Rowans Hospice Charity provides free care and support to adults and their families living in the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire region who have a life-limiting illness. Established in 1994, our income is generated by ongoing support of the local community, donations, legacies, fundraising and through our retail shops.

Many people think that hospices are all about dying, but through our many different services, we support people to live as well as they can with their illness. From the moment of diagnosis through to bereavement support. Our Living Well Services put an emphasis on living with a life-limiting illness and patients and carers can drop in and gain advice and support to maintain individuals’ resilience.

The Hospice is also supported by an assembly of volunteers, from various backgrounds and ages who are crucial in supporting the teams to ensure people live well to the end of their life and attain a good death within a caring and compassionate environment.

The Role

To provide high-level, proactive, and confidential administrative and executive support to the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees. This role ensures the efficient coordination of meetings, communications and strategic initiatives by managing schedules, preparing documentation and facilitating effective information flow. The EA acts as a key point of contact between internal and external stakeholders, supporting the governance and operational effectiveness of the Charity at the highest levels.

You will be the lead administrator for governance, ensuring all statutory and regulatory obligations are met, whilst also supporting the effective running of executive meetings, day-to-day leadership functions and education placements.

Key Responsibilities include (but not limited to – see Job Description for further information)

• Provide PA support to the Chair, Deputy CEO, Company Secretary and SLT, including diary management, correspondence, travel, and meeting coordination
• Provide efficient and professional support to the Board of Trustees and delegated committees, including scheduling, producing annual meeting calendars, preparing agendas, circulating papers, taking accurate minutes and following up on actions
• Provide administrative and logistical support for Doctors and Nursing Student placements
• Develop and maintain efficient systems and processes for executive administration

The ideal candidate will have:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role ideally in a charity
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Professional and confident interpersonal manner
• Ability to draft high-quality correspondence and reports
• Experience in formal minute-taking and senior board level

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As a senior member of Hestia's operations team, your role is pivotal in ensuring the effective delivery of the organisation's strategic objectives. You will contribute to the development of Hestia's strategic goals and annual planning processes, translating these into a comprehensive Area Plan that aligns with the organisation's values and aims. This plan should be delivered effectively across services, with a focus on continuous improvement and outcome-driven service delivery. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance service performance through a SMART annual business plan. Ensuring adherence to Hestia's policies and procedures is essential, as is contributing to their ongoing refinement. Collaboration with the New Business and Development Team is key to identifying new opportunities, supporting tender submissions, and managing the integration of new services with careful planning and capacity assessment.

Building strong partnerships with voluntary and statutory sector providers is crucial to fostering best practices and a collaborative approach to service planning. You will ensure services meet contractual and legal obligations through regular audits and robust health and safety systems. Additionally, you will work with internal teams to shape external messaging and influence decision-making at both local and central levels.Effective resource management is a core aspect of the role. You will plan and manage budgets, ensuring financial accountability and alignment with projected figures. This includes making optimal use of staff, property, equipment, and IT resources. As a leader, you will provide clear direction and support to local service managers, fostering a high-performing team culture. You'll ensure managers are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and best practices, and that staff development needs are met through structured induction and training.

Performance management is integral, with expectations and standards clearly communicated and supported through coaching and supervision. You will model person-centred, recovery-focused approaches and ensure staff are regularly supervised and performance is reviewed. Recruitment must be proactive and aligned with funding contracts, in collaboration with HR and service users. Service quality is paramount. You will ensure service users' needs and aspirations are accurately assessed and that they have a voice in shaping service delivery. Regular quality audits and performance reporting will inform strategic decisions and highlight risks and opportunities. You'll promote service user involvement and co-production, working closely with relevant teams to embed these principles.

