We are working with our local Primary Care Networks to deliver Social Prescribing in Richmond. Social Prescribing is part of the NHS Long-Term Plan and enables GPs and other health care professionals to refer patients to a Link Worker who can work with the individual to connect them with services and activities in their local community.

The role aims to empower people and take control of their lives. It involves working with people who may be experiencing a number of issues, so you will need outstanding listening and communication skills, empathy and enthusiasm. You will need excellent organisational skills, be adept at seeking out information for relevant community services and have a tenacity to help people achieve sustainable improvements in their wellbeing.

Fitzrovia Youth in Action is looking for an experienced, passionate and enthusiastic person for our Youth Participation Officer role. If you feel like this is you, we would love to hear from you!

The post holder will manage and develop youth-led community projects in which young people develop their leadership and employability skills through becoming actively involved in their community and participating in self-directed community action. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of several youth-led community projects, primarily the organisation of youth-led community events, but might also include elements of other youth-led activities, such as youth action team, health champions and ambassadors. 

For example, typically, this would involve working with groups of around 10 young people in each cohort and support them to deliver their community event project over a 12-week period.  Examples of events include youth-led football tournaments, street parties and our community Christmas dinner. We’re looking for a Community Organiser who can build strong, trusting relationships, uncover what matters to people, and help them act collectively for the common good.

What you’ll be doing

• Hold regular one-to-one meetings with local people to understand their concerns, hopes, and ambitions.

• Identify and support formal and informal leaders, helping them develop skills and confidence to lead change.

• Mobilise groups to work together on issues that matter to them – from initial ideas to action that makes a difference.

• Bring forward “under-reached” voices and make sure they are part of the conversation.

• Create and deliver a communications plan (including social media) to connect and inspire active citizens.

• Participate in training, reflect on your practice, and share learning so we can all grow.

What we’re looking for

We value character, values, and approach as much as technical skills – but for this role, you’ll need to show you’ve already had some hands-on experience:

• 1 year experience in community organising, campaigning, or a related role.

• A track record paid or voluntary of inspiring others to take action – ideally people with different backgrounds and perspectives from your own.

• Evidence of working on projects, events, or campaigns that created real change.

• Skills in organising yourself and others in fast-moving, sometimes unstructured environments.

• The ability to handle challenges and differences constructively, keeping relationships strong.

We are looking for a Community Support Coordinator to lead and develop our Community Support Volunteer service. You will ensure support for people living with and affected by MND is accessible, safe and inclusive. You will build strong partnerships with health and social care professionals, recruit, manage and guide volunteers, and help ensure individuals have choice and control in the support they receive.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in managing and co-ordinating volunteers, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across a range of stakeholders. The Community Support Coordinator will play a key role in strengthening local services and supporting volunteers to feel valued and effective in their roles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support a team of Community Support Volunteers, ensuring services are safe, inclusive and meet local needs
• Provide guidance to volunteers on complex care and support issues, including signposting to other services
• Respond promptly to enquiries and referrals, offering information and facilitating access to support and resources
• Build and maintain effective relationships with health and social care professionals and local partners
• Support branches and groups to plan and deliver activities that respond to local needs
• Recruit, induct and develop volunteers, ensuring they are well supported and connected
• Enable effective communication and collaboration between volunteers, staff and partners
• Contribute to service development, sharing feedback and identifying opportunities for improvement

About You:

• Experience leading or co-ordinating groups of volunteers
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present and influence effectively
• Ability to assess and respond to support needs through a person-centred approach
• Understanding of care and support services across statutory, private or voluntary sectors, and the role of volunteers
• Experience of working with people at risk of harm, and an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
• Ability to build networks and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive practice
• Confident in prioritising, planning and making decisions independently
• Willingness to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends
• A full driving licence

Salary: £37,300 per annum (FTE) £30,243 pro rata

Hours: 30 hours per week

Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract
