We run organic campaigns across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X, leveraging CanvaPro to maximise our reach with minimal resources. Now, we're expanding our efforts to TikTok (and possibly BlueSky) to raise awareness about prematurity and connect with new audiences. We need your expertise in resizing, adapting, and manually reposting or scheduling our content on these platforms. To enhance community engagement, your role will also involve monitoring and responding to comments and organising collaborations with our supporters on TikTok.

Our long-term goal is to become a verified charity on TikTok. Achieving this milestone requires reaching 1,000 followers, allowing us to set up fundraising initiatives on the platform.

Skills Required:

• Experience with TikTok Creative Centre and/or video editing tools like CapCut or Canva

• Strong skills in writing and editing social media captions

What Success Looks Like:

Our TikTok journey begins with just 27 followers. Success means reaching a three-digit follower count, posting scheduled content weekly, and boosting engagement.

Why does it matter?

Each year, over 90,000 babies in the UK are born sick or prematurely. Ickle Pickles is the only charity dedicated to helping hospitals raise funds for lifesaving equipment. We work with neonatal units and families affected by neonatal care across the country. By increasing our reach on TikTok, we can support more families, spread awareness of prematurity and ultimately, increase donations to fund life-saving equipment for premature and sick babies.

Who are we?

We are Buttons & Bubbles CIC. Our aim is to increase and representation across society for disabled families. We have several different services including inclusive characters, sensory workshops, resources, events, advocacy and more.

What are we looking for?

Are you creative? Or looking for a practical volunteering project with artistic flair? Then we might just have something for you!
This year we turned our inclusive characters into props and began creating our ‘safe bubble’ at festivals. We want to continue this work and made some improvements! Jazz up the props and make our safe space look amazing. In a nutshell we want to make our props more interactive and create props, decorations and lighting for our safe space.But we are super open to hearing ideas as to what we could do with this!

What do we expect?

• Be willing to undertake our training programme which will be done virtually and at a time to suit you.

• Have an Enhanced DBS check (preferably be on the update system)

• Sign our volunteer contract. (If you disagree with anything in it please do discuss it with us and we will be happy to have a conversation and make small changes if appropriate).

• A positive attitude to disability and illness. We are happy to answer questions on this.

Our amazing team of vibrant & diverse volunteers helps us run over 600 shops. Our stores sell lots of great donated & new goods to help raise vital funds to make a real difference to disadvantaged children, young people and families across the UK.

Our retail stores are the face of our charity on the high-street and in local communities. We have loads of amazing stock donated to us every week, and this all needs to be sorted, tagged and put on the shop-floor for sale!

Making sure our shops look fantastic is another task you can get involved with. You may also be required to help out on the till too, but we will show you how that works during your time volunteering with us. We value the contribution of everyone who supports Barnardo’s.

Trustee roles

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that WCC achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that WCC has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable WCC to grow and thrive, and through this, achieve our mission.

Trustees have a collective responsibility, and this means that they always act as a group and not as individuals.

Duties:

• Support and provide advice on WCC’s purpose, vision, goals, and activities
• Approve operational strategies and policies, and monitor and evaluate their implementation
• Oversee WCC’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored, and controlled effectively
• Review and approve WCC’s financial statements

Terms of appointment

• Trustees are appointed for a three-year term of office. Our Articles of Association state that one third of the trustees will retire from office at each AGM with the longest serving trustees retiring first. Trustees can stand for re-election at the same AGM
• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
• Time commitment- approximately 8 hours per month
• Board meetings- attending four Board meetings annually (currently on Tuesday evenings). We alternate between meeting in-person at WCC’s office in Waterloo and online
• Sub-committees- we have two subcommittees (Finance & Operations, and Clinical) that meet in between Board meetings, with individual trustees attending one or more of these depending on skills and preferences.
• Two half day strategy days a year and training where needed
• Reading Board papers in advance, being involved in discussions, advising on specialist areas
• We hold an Annual General Meeting with all staff and members.

Time commitment

Approximately 8 hours per month
There are four board meetings a year, currently on Tuesday evenings – we alternate between meeting in-person at WCC’s office in Waterloo and online. We hold an Annual General Meeting with all staff and members. We have two sub committees that meet in between Board meetings, with individual trustees attending one or more of these depending on preferences and time commitment.

CKT funds music lessons for children in Surrey who would not otherwise be able to afford them. We are looking for someone to manage our give a gig fundraising programme with the objective of maximising  the amount of funds raised  and developing long term relationships with gig givers

Specific tasks 

• Liaising with and between gig givers, speakers and other volunteers in advance of gigs to ensure the smooth running and maximise fund raising at gigs Working with the roster administrator to ensure that sufficient speakers and volunteers are available at each gig
• Ensuring that CKT team at each gig have necessary flyers, banners, buckets and gift aid Ensuring appropriate follow up after gigs including notifying the treasurer and trustees of sums raised, thanking gig givers and volunteers and banking cash collected at gigs
• Maintaining and keeping up to date the master give a gig spreadsheet, the summary list of recent and upcoming gigs in agendas and minutes and the list of past and upcoming gigs on the CKT website
• Helping organise fund raising concerts and donor events run by CKT itself from time to time
• Attending and contributing to board meetings as a CKT manager
• Attending concerts from time to time as a CKT volunteer
• Performing such other tasks and activities for CKT as skills and time allow

You will be guided in your role by the trustee or trustees with fund raising responsibilities The role may or may not include monitoring the health of the give a gig funnel and identification of and approaches to new and past gig givers for new gigs

Gig givers include all choirs, orchestras, bands, festivals and venues who have agreed to raise funds for CKT

After you’ve filled in an application, we will invite you for an informal trial shift. It’s a great opportunity to visit the shop, meet some of our existing volunteers and have a go at some of the tasks that you would be supporting with as a shop volunteer. Hopefully allowing you to get a feel for the role and make sure it’s for you. We also ask for a couple of references (these don’t have to be formal workplace ones, just someone who has known you for over 6 months and isn’t related).

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

We've recently reopened our Islington Shop with a gorgeous new look inspired by the neighbouring film studios. In amongst the retro cinema seats and beautiful backstage velvet curtains you'll find unique vintage treasures and lovingly curated donated stock, hand picked by our brilliant volunteer team.

Our Islington Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a charity at the very start and to make a difference in shaping how we move forward.

Who are we looking for?

At present we are working to secure funding that will see us through our first year, and the role will be an important part of the organisation's growth of the organisation.

This role will be overseeing the digital aspects of the organisation, including the website design and management which is currently being hosted on Squarespace and our internal communications system, which is using the Google Workspace platform. At Living Reasons, we believe that individual skills are more important that experience, in this role having an attention to detail and a creative spirit, along with the passion for Living Reasons' values and mission are all you will need, the rest is growth for both you and for the organisation.

What is the plan?

The person who is starting the charity up is autistic, has ADHD, CPTSD and also multiple physical conditions that effect daily life and is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has faced a lot of issues in life because of these things.

Living Reasons is being created to fix what we think is a challenging situation that is getting harder to achieve every week, month and year in the current economic, political, environmental and societal landscape. It is not easily defined but we hope the charity objects below will help put context to what we want to achieve, what we can say is that below are the issues we are trying to address, how we do this will change as quickly as society does, but the issues we want to tackle are these:

1) Outdated and damaging employment practices

2) Accessibility to services

3) Limited employment, training and education opportunities

4) Lack of support during times of crisis or need

5) Lack of equity and agency for many people in society

6) Institutional discrimination that is not challenged

7) Abuse of the legal system at all levels

8) Abuse of power in government bodies

9) Poor access to healthcare

10)  Unequal treatment of many people in society by large corporations

11)  Assumptions made by wider society based on incorrect, outdated or discriminatory rhetoric that is used in daily life

12)  Outdated company engagement with the public

13)  Lack of support that is not talked about and not being addressed