Financial oversight includes setting annual budgets with the Directorate and Finance teams, ensuring efficient use of resources and high standards in financial and administrative processes. You will implement recommendations from safeguarding reviews and maintain accreditation standards for domestic abuse services. Housing management responsibilities include ensuring compliance with operational policies, managing rental income, voids, arrears, and maintenance. Health and safety audits and risk assessments must be conducted within organisational timeframes. You'll liaise with partners on tenancy matters and ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting. Finally, you will maintain strong communication through regular meetings with managers, ensuring alignment and accountability across all areas of responsibility.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. The ideal candidate will have a proven senior-level track record in leading and delivering recovery-focused and trauma-informed services within a dispersed organisational structure. They will demonstrate the ability to balance the demands of delivering high-quality services that meet regulatory standards while remaining financially sustainable. Extensive experience in managing operational teams and driving performance improvements is essential. Success in securing and implementing new business opportunities is a key requirement, alongside experience in managing teams across multiple sites. The role demands a strong background in organisational change and service reconfiguration, as well as business and financial planning, including oversight of significant budgets. The candidate should also have a history of designing and delivering innovative service models and managing complex contract negotiations with commissioners.

A deep understanding of housing management and experience supporting a wide range of service user needs is vital. The candidate must be passionate about Hestia's mission and capable of inspiring and motivating staff at all levels. They should be skilled in empowering teams, fostering high performance, and adapting their management style to suit different situations whether user-led or directive.
Strategic thinking is crucial, with the ability to analyse data, trends, and risks to position the organisation for success. The candidate must be able to build rapport with service users and their families, instilling confidence and trust. Establishing credibility with commissioners and external stakeholders quickly is also important.

Experience in managing domestic abuse services and overseeing local project and service managers is required. The candidate should be familiar with the strategic landscape of care and support services and understand its implications for the organisation. They must have demonstrable experience in contract management, budget oversight, and knowledge of legislation and best practices in care, health, support, and community engagement.

The ability to transform underperforming services and support staff through robust improvement plans is essential. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of supporting women and children affected by all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG). They must be capable of managing diverse teams with varied skill sets and working independently within policy frameworks.

Strong communication skills are required, along with a high level of financial and commercial acumen. The candidate should possess a working knowledge of the legal framework for protecting vulnerable adults and children and understand the importance of outcome-focused service delivery. A solid grasp of safeguarding issues and the ability to respond appropriately is also necessary. Proficiency in administration and IT communication tools will support effective performance in this role.

Context and purpose of role

At the heart of the Ramblers lies our community of over 100,000 members and supporters, enabling us to fulfil our charitable mission across the length and breadth of Great Britain.

You will drive the growth of the organisation's membership and supporter base through strategic marketing, outreach, and engagement efforts.

This role is vital for expanding the Ramblers reach, enhancing its financial stability, and strengthening its community impact. You will develop and implement effective acquisition strategies, engage potential members and supporters, and foster long-term relationships aligned with the organisation's mission and values. You are a subject-matter expert in fundraising acquisition and digital marketing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the Ramblers membership acquisition programme to attract and retain new members and supporters. This includes integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns (including digital and face-to-face) and a test-and-learn approach to optimise conversion rates, sales, ROI and life-time value, with support from the Head of Member and Supporter Experience. At the Ramblers our current key acquisition channels are Digital Marketing, telemarketing and private site.
• Manage our welcome and reactivation programmes (email, mail and telephone).
• Using evidence-based insights, work with the Head of Member and Supporter Experience to evolve the membership proposition (embedding Ramblers new digital assets, platforms, products, offers) to enhance our relevance and reach.
• Manage the acquisition budget of c£500k, producing timely reports to the Head of Member and Supporter Experience on income, expenditure and KPIs to monitor performance against plans. Lead the reforecast process for key lines accountable for and support the budget process.
• Lead key acquisition projects across the organisation, delivering to time and budget.
• Ensure regulatory compliance is embedded across team processes and communications in areas such as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), Gift Aid, and the Fundraising Regulator. Ensure any agencies used adhere to the high standards we set.
• Work across teams  to develop and deliver engaging supporter journeys that enhance and deepen supporters’ experience of the Ramblers.
• Agency and supplier management – manage and develop strategic relationships with our agencies, including the management of SLAs and performance measures, ensuring consistently high levels of performance.
• Consult, equip and support the Ramblers GB-wide network of volunteer ‘membership ambassadors’ providing tools and resources to grow membership.

