The role

Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 per annum, depending on experience

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. IKWRO –Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO) is an award-winning charity founded (as the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation) in 2002. As testament to its’ success and in response to huge need, IKWRO has expanded and now provides unique and vital support for women and girls from all Middle Eastern, North African and Afghan (MENA) communities who are at risk of “honour” based violence, child marriage, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, domestic violence, sexual violence and other forms of gender violence.  

IKWRO provides direct services including advocacy and professional counselling. IKWRO opened the UK’s first specialist Middle Eastern women’s refuge. IKWRO is regularly called upon to share expertise with government, academics, and media and to train professionals from bodies such as the police, social services and schools.  

IKWRO has led the recognition of “honour” based abuse and “honour” killing as forms of violence against women and girls. Campaign successes include; the first extradition from Kurdistan-Iraq to the UK of perpetrators of “honour” killing of Banaz Mahmod, the UK’s criminalisation of forced marriage, child marriage, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, as well as the first ever national inspection of policing of “honour” based violence. 

The post-holder will help Arabic speaking women who have experienced Forced Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation and “Honour” Based Violence. Working in a confidential setting, counsellors listen attentively to their clients and offer them the time, empathy and respect they need to express their own feelings, to help them overcome their problems and to make appropriate changes to their life.

As our director of digital and information security, you will lead our digital risk and resilience team and programme in order to help build resistance and resilience among the people and movements challenging unaccountable power.

Lead our digital risk and resilience programme

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) is a membership organisation and the voice of the profession, with over 4,000 members in the UK and overseas. Main Purpose

The RCOphth provides education, support and professional development for ophthalmologists of all grades and across all of their roles. It also contributes to education in eye care and ophthalmology for undergraduate medical students and practitioners in other medical specialties and ophthalmic professions. The RCOphth aims for all its audiences to be able to access the ophthalmology education they need, when and where they want it, and in the form most appropriate for the learner and the learning material.

This role is an exciting new opportunity for you to play a leading part in the development and delivery of our digital learning provision.

You will work closely with colleagues and editors/co-editors to ensure that this membership benefit is valued by the membership and external audiences and their experience when using the platform is optimised.

Key Responsibilities

• Management of the INSPIRE digital learning platform (Brightspace)
• Work with Editors, Co-Editors, Instructors and Contributors on the production of high-quality digital learning materials in terms of content, level and educational rigour
• Increase learner engagement and satisfaction
• Develop mechanism to sell INSPIRE to non-members in the UK and the overseas market
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the RCOphth Digital Learning strategy

INSPIRE Platform

• Provide a skilled helpdesk service to users. This can involve talking users through how to use the platform, and sometimes dealing with difficult technical enquiries that require explanations to non-technical users.
• Manage the progression of materials through the necessary stages of creation and development and ensuring that materials are uploaded onto INSPIRE in a timely manner.
• Develop the functionality of the platform and managing its interaction with other software such as the membership database and collection of payments

Editors/Co-Editors/Instructors/Contributors

• Provide support to Editors and Co-Editors in loading resources onto the INSPIRE platform and integrating them to create learning materials.  This will entail formatting and editing text, images and video for house style and grammar whilst maintaining medical/scientific accuracy.
• Checking consent and clearing copyright/licensing permissions for materials used in INSPIRE.
• Organising Editor and Co-Editor meetings and workshops.
• Create mechanisms to obtain user feedback on learning materials and evaluate the platform to direct change.

Communications/Liaison

• Liaise with internal colleagues in the Department, the Communications Team and external stakeholders in relation to the development and promotion of online resources.
• Liaising with College staff from other departments about current and future projects that require support from INSPIRE or will generate learning materials for the platform.
• Liaise with those organising and delivering courses and webinars to record presentations, select and upload materials, and create specific learning pathways for delegates.
• Work with the Education Co-ordinator to design and produce promotional materials for resources.
• Work with e-Learning for Health (e-LfH) on the materials that the College has on that platform and integrate materials onto INSPIRE. This includes attending the Content Provider Group meetings of which this College is a member as well as other meetings as appropriate.
• Create, recruit to and support a Digital Learning Editorial Board which will be responsible, with other stakeholders, for ensuring materials are up-to-date and quality assured for 100% accuracy.  Once in place, be the staff contact responsible for the effective running of the Board and relevant processes.
• Be a member of and contribute to the INSPIRE Group (operational group of largely staff) and Digital Learning Subcommittee (members and staff).
• Undertake any other duties related to the job purpose which may be necessary in the work of the team.

About the role:

dvance has partnered with Catch 22 to deliver services to young victims of crime in London. In recognition of the distinct challenges facing young women and girls (aged 13 to 18) who have been victims or witnesses of crime, Advance will deliver a dedicated, specialist support service tailored to their unique needs. This is an exciting time to join Advance as we expand our reach to support more young women and girls using best-practice youth, gender, trauma-informed and holistic approaches.

The new service will provide support across all London boroughs in safe, female-only spaces and in the community. It is designed to help young women and girls escape harm, build confidence and resilience, and thrive in their lives and aspirations. They will receive one-to-one support from specialist Caseworkers, as well as access to safe spaces offering groups and workshops, toiletries, clothing, IT access and more.

