The IS Support Manager oversees daily operations ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. In this role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations but also for elevating the quality and efficiency of technical support services provided.

The successful candidate will coordinate with various departments across the Gallery including the IS team, working closely with both technical and non-technical teams to provide a reliable, responsive, and proactive service experience.

Job Description

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Senior Research Manager to manage the monitoring, evaluation and learning activities of a high profile National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio of translational, clinical and applied health research infrastructure funding schemes. 

Job Purpose 
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the post holder will work closely with the rest of the infrastructure team (especially the Programme Leads and Senior Research Managers who are responsible for the development and management of the infrastructure schemes), and with Data Analytics colleagues (who are responsible for designing systems for capturing, cleaning and presenting data), to manage the infrastructure reporting and evaluation activities. At an award level, you will develop, improve and maintain monitoring and reporting processes, and at a scheme level, you will implement monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches, including overseeing the delivery and/or commissioning of impact evaluations. You will support a wider programme around visibility and the strategic use of data within infrastructure, considering links to policy directives around Busting Bureaucracy, the developing NIHR digital strategy and system operability issues with NHS and University systems. 

You will be adept at dealing with an array of data sources (metrics, narrative and financial reporting information), have a good understanding of research impact, an understanding of the routes to achieving it, and how to apply monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches to generate insight that can evidence impact and support continuous improvement of scheme funding and support processes. You will have experience of managing complex projects, knowledge of the UK’s research environment and political agenda, and honed skills in stakeholder management. You will be a strategic thinker, capable of seeing the issues and solutions from a number of different stakeholder perspectives to see the bigger picture. You will be comfortable dealing with complexity and developing an approach to balance the needs of different stakeholders. You will be a team player, able to work in close partnership with a number of teams at NIHR and the DHSC.

Key Accountabilities:

• Manage elements of the infrastructure monitoring processes: you will manage parts of the infrastructure reporting process both internally at the technical systems level and externally with users to support training and propose improvements. You will work with others to develop new reporting processes (for new awards), maintain existing annual and quarterly reporting, support the review of submitted reports by the team and the production of feedback, and drive process improvements through a continuous improvement cycle.

• Development of reporting outputs: support quantitative and qualitative data interrogation in projects across the infrastructure. Interrogating data to support strategic reviews, and, where feasible and appropriate, designing visual dashboards of progress using data collected and collated for reporting purposes. Also draw on award level reported data to feed into strategic scheme level evaluations and reviews, to produce impact case studies, and to feed into organisational level learning and reporting. This work will help articulate the contribution of the NIHR infrastructure to the wider health and social care system as well as feeding into broader NIHR initiatives such as the NIHR Impact Programme.

• Scheme reviews: support the delivery of scheme mid-term reviews and evaluations, working closely with the infrastructure team’s Senior Research Managers responsible for specific schemes and the central Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team to design and plan an appropriate review process for individual schemes.

• Stakeholder engagement: through appropriate stakeholder engagement, developing a sound understanding of data needs, minimising additional requirements of key stakeholders and understanding the types of reporting outputs/feedback that would provide the greatest utility for accountability and learning purposes. Proactively share key learnings across the infrastructure team and with wider stakeholder groups as appropriate.

• Flexible support to the team:  flexible approach to work tasks with ability to ‘muck in’ and provide support on additional tasks across the team during busy times.

Line Management:

• The post holder will be responsible for the line management of one Research Manager and will matrix manage other team members, where appropriate.

Qualifications

Experience and Technical Skills

Required Criteria: 

• A PhD degree in biomedical or health sciences research (or significant equivalent sector experience)
• Experience of implementation or management of monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches including impact assessment and reporting, ideally within health and care research
• Data collection, collation and analysis skills using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
• Current knowledge of the UK’s health and care research and policy landscape
• Strategic thinker able to interpret complex information while having a clear view of the “big picture”
• Solutions orientated with evidence of delivering projects, requiring evidence synthesis, report writing and developing implementable recommendations

Desirable Criteria:

• Specialist training/knowledge in monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches and methods
• Experience of authoring high quality impact reports and case study reports for a variety of technical and general audiences
• Experience of developing electronic dashboards using visualisation tools such as Qlik Sense, Looker Studio or equivalents
• Line management and staff development experience

JOB SUMMARY:

 To deputise for IMC UK Director of Finance and work closely with budget holders and counterparts in Split and LA to provide 'real time' support and analysis, that will assist budget holders and IMC UK in decision-making.