• Digitally savvy, with knowledge and experience in testing new ideas through digital channels and an early adopter of new technology and digital products and platforms.
• Proven experience in analysing complex data and building testing plans to inform strategic decisions and solve complex problems.

Desirable:

• A proven track record (more than 2 years’ experience) in recruiting new supporters or members to a charity.
• Experience of working with telemarketing agencies.
• Experience of Private site or using dialogue approaches to recruitment.
• Experience in developing multi-channel supporter journeys for new supporters/members.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk & Assurance Manager to join our Chief Executive Office. You will provide high quality support to the Head of Audit, Risk & Governance in the implementation and oversight of effective risk management and assurance policies and procedures for the whole organisation.

Role Requirements

• Your main objectives is to support the board and senior leadership team in ensuring the charity continues to deliver high-quality, safe, effective and financially sustainable services for vulnerable children now and in the longer-term;
• Under the guidance of the Head of Risk, Audit & Governance, and in collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation, coordinate and manage the implementation and ongoing development of the charity’s risk management framework; risk policies, risk appetite statement; “risk universe” and board assurance framework / assurance map;
• Undertake deep dive risk assessments and provide assurance over the effectiveness of internal controls from time to time as required by Audit & Risk Committee;
• Undertake a quarterly review of key financial controls and report findings to the Finance, Finance, Investments & Resources Committee and Audit & Risk Committee;
• Monitor and report on the implementation of agreed management actions designed to strengthen risk mitigation strategies / close compliance gaps and provide assurance on these to SLT and trustees.
• Prepare the risk update for SLT, the board and each of its committees including risk heat maps and key risk indicators for the charity’s principal risks.
• Establish effective working relationships with other second line risk, quality and compliance functions and periodically monitor the effectiveness of their activities.
• Liaise with SLT directors to ensure departmental risk registers are in place and appropriately maintained.
• Facilitate risk workshops and provide online training on TCT’s risk management policy and procedures. Meet regularly with risk owners to review risk responses and progress with actions.  Ensure there is an effective process of escalation of significant risks to SLT and trustees;
• Prepare an annual review of the effectiveness of internal control and risk management for the Audit & Risk Committee;

• Entrepreneurial and innovative, able to identify revenue opportunities and drive their delivery.

About the Role

As a VAWG Caseworker, you will provide structured, tailored support plans based on holistic assessments for individuals affected by crime. These will be predominantly female victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking, however, could be victims of any crime or gender. You will make initial contact with victims via the telephone, then tailor the support to the Victims preferences i.e. home visits or via conference calls, to explain our services, and assess the impact of crime. Your responsibilities will include developing, delivering, and monitoring safety and support plans, providing resources, interventions, and information to service users.

As a Caseworker you will:

• Manage a caseload of self-referred & referred service users, providing information & advocacy to help them navigate the criminal justice process.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Partnerships

You will have responsibility for developing a new strategy for high-net-worth individual support and you will lead the delivery of this strategy to secure high-value philanthropic partnerships under the responsibility of the Global Specialist in Major Giving.

Capital Campaign

Our new Capital Campaign will be an invaluable tool for you in developing funding from high-net-worth individuals in the UK. You will lead on its launch and recruit a Campaign Committee, stewarding them to deliver results.

Relationship Management

You will lead on the development and stewardship of long-term relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and family foundations.

Income Growth

You will drive the growth of an existing pipeline of high-net-worth individuals and develop this pipeline with new supporters from our individual giving stream and philanthropists who are new to HI, to secure significant gifts.

Collaboration

You will work closely with HI's Global Specialist in Major Giving, HI UK Trustees, our Federal Major Giving team, and international colleagues, to develop compelling proposals and provide timely impact reporting.

Stewardship

You will ensure exceptional donor stewardship and provide a high-quality experience for supporters at every stage of engagement.

Cultivation events

You will initiate and run high quality cultivation events for your donors and prospects, to form part of their stewardship journey.

Data Management

You will accurately manage donor records, communications, and reporting through our CRM.

Other duties

· Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with HI UK colleagues, the Federal fundraising and communication teams, and Major Giving counterparts in other HI national associations in Europe and North America.

As a Senior IDVA you will be:

• The main purpose of the job is to effectively manage and develop a high quality, innovative and pro-active domestic abuse service for victims and their children, including those at highest risk. • Develop your team and address their individual development/performance needs, set individual and team objectives and undertake annual appraisals.

You will need:

• To be successful in this role, you will need to have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse, including the impact on victims and their children, and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding practice and legislation relating to equal opportunities and diversity, inclusivity, safeguarding and risk assessments.
• Experience managing the delivery of domestic abuse services and managerial experience will also be necessary as well as having a thorough understanding of IDVA work.
• A proven ability to confidently use various IT systems including Case Management, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Outlook and other online applications/platforms.

About the Role

As a VAWG Caseworker, you will provide structured, tailored support plans based on holistic assessments for individuals affected by crime. • Authorise Fellowship grant payments for overseas learning, ensuring compliance with Fellowship model guidelines and organisational policies.

Collaboration and Engagement

• Contribute to the design of new Fellowship programmes, led by the Engagement team, and lead on operationalising these programmes during the application cycle.
• Continue to develop your own knowledge to ensure applicants and Fellows receive high-quality support and guidance throughout the process.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of the Fellowship programme.
• Represent TCF at Fellow-led and other relevant sector events as appropriate.

Safeguarding, EDI, and Fellowship Model

• Act as a member of the Designated Safeguarding Team, ensuring compliance and best practice.
• Lead on embedding EDI principles throughout the Fellowship model, working with the Chief Executive, Head of Activate and People and Culture Manager to ensure that accessibility, fairness and inclusivity are built into every stage of the process.
• Work with the Fellowship Director to continually enhance the candidate and panellist experience.
• Partner with the Salesforce team to ensure systems and processes support the successful programme delivery.
• Stay informed of sector trends, research, and innovative and equitable approaches to supporting individuals to learn and grow, applying learning to TCF’s work.
• Work with the Fellowship Manager and team to ensure risk assessments, insurance and safety plans for Fellows’ travel and events are proportionate, meet best practice and are compliant.
• Maintain awareness of global and societal trends that may impact Fellows’ safety and/or the design of the Fellowship model.

Leadership and Team Management

• Line manage the Fellowship Manager and Fellowship Officer, supporting their development and performance in delivering team and organisational objectives.
• Work closely with the Fellowship Director and Head of Activate to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive team culture, encouraging innovation, reflective practice and shared learning.

General

• Ensure all Fellowship programme activity complies with organisational policies, safeguarding requirements, GDPR, and data protection standards.
• Contribute to organisational initiatives and cross-team projects, supporting the wider strategic goals of The Churchill Fellowship.
• This role may occasionally require working outside standard hours, to support Fellowship interviews, events, or external engagements.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as required to support the effective running of the Fellowship programme and the organisation.

• Salary - £55,000.00 per annum (5 days per week/36.5 hours)

We have embraced the benefits of working from home and at the same time, we value the contribution of face-to-face contact in building teamwork, collaborating with your colleagues, exchanging ideas and know-how, and for work efficiency. We therefore operate a hybrid working policy, where staff can work from home if they wish, however everyone is required to work in the office for a minimum of 4 to 6 days a month with Tuesdays as the core day for regular whole team meetings and Thursday as an additional core day for Senior Leaders.

The Email Marketing Officer role is key to our supporter communications. You will work across teams to deliver our email programme, building high-quality, personalised campaigns and engaging content using your copywriting skills.