Caseworkers will provide consistent, holistic support, offering practical help and advocacy, and working to build trusted relationships that empower young women and girls to explore their identities, safety and futures. Advance’s Caseworkers will also be embedded within the wider Catch 22 Victim Services team, through co-location at Catch 22 offices and participation in relevant team meetings and training.

Can you help us to support new dads and dads-to-be?

We are recruiting a Dad Matters Coordinator to help us reach more families in Brent. This is a great opportunity for someone with parenting experience to support new dads at a critical time in their parenting journey.

The Dad Matters Coordinator will support dads with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to services. You will have the ability to work with professionals and healthcare services to ensure dads are engaged, supported and heard within clinical pathways. Additionally, you will help develop and run group sessions with dads and will be at the forefront of growing our volunteering opportunities.

Mayhew is an exceptionally special animal welfare charity, and we are looking for an equally special candidate to be our Canine Behaviourist.  Our team ensure that every dog and cat in our care receives the expert and personalised care s/he needs, delivered with the understanding, empathy, compassion and love that every dog and cat deserves. 

Our Home in North-West London accommodates our Kennels, Cattery, Veterinary Clinic and more. Our kennels house up to 15 dogs at any one time meaning that our Canine Behaviourist is able to truly get to know each dog as an individual and directly impact his or her outcomes. We are looking for a hands-on, practical, do-er who has the academic knowledge to understand rescue dogs and the practical experience in a shelter environment to design and deliver the training and wellbeing programmes required to create successful rehoming outcomes for each of those pets.

This role sits within the Kennels Team, reporting to the Head of Kennels. Being a team player, who is good with people as well as animals, is an incredibly important part of the skill set we’re looking for. At the same time, we need an energetic self-starter who can work under their own steam to ensure that every dog in our care is having the best day possible and is continuously progressing on his/her journey through Mayhew to a loving and happy forever home.

As you’ll already know from your prior experience, this role can be physically and emotionally demanding but it will also be hugely rewarding; and that is even more so at Mayhew where this post-holder can really help shape things and where we have a manageable number of dogs in our care. Our Canine Behaviourist will:

• Love dogs and be passionately committed to the achievement of each one’s best possible outcome
• In-take Assess all dogs coming into our care and be closely involved with the Head of Kennel’s in-take decisions (bearing in mind that Mayhew receives dogs from some challenging sources including hoarding and poor welfare environments, and dogs with no known history)
• Rehab Assess all dogs in our care to understand them in their current state and identify their training and behaviour-modification needs
• Design and implement their training and behaviour modification plans with support from our Clinical Animal Behaviourist, ensuring continuous improvement and sustained good welfare; being agile and humble enough to change plans when things aren’t working
• Coach and support the Kennel and Animal Carers so that they can help with the delivery of training and behaviour modification plans, helping them feel included and engaged, and embrace up-skilling;
• Ensure the health & safety of the Animal Carers and Volunteers whilst caring for the dogs in our care, having the knowledge, experience, strength and confidence to personally handle more challenging dogs and situations
• Design, and help the Kennel and Animal Carers to implement, individualised wellbeing and enrichment programmes to keep each dog physically and mentally healthy whilst they are with us and have the knowledge and prior experience to make each dog’s plan bespoke to them considering a variety of drivers including play styles, energy levels, sociability, guarding behaviours, preferences, and sources of frustration.
• Liaise with foster families caring for Mayhew dogs at the direction of the Head of Kennels as required
• Undertake each dog’s Rehoming Assessment, working with the Head of Kennels and Dog Adoption Officer to ensure the right rehoming criteria are set on an individual basis. We don’t take a computer-says-no approach, we want to move mountains to find each dog a successful home.
• Be involved in rehoming our longer staying dogs, including interviewing potential adopters
• Perform practical sessions with adopters as part of the rehoming process to ensure that training and behaviour techniques Mayhew has put in place successfully transfer with the dog to their new carer and environment
• Work in accordance with Mayhew’s policies and be experienced, responsible and compassionate to be fully involved in the tough decisions which sometimes face all rescues.
• Be up to date with the relevant UK legislation on dogs and safety
• Stay up to date with the fascinating and continually-developing science of canine behaviour and well-being
• Come to work each day up-beat, positive and ready to make a real difference.

To be successful in this role, you need:

• Experience working hands-on with rescue dogs in the shelter environment
• At least 2 years’ experience within an applied canine behaviourist / rehabilitation role, working with dogs with differing behavioural challenges

• Proven experience of a flexible and can-do approach, successfully juggling competing priorities and calmly handling multiple or complex issues in an operational environment.

We are now seeking an experienced Waking Night Keyworker to oversee all aspects of our first stage housing during the night, based at our Newham, East London homes from 10pm to 8am. The main role is to support the residents in daily living activities of an evening and morning and be available for support throughout the night. Staff will also be expected to maintain professional development through online training and maintain the monitoring system ensuring it is up to date.

Key Responsibilities

The Waking Night Keyworker will report directly to the Specialist Support Manager and will play a critical role in maintaining the effective running of Treasures Foundation’s supported housing. The core responsibilities include:
