You would be responsible for delivering a high quality, confidential, independent, and impartial Money advice, using multi-channel service delivery to help clients in this role. Led by the Head of Advice and Operations, you will be part of a team of Specialists who work to support the local community of Harlow.
You will:
· be responsible for ensuring that advice is delivered to consistently high standards and meets the technical requirements of Money Advice
· have excellent communication and advocacy skills
· have the ability to manage a caseload
· complement this with strong IT skills and ability to analyse and interpret information
Suitable candidates for the post will have recent experience of delivering debt advice to a wide range of clients (face to face and on the telephone). Additionally, priority will be given to applicants who are an approved Debt Relief Order Intermediary.

We are currently looking to recruit a Debt Adviser (applications from trainees through to experienced are being sought) to join our debt team.
Salary: £21,074 (FTE) as a Trainee. Generalist Level £23,112 (FTE) rising to £24,658 (FTE) for Caseworker Level (subject to all criteria met)
Hours: Part-time, 18.5 per week
Contract: MaPS funded role, the funding is currently awarded until 31 March 2022

Trainee Debt Adviser
You will be able to demonstrate the potential to successfully provide debt advice most probably through having had 6 months experience doing so as a volunteer or paid non-specialist adviser. You will have the ability to understand written and oral information of some complexity; have good numeracy skills sufficient to compile accurate financial statements and calculate benefits; and, have effective oral and written communication skills for the purposes of negotiation and reporting. Strong organisation and communication skills are essential.
In the first instance we are seeking someone who can progress quickly from Trainee to the generalist Level Further progression through the different levels of CCA’s Debt Adviser development scheme will be possible through demonstrating compliance with the commensurate competencies through case-based evidence within a formal assessment process.
Generalist Debt Adviser
You will be able to demonstrate the potential to successfully provide debt advice through having had 1 years’ experience providing debt advice. You will have the ability to understand written and oral information of some complexity; have good numeracy skills sufficient to compile accurate financial statements and calculate benefits; and, have effective oral and written communication skills for the purposes of negotiation and reporting.
The candidate would be expected to progress to caseworker level and support and training will be provided to achieve this.
Case Worker Debt Adviser
You will have 2 years recent experience in debt advice within the last three years including experience of court representation and be a DRO intermediary.
Applicants must have successfully completed the MaPS accredited learning to casework/specialist level.

Citizens Advice Hounslow is a well-respected charity, operating in the London Borough of Hounslow. Thanks to our amazing team of staff and volunteers, we support over 8,000 clients a year through our face to face, phone and digital services. However, in the current circumstances, we are mainly operating remotely.
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Advice Supervisor or Caseworker with experience in a supervisory role to:
- support and supervise advice sessions (currently all services are running remotely, mainly by phone)
- check advisers’ work at generalist level
- give advice to clients if required, according to service needs, dealing with own casework
- ensure high quality of advice is maintained at all times
- promote and take up research & campaign work in accordance with the aims and principles of Citizens Advice
- carry out any other duties compatible with the role as and when required