Manage the day to day financial activities of International Medical Corps UK with specific focus on financial management, budgeting and corporate financial planning, and ensuring that the finance team is achieving expected deliverables timely and accurately. 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning

1. Active participation in drafting IMC UK annual budget for board of Trustees approval.

2. Monthly Updates of Rolling Forecast of IMC UK corporate costs. As the responsible finance officer train and regularly collaborate with Budget Managers to ensure that corporate forecasts are accurate, relevant and reliable by ensuring that; b), to confirm that:

2.1.  Staff cost projections – work in collaboration with HR team to ensure that IMC UK staff projections include  hire plans, transfer plans, allocation plans, field deployment, terminations, promotions etc.

2.2 HQ Non Labour Cost Projections – monthly review and cost projections should be updated to reflect IMC UK’s latest plans; For example, Travel budgets should be updated if no travel has taken place during the month and not likely to happen in next 2 months. Professional fees - are there valid consultancy agreements in place or is it still in the pipeline and the lag should be built into.

2.3. Provide SFD with latest IMC UK corporate expenditure position with the following details:

 - Movement on IMC UK costs vs IMC costs

 - Breakdown of fixed costs vs variable costs under IMC UK pipeline

 - New positions projected and salary costs allocations;

 - Service fee analysis by departments and seek explanations on movements from HQ teams of IMC UK affiliates;

 - Work with SFD to ensure IMC UK SMT approval on service fees is obtained;

Financial Control

3. Bookkeeping. Ensure that accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank & general ledger modules are maintained timely & accurately. Ensure that the following are available on file:

3.1. Monthly reconciliation of  payroll data,

3.2. Reconciliation of other control accounts including payroll, accruals, prepayment;

4. Internal Control & Regulations.  Ensure that all relevant procedures are maintained in relation  to a) Procurement process, b) Financial procedures & approvals, c) Sanctions checks d) HMRC Tax - Payroll, Dispensation & VAT tax issues and e) Pensions are adhered to.

4.1. Finance manager shall prepare, plan and deliver training to all relevant staff members on IMC UK's financial,  approval  and allocation processes.

4.2. Maintain an exceptions register with incidences where the proper procedures have not been observed.

5. Banking & Cash Projections. To monitor and update the Finance Director on

5.1 IMC UK banking and sanctions compliance requirements are updated and adhered to;

5.2 IMC UK Cash requirements projections are updated on a monthly basis on the last day of the month;

5.3 intercompany settlements are reviewed and undertaken on a timely manner

5.4  Summary of bank charges by IMC UK bankers are monitored  on a regular basis;

6. FOREX.

6.1.  Work with finance team to ensure that funds in other currencies are transferred into IMC UK functional currency – USD on an urgent basis. 

6.2 liaise with IMC UK bankers to offer effective solutions for transfers to sanctioned countries;

7. Payroll. 

7.1 Staff Cost projections.  Proactively work with HR, to provide input on cost implications for new hires; and update IMC UK’s financial projections systems with cost projections on all changes including  salary changes, increment implementation, benefits and deductions, vacation leaves pay, off-boarding of employees, and pension management.

7.2.  Posting monthly payroll costs to the ledgers.

7.3. Regular monthly payroll reconciliation with differences shared with SFD.

8. Pensions.  –

8.1 Effectively manage IMC UK Pensions Plan contributions in collaboration with HR. 

8.2 Ensure  appropriate and timely pensions contributions are made to pension provider. 

9. Public Donations – with collaboration with the Fundraising team, ensure accurate classifications and coding of restricted & unrestricted funds received;  For new appeals request for finance codes from IMC Finance team.

