volunteering, who can bring energy and initiative to develop our volunteer workforce.  You will have a proven track record of supporting volunteers in a community/social care setting. You will have ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues across teams. You will have confidence in delivering inductions and facilitating small group supervision sessions. You will demonstrate good organisational and communication skills, including the ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.  You will be willing to undertake occasional evening work for volunteer availability.
