Event: 2025 Royal Parks Half Marathon

Location: London

Time commitment: 12th October - Half a day 

What we're looking for

We need enthusiastic and outgoing volunteers who can cheer as loudly as possible for our runners as they go past our cheer points. Every year thousands of people join Team NSPCC to take on a challenge and raise money to help protect children and prevent abuse. Together with other cheerers, you'll make a huge difference to how our runners feel – helping them to complete a challenge they've spent months preparing for.

What you'll do

You'll be joining other lively and enthusiastic cheerers at  our NSPCC cheer point along the route – be ready for cheering, clapping, whooping or even singing. It's a team effort, so you would also help with setting up the cheer point, giving out t-shirts and cheering materials, making sure the area is kept tidy and helping with packing down.

We have one cheer point along the course, with staggered start times. We'll be in touch to arrange with you what time to arrive, where to meet and what to expect. You don't have to be an official cheerer to come along and support team NSPCC. So if you can't make the full-time or to one of our cheer points, we'd still love to see there, just look up the event time and come along.

What you'll get

Volunteering at our events is a great way to experience the fantastic atmosphere of event days, without the training! The atmosphere at our cheer point is amazing, and we'll provide you with cheering materials and an NSPCC t-shirt so all you have to bring is your enthusiasm.

You'll be accompanied by NSPCC staff to support you and answer any questions you may have. Refreshments will be provided at the cheer points, and travel expenses will be covered up to the value of £5.

Who's right for the role?

You don't need any prior experience, just a sense of fun, team spirit and enthusiasm. It's important that you're able to spend a few hours outside, spending lots of this time cheering and clapping. You'll also need to stand for a few hours so, if you think this would be difficult, we'd advise bringing along a travel chair. If you are a wheelchair user, please let us know and we can help to identify a suitably accessible cheering point for you.

You'll need to feel comfortable if members of the public ask you about your volunteering role and will simply need to direct them to a member of staff if they have any questions about the NSPCC. We need volunteers with a warm and friendly manner, as the NSPCC is 90 per cent funded by public donations so the impression people have of us is incredibly important.

Please be aware that you'll need to make your own way to your cheer point (we will give you directions).

We need Fundraising Volunteers to help in and around the Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough area. The postcode areas we are active in are TN1, TN2, TN3, TN4, TN5, TN6, TN7, TN8, TN9, TN10, TN11, TN13, TN14, TN15, TN16, TN17, TN18, TN19, TN20, TN21 and TN22.

We are a movement of people championing the welfare of cats. We lead society in a richer understanding of all cats and care for those that need our help. 

Our Volunteer led branches operate within local communities nationwide and rely on funds donated by generous members of the public to continue to help cats and kittens in need of new homes, supporting owners with neutering, managing trap, neuter and return programmes and educating people about cat welfare. 

Our fundraising volunteers are part of a passionate team that help raise funds to help cats. They help plan and deliver exciting and varied fundraising events, which can be anything from craft fairs, cake sales, sponsored abseils – and anything in between!

This information and the reports that are created on the back of it, will also be used to encourage and campaign for change in wider society.

The role of Research and Analysis Co-ordinator will be to collate the data and create analysis reports for the organisation to use as part of our ongoing projects and look at new areas of work that comes from this data.

You don’t need to have lots of experience in this area, just the attention to detail and understanding of how such data is collected and reported, we want to do things differently, therefore those core skills, as well as a passion for the charity purpose, is more important than anything else.

The person who is starting the charity up is autistic, has ADHD, CPTSD and also multiple physical conditions that effect daily life and is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has faced a lot of issues in life because of these things.

Living Reasons is being created to fix what we think is a challenging situation that is getting harder to achieve every week, month and year in the current economic, political, environmental and societal landscape. Mind, the mental health charity and national organisation provides information, advice and support to anyone experiencing poor mental health. Minds also campaigns to improve services, change policy, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health.

Mind Cymru is Mind in Wales. We aim to make sure everyone in Wales has access to the mental health information, support and services they need. We are here to make sure no-one in Wales faces a mental health problem alone.

We are currently working with our network of 16 local minds in Wales to recruit new trustees. Local Minds provide support and services at the heart of their communities, reaching almost 37,000 people a year in Wales.