Financial Reporting

10. Monthly SMT report.  Produce by set date with analysis on income projections, expenditure projections, corporate cost breakdown, donor payments receivables, donor disallowed costs, intercompany balances and variance analysis and clarifications from relevant teams.  The following reports are reviewed to prepare the monthly reports:

• Summary pipeline report

• Shortfall Reports

• DR GR Reports

• Summary of cash inflow in IMC UK bank accounts fortnightly;

• Intercompany balance

• Services fees

11. Quarterly Management Accounts.  Produce within set timeline for board distribution following FD review. The Quarterly Management Account should be accompanied with the following details:

11.1. Valid variance analysis with input from operations and International Finance team

11.2. Detailed breakdown of unrestricted funds received and sources and updated unrestricted income projection;

11.3. Summary of key events affecting the figures reported;

12. Assets –

12.1 Regular update of IMC UK Asset list and annual update to IMC UK asset list with obsolete items;

12.2 VfM is achieved through competitive bidding process

Statutory Audit

13. Provide active support and planning in annual statutory audit undertaken on the company accounts, including:

13.1 assist with drafting of the financial statements for audit;

13.2 analysing and reconciling the underlying reports for the audit preparations;

13.3 Create audit file with back-up transaction details;

1. 13.4 Liaise with other corporate offices to provide inputs;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A recognized Accountancy qualification and/or related degree including a detailed technical knowledge of UK Financial legislation.

• Experience managing all aspects of financial statements from month end close to preparing financial statements / annual accounts and presentations for boards in a corporate headquarters environment

• Experience of working in the non-governmental sector at HQ level a plus Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop a team; 

• Experience of working in a similar multi- HQ set-up an advantage.

• Ability to actively influence day to day decisions, shaping strategy and the direction of the business

• Ability to demonstrate initiative, be proactive and offer a solution-oriented approach

• Self-motivated, positive attitude, flexible and adaptable to the needs of team and organisations

• Managing the consultations, admissions, branding, marketing, FF&E and uniform of all new schools
• Providing professional services to the individual schools and ensuring the Federation complies with relevant property legislation, regulations and guidance

• Assisting with the framework for all estates related statutory elements, including oversight of the implementation and reporting of audits

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Strategic Reporting

· Manage engagement with Heads of Department, programme leads, and key stakeholders to shape and align in-year milestones across strategic initiatives, ensuring cohesive delivery of organisational priorities.

· Conduct high-level analysis of milestone data to identify strategic opportunities, interdependencies, and key internal and external drivers. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to build support for integrated ways of working and ensure consistent communication across teams.

· Deliver strategic progress reporting at key intervals throughout the year, monitoring progress against milestones. Present key findings and forward-looking recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team and Heads of Department to inform decision-making.

· Develop clear, engaging, and informative reports for internal audiences that effectively communicate progress and priorities, helping to ensure the successful delivery of ARUK’s strategy.

· Proactively identify emerging risks to strategic delivery, assess their implications, and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to senior stakeholders on mitigating actions and contingency planning.

Supporting the Delivery of Our Organisational Strategy

· Manage the coordination of ARUK’s annual planning and budgeting process in collaboration with the Head of Programme Management and Director of Strategy & Governance. Take day-to-day ownership of the process, ensuring effective communication and engagement across all levels of the organisation.

· Work closely with the Head of Programme Management and key stakeholders to assess and improve organisational structures and ways of working, with a focus on enhancing cross-team collaboration and the effectiveness of strategic working groups.

· Undertake horizon scanning and sector research to identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities relevant to strategy development and delivery.

· Support the development of strategic capability across the organisation by partnering with teams on their planning and strategy work, helping embed structured, forward-looking thinking.

· Collaborate with external consultants and partners to support the delivery of strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

· Communicating About Our Organisational Strategy

· Support the Head of Programme Management and Director of Strategy & Governance in engaging employees across the organisation in the delivery of our strategy, helping to create clarity and alignment.

· Work with managers and Heads of Department to build support for updated or new ways of working that enable more effective strategy execution.

· Ensure that strategy-related communications are clear, timely, and relevant—particularly for managers—so they can effectively translate strategic goals into team-level action.

Additional Information:

Ways of working:  As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) brings together 15 leading UK aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of humanitarian crisis overseas. This role is offered on a hybrid contract giving you the opportunity to also work from home three days a week.

Purpose of Role

The Digital Fundraising Growth Manager will manage our digital paid media planning and delivery, driving audience engagement at all stages of the marketing funnel, specifically with the aim of delivering growth in our supporter base and income.

The post holder will directly oversee all digital paid media activity in line with agreed campaign and year round engagement and fundraising strategies and plans, including but not limited to social media advertising, search marketing, programmatic display, and emerging channels ensuring plans are fully integrated with other engagement and fundraising activity (including owned and earned media across all channels and wider organisational efforts).

Working closely with internal teams and external agencies, you will drive digital fundraising performance across a range of campaign and product offers, optimising media spend; creative and supporter journeys using data-driven insights informed by a rapid and robust test and learn methodology to ensure our investments are optimised for performance.

Key responsibilities:

Plan and deliver strategically aligned digital fundraising activity, focussed for the relevant target audiences:

· Contribute to the planning and delivery of a comprehensive digital growth strategy, with specific responsibility for Comic Relief’s paid media across platforms such as Meta, Google, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging channels.

· Directly manage and optimise paid media campaigns to drive audience acquisition, engagement, and fundraising income, innovating and testing new approaches alongside tried and tested methods.

· Collaborate with internal teams to align and integrate paid media activity with broader fundraising and engagement objectives and activity.

· Manage; direct and work with media agencies and platform partners to ensure value for money from our paid media investments. 

· Use data-driven insights to continuously improve campaign performance, leveraging analytics tools and A/B testing methodologies.

· Monitor industry trends and emerging digital platforms to explore new opportunities for audience growth.

· Own budget planning, forecasting, and reporting for all paid media activities.

· Support in developing attribution models and performance tracking to measure the impact of paid digital activity on overall fundraising and supporter base growth. 

Play an active part in the wider success of our fundraising and engagement strategy by:

· Contributing to the development of team wide annual plans and budgets, using learning and insight to make recommendations that facilitate in year and long-term income and supporter base growth.

· Proactively participate in, and as required, lead aspects of wider team planning activities.

· Keep abreast of the fundraising marketplace and wider legislative and regulatory landscape to identify opportunities to enhance Comic Relief’s digital fundraising activities and ensure compliance of our digital paid media activity. 

· Play an active role in the Fundraising & PR Team, working collaboratively to enable inclusivity and diversity in order to drive high performance and an action-oriented culture.

· Undertake and manage ad-hoc duties as needed, ensuring alignment with the scope and responsibilities of the role.

Essential criteria

· Proven experience in paid digital media management, ideally in a growth-focused role within a charity, agency, or brand.

· Technical expertise:

- Demonstrable experience using digital advertising platforms, including Meta Ads, Google Ads, TikTok, YouTube, and programmatic display.

- Experience in audience acquisition and growth strategies, particularly in driving engagement and fundraising through digital channels.

- Excellent data analysis skills with experience using tools like Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and campaign performance dashboards.

· Ability to manage multiple campaigns and projects simultaneously, deploying excellent project management, in a fast-paced environment, able to identify risks, issues and dependencies within a project / campaign and to use this information to inform decision making in a timely and accurate way.

· Understanding of and experience of using a CRM system and related analytics or marketing tools. 

· Experience of annual planning and year-round budget management, including ability to set detailed budgets and KPIs, reforecast and proactively manage campaign budgets.

· Experience of and capability in briefing and analysing complex data and insight information to produce clear briefs and effective marketing plans.

· Experience of managing marketing planning and tracking, including media planning KPIs and metrics across online and offline channels, and creating campaign alignment and channel integration to optimise campaigns with a focus on income generation.

The Role

Purpose of the Role 

The HR Manager plays a key leadership role, working on, and closely with, the management team to ensure effective HR support across the organisation.