Trustees are our most senior leaders. They set our strategic direction, make sure we are using our resources effectively and ensure we are having the greatest possible impact on our community. Terms 

Appointments are for an initial 3-year term, and trustees can serve for a maximum of 2 terms.

This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses can be claimed.

Unseen Expeditions UK is a newly forming Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) supporting mission-led charities and expedition projects across the UK and internationally. Our flagship initiative, The Unseen Mile, is a 4.5-year journey covering 25,000 miles across 37 countries. We work with people who need support with their mental health across London and the South East. Our support ranges from registered accommodation services for people with severe mental health conditions to drop-in community and crisis services.

In the last year, 9,499 adults accessed Hestia’s mental health support.

We help people to feel safe, develop hope for a better future, and achieve their personal goals. These goals may include rebuilding relationships with family members and friends or connecting more with their local community.

About Us

Whispaws Animal Sanctuary is a UK-based charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned dogs and cats in Serbia. We provide veterinary care, rehabilitation, and adoption opportunities, and run sterilisation campaigns to reduce the street dog population. Our work also includes a street feeding campaign, ensuring that abandoned animals living outdoors receive regular food and care.

We are a small but passionate team, committed to improving animal welfare through hands-on rescue work, community outreach, and fundraising.

The Role

We are looking for reliable, proactive volunteers to join our team and support us with general administration, social media, and fundraising. You may choose to help in one area or across several, depending on your skills, interests, and availability. The work can be done remotely, although if you are based near Sevenoaks, Blackheath, or Chislehurst, there are opportunities to join our in-person fundraising events.

Key Areas of Involvement

General Administration

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Baby Basics Northampton is a registered charity that provides moses basket starter packs to parents with new babies in Northamptonshire, via referrals from healthcare professionals and local agencies.

The charity is in its 12th year, and ready to grow in line with community demand for our vital service. We are recruiting a Clerk to the Board of Trustees to ensure this much-loved local charity thrives as it increases both its reach and impact.

Overview

Baby Basics Northampton are seeking a friendly, efficient and reliable individual to act as a clerk to our Trustee (governing) board.

Working effectively with the Chair of Trustees and other Trustees, the Clerk will be responsible preparing agendas for meetings and ensuring the smooth running of meetings and maintaining accurate records.

This is a part-time voluntary role with circa 12 meetings held annually in-person. It is anticipated the role will require a commitment of 4 hours per month. Most meetings are held in the evenings. There may be opportunities to support outside of the meetings at events etc.

Responsibilities

• Produce, collate and distribute agendas and papers to ensure Trustees receive them within the agreed timescale;
• Ensure meetings are quorum;
• Attend meetings and take accurate and objective minutes with timescales for action;
• Submit draft minutes for amendment/approval and circulate approved documents;
• Monitor and report back on actions;
• Maintain records of Trustees membership, attendance, and terms of office;
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times;
• Provide procedural advice to the Trustee Board as required;
• Deal with the administration concerning new Trustee appointments;
• Initiate a welcome pack/letter to be sent to newly appointed Trustees, including details of terms of office;
• Monitor the dedicated email address regularly and respond/forward emails as appropriate;

Requirements

• Good standard of general education.
• Proven experience in an administrative or clerical role is essential.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality.
• Knowledge of charity governance regulations (or willingness to undergo training).
• Proficiency in using email, OneDrive / Sharepoint and online meeting platforms.

About this key role

As a Reception Volunteer, you will welcome all visitors in a warm, friendly, and professional manner, handle incoming phone calls and direct queries appropriately, plus monitor and manage the reception inbox and incoming correspondence.  You will maintain a clean, organised, and accessible reception area, register visitors, ensure sign-in procedures are followed, and issue visitor badges and support security and safeguarding protocols, including monitoring access.

We will rely on you to support meeting room bookings and logistics, assist with incoming and outgoing post and deliveries, and help maintain supplies and reception materials (leaflets, forms, etc.), while also assisting with simple data entry and document filing as needed.  Working collaboratively with staff and fellow volunteers and contributing towards a positive workplace culture are both key duties, as is ensuring that confidentiality and security of information is maintained in accordance with our Confidentiality, Data Protection, IT and Security policies.
